The Exhibition Room is our largest entertainment space and ideal for evening receptions, dinners, conferences and product launches. With adaptable lighting, built-in PA system and state-of-the-art projectors, it offers a white canvas for you to express your ideas, network and dine with up to 130 guests. If hired in conjunction with the glass roof Atrium for an evening reception (available from 6pm), your guests can enjoy a private view of ever-changing exhibitions before entering our bright and flexible venue. The Exhibition Room also benefits from an acoustic wall that enables the space to be divided into two selfcontained areas – perfect for break-out activities or if you are looking for a smaller room.

The Goldsmiths’ Centre’s glass-covered Atrium is a grand architectural statement, combining a Victorian Board School with award-winning contemporary architecture. Available for evening hire for up to 90 guests from 6pm, it is a striking backdrop for your drinks reception, product launch, party or private view, where your guests can exclusively view exhibitions celebrating the goldsmiths’ craft. Our Café, Bench, converted from the Victorian Board School’s covered playground, offers an intimate space with rustic charm and its own outside terrace. This venue caters for up to 50 guests and provides the ideal setting for evening entertainment and good conversation. When the Atrium and Café are combined with the spacious Exhibition Room, these spaces come together to offer a wonderful combination of old and new, cosy and grand, intimate and impressive, for up to 270 guests.

The Creative Base is located in the existing Grade II listed Victorian Board School building and features wonderful original details from wooden floorboards, panelled sliding doors to a wrought-iron fireplace. OUR HISTORY
THE BUILDING
Located in the heart of Clerkenwell, the Goldsmiths’ Centre is the UK’s leading charity for the professional training of goldsmiths.
The Goldsmiths’ Centre started life with support from the Goldsmiths’ Company, one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies of the City of London. Since its foundation in the 14th century, the Goldsmiths’ Company has helped young people into apprenticeships to learn the ancient trade of the goldsmith under the tutelage of Master craftspeople.
This award-winning and environmentally friendly building is set in London’s buzzing design quarter and close to Hatton Garden, the historic jewellery quarter and centre of the UK diamond trade since 1581.
Since 2012, we bring together trainee and working goldsmiths and those interested in jewellery, silversmithing and the allied trades in a unique community that works and learns together. Our aim is to create skilled workforce, boost the economy and promote craftsmanship in the UK.

Today the Goldsmiths’ Centre continues to support those working within the jewellery and allied industries to develop successful careers. Our building houses over 20 workshops and studios as part of a creative community. Resident craftspeople are given the ideal environment and facilities to share ideas, skills, collaborate and teach others, producing their best work and running thriving businesses. Our events offer an inspiring insight into the goldsmiths’ craft. We are a hub where likeminded people can share ideas, collaborate and stay up to date on emerging technologies, techniques and innovations. Our free exhibition programme showcases our fascinating industry – its outstanding creativity and craftsmanship.
In 2013 it received both the RIBA award as one of the best designed workspaces in East London and a worldwide Civic Trust Award. Designed by Lyall, Bills & Young LP Architects, it took three years to construct. The building is a multi-functional space that connects an existing Grade II listed 1872 Victorian London Board School through a glass atrium and steel bridge to a four-storey contemporary extension. The redevelopment of the original London Board School, complete with antique fireplaces, honours its roots as a place of learning. By hiring one of our spaces, you are helping us to train and develop the next generation of goldsmiths.

HOW TO GET HERE By tube: The nearest tube station is Farringdon, which is a short 3 minute walk from the Goldsmiths’ Centre. By train: Mainline rail services run from Brighton, Haywards Heath, Gatwick Airport, East Croydon, London Bridge, London Blackfriars, Sutton, Wimbledon, London St Pancras International, St Albans City, Luton and Bedford to Farringdon. By bus: Buses 63, 55 and 243 pass near the Goldsmiths’ Centre. By car: Please note that there is no parking at the Goldsmiths’ Centre.
