rowth continues to be a trending topic for us at The Garrett Companies as we push forward with projects and near the end of 2021. The past few months have been filled with activity for every team at The Garrett Co. While it’s been challenging at times, the excitement surrounding our progress continues to drive us forward toward our relentless
pursuit of excellence.
COLORADO OFFICE We opened our first office in Colorado this September for our Colorado-based team members to call home base and collaborate. The office is in Lone Tree, CO and has the capacity for around 30 employees and a large conference room for meetings. This space is a temporary CONTINUED ON BACK

att Yozman joined the Garrett team in 2018 as a Project Superintendent. After a year and a half he transitioned to the Director of Quality Assurance and Quality Control and is now Director of Construction. We’re lucky to have Matt join our team after he heard about TGC through a grapevine of subcontractors. When the timing was right, Matt took the leap and never looked back. Fun fact: before starting his career in construction, Matt was in sales for nearly eight years! Matt studied at Purdue and got his bachelor’s degree in Management and associate degrees in Marketing and Industrial Supervision. He was born and raised in LaPorte, Indiana and lives there today with his wife and children. He travels frequently for his role and can typically be found on-site at one of our many projects rather than behind a desk. He has worked on every Garrett project over the past couple years, and certainly keeps busy. For Matt, each day is a little different but the one thing that is constant is his morning iced caramel coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts. Matt works with each site team to help ensure their projects get across the finish
line. Matt will navigate and find solutions for scheduling concerns, answer questions, keep a high standard for the quality of our projects, and assist with any unresolved issues that affect the overall timing of the finished project. In addition, he helps coordinate Procore training and implementation. Matt finds his job very rewarding as he enjoys being involved in the problem-solving process with the on-site construction teams. With his new role Matt will be overseeing construction in Colorado Springs, Parker, and Indiana. When Matt isn’t on a job site, he is at home enjoying quality time with his family. In his free time, he enjoys working on home improvement projects, finding designer pieces of mid-century modern furniture, spending time on the beach, and collecting autographed sports jerseys. Over the years he’s collected over 80 autographed jerseys and his favorite is a Chicago Cubs, Ernie Banks jersey. He’s a lifelong Cubs fan and is still stoked about their World Series win. The Garrett Companies is grateful for Matt’s grit, dedication, and hard work. If you see him around, thank him for doing such a great job on our projects, or ask him how the Cubs are doing lately.
HOBBY HIGHLIGHT: JIM GARRETT – ROCKSTAR
DREAMING OF BEING THE NEXT BIG THING Jim Garrett is The Garrett Co.’s go-to contact when it comes to solving our technology needs. He does it all from ordering new tech and troubleshooting Wi-Fi to keeping our systems protected from cyber-attacks. However, Jim is much more than our Technology Manager. Since Jim learned to play guitar at 7-yearsold, he dreamed of being a Rockstar. He’s been a musician ever since and formed a band in 2008 with a few of his buddies. Before long, their band, Two Cent Road, started playing around the state. The largest crowd they’ve ever performed was 15,000 people! Jim shared, “Playing became something that allowed me to meet new people and form new friendships. I was also able to bond that much more with the guys I was playing with.” Jim plays the acoustic guitar and is the lead singer for Two Cent Road. The band most-

ly plays country music, both old school and new. Think Merle Haggard, George Strait, and Hank Williams Jr. His favorite song to play is Black Bird by the Beatles and is grateful to have fulfilled his dream of becoming a real musician. Next time you see Jim, ask him about his next big gig.

DRINK SPECIAL I.C. Brewhouse Manager, Tiffany Letzo Recommends... I chose a hot buttered rum because it’s a classic fall favorite and it is once again becoming trendy this year. This drink is best enjoyed in batches with friends and family which many people missed out on during the last holiday season. Though I started with a basic recipe for the drink itself, I can never seem to stick to what’s on the page. I’ve always been fascinated by the way that flavors work together. One ingredient can easily inspire me to take things in a different direction. So, naturally, I ended up with a completely different recipe than what I started with. Here it is: Hot Buttered Rum
September 11, 2021 marked the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The Garrett Companies donated $25,000 towards the expansion of the Indiana 9/11 Memorial at 421 West Ohio Street. A piece of Indiana limestone from the damaged wall of the Pentagon was added to the memorial and a survivor tree planted near the already displayed beams from the WTC. One of the team members to represent TGC at the event was Shane Hart, who brought his family, pictured here.
Drink Ingredients: • 4 tbs softened, unsalted butter • 1/3 cup brown sugar • 3 tbs maple syrup • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract or imitation vanilla • Pinch of salt • Cinnamon sticks (optional) • 1 cup spiced rum. I used Breckenridge Spiced Rum from the Breckenridge Distillery in Colorado • 4 cups water Ice Cube Ingredients: • Can of whipped cream • 1 whole orange • 1-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon Directions: 1. Pull the butter out of the refrigerator to soften. 2. In a large mixing bowl, empty the contents of the whipped cream can. 3. Juice the orange into the bowl (no seeds allowed) and add 1-1/2 tsp
of cinnamon. Gently whisk, spoon into an ice cube tray, and place in freezer. If you don’t have a tray, just spread it onto a plate and freeze. You can cut it later. 5. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, maple syrup, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. 6. Put a large sized pot on mediumlow heat and add 4 tbs of softened butter. 7. When the butter is just about to melt, stir in the sugar mixture 8. When the sugar is dissolved, add in the rum and 4 cups of water. Turn the heat to high. 9. At the first signs of boiling, turn off the heat. It’s time to party. 10. Fill each glass with your hot buttered rum and add one of your home-made whipped cream ice cubes 11. Garnish with a cinnamon stick. I used a dehydrated orange and more whipped cream to garnish mine. 4.

Talus Flats in Castle Rock, Colorado has sold to Sunroad Enterprises for a recordbreaking $314K per door. Thank you to every team member that helped bring this to the finish line! The Garrett Companies recently held its first Garrett Get-Together at the Greenwood Headquarters. The first of many to come, this monthly event was held to celebrate the accomplishments of our team. The team is looking to bring the event out to our Colorado Headquarters soon. Keep an eye out for future updates.

GARRETT RESTAURANT GROUP I.C. Brewhouse officially opened its second location in Castle Rock and has been a hit amongst their new neighbors. The entire restaurant team has done an incredible job behind the scenes to set themselves up for success, and we’re proud to see the Garrett Restaurant Group grow. In upcoming months, keep an eye out for updates regarding our new coffee shop concept, Runway 19 Coffee Co. The name recognizes the runway of Greenwood Municipal Airport adjacent to the planned location in Greenwood, IN at the Emerson Pointe site, with a second location planned in Thornton, CO at the Grant Row Lofts site.
TEAM GROWTH At this point last year, TGC employed 108 individuals and in 2021 we are now over 150 employees. Within a year our team has grown by 26% and looking to double that number. We are hiring around 40 new employees in the upcoming months, and even more next year. There has never been a better time to take advantage of our $2,500 referral bonus! Growing our internship program helps spread the word about The Garrett Co. and make connections with future full-time team members. We are grateful for all their help and hope to bring more Garrett Intern Alumni onboard in the future. As we look forward to continuing our Garrett Growth, we want to always remember our humble beginnings. We’ve made major strides since our modest start in 2014, when Eric Garrett founded the company out of a barn in his backyard in Greenwood. Since then, we’ve developed, built and sold 13 projects, improved our systems, started new lines of business, hired the best in the industry, all while consistently winning awards for our culture. As we reflect on our growth, we want to continue to challenge everyone to use our successes to better our team, the neighborhoods in which we work, and the lives of those that choose to call our communities home.
