Waterholes And Other Places For The Soul It wasn’t until I was 65 years old that my feet finally touched the red earth of Central Australia. I knew then that I had to paint this extraordinary landscape. I could see why so many people had told me years before that it was unique. I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I had seen more of the world than I had probably seen of my own country – particularly its glorious and rugged interior. The knowledge that these special places hold such profound meaning and significance for Australia’s first people makes them that much more unique and special. David Hinchliffe 2026
