Meet the Cover Girl

This is your typical next-door girl from Nakuru County who was born in Elngashura and completed her primary school there. Her mother, Teacher Lucy, taught nursery school and did her job pretty well and everyone in their vicinity knew this good lady. Her father was a researcher with the Coffee Research Foundation checking out farms and their coffee issues. She is the first born-the only girl- followed by three brothers. Theirs was a stable humble family with enough for their needs and happy together. Later they relocated to Bahati, still in Nakuru, and here she joined Upper Hill mixed for her secondary education (form1-4). In this period, Nakuru remained her base and she only left after form 4 to join college in Nairobi. Wardrobe: Model's own, Photography: Sammy, Shoot Location: Sunside Guest House

Always loving the progress on the magazine. Great work the team is doing. Happy New year! Mwanaisha Asmani Nyali

Editorial Dear Esteemed readers,

Happy New Year! I know this sounds out of key in the uncertain pandemic era. But let us say a resounding AMEN to the fact that 2021 is here as a gift from God. As you read this, you’re alive. That in all the blessings and favour we require to push on this year.

I therefore welcome you to our 14th Edition. 2020 gave us a golden chance to sit back and review our lives in a way we have never done before. We experience life as we haven’t ever done in our generation. We finally accepted the fact that humanity totally depends on God and He can do whatever He deems fit to make us realize that fact. Corona is scaring and confusing. My heart goes to all who have lost their loved ones. All of us have experienced its effects one way or another. My plea to you is that we observe all the health protocols and ensure the safety of each one of us. Amidst all the issues of 2020, life still moved on and we must be optimistic. That is why I welcome you to read the various articles we have brought together in this edition. Enjoy your reading, relax, even as you get informed. I thank you most sincerely for your continued readership. My prayer for you and me dear reader is that we shall weather this storm and come out better and stronger. This race is not one for the fainthearted. Every day brings its own surprises and setbacks. Lakini tujikaze tu! Let’s stick together giving each other moral support even if we have to keep social distance. Let us trust God to end this catastrophe so that our lives become stable again. In our different corners and situations let us reflect on the following words by St. Francis of Assisi: Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. Happy reading and Blessed year. Suzie Editor in chief

Youth and Life

FLYING HIGH AMIDST SETBACKS BY MENTA T. It is the musical group West Life that gave us the song, “Flying without wings.” In their lyrics, they remind us that,

“When you find that special thing ,you’re Flying Without Wings…And impossible as they may seem, you’ve got to fight for every dream cause who’s to know which one you let go would have made you complete.” Yet, when we go through life, we often find ourselves losing bearing, slipping and wading in complex quagmire. We become helpless and hopeless as our plans and 8 | The Favourite

Youth and Life dreams appear to be an impossibility. As the year 2020 roared into life, we set our sights high and we were quite optimistic. For every young person, the sky was not even the limit for the possibilities were endless. We were pretty sure of the good health we would continue to enjoy, the good grades we would make in school, the careers we would be established in, the graduations we would cherish and hold parties, the places we would tour, and generally the good times we would have. Then boom! The world turned topsy-turvy! From Wuhan China to every corner of this world, a new reality of a super bug hit the world in the form of COVID-19. A new shocking reality of shutdowns, masks, sanitizers, social-distancing, ventilators and deaths frightened the hell

out of us. All our good old world had changed. What are set-backs? These are hindrances, hitches, checks, reverses, impediments, blocks, obstructions, defeats, hold-ups, delays, rebuffs, upsets or relapses. Setbacks are real. They come into our lives in all forms. It is a reality of life. That is why we are encouraged to be ready for them and accept that they can come our way. Macy Kay Ash pointed out that, ”One of the secrets of success is to refuse to let temporary setbacks defeat us.” That encourages us to move on and make the best of our difficult situation. Barbara Markway in an article posted in the journal

PSYCHOLOGY TODAY

(June20, 2013), provided steps on how to leap forward.

“13 Reasons Why Setbacks Should Never Stop You”

1. Expect setbacks. 2. Check your stress level. 3. Do some self-care. 4. Keep practising. 5. Identify your personal warning signs. 6. Recognize it early. 7. Recommit. 8. Remember you’re human. 9. Seek out support. 10. Remember life is not linear. 11. Give yourself credit. 12. Don’t let it snowball. 13. You can always begin again. So dear youth, here we are looking back on the new normal that saw our 2020 plans not fully realized. We have been out of school for so long that we now cherish our school time. The candidates have had their school time extended that the final national exams can never be taken for granted ever again. Christmas and its festivities changed its traditional fun-fair structure to a quieter time that we now truly appreciate the core message of the Christmas period. Businesses and careers have taken such a beating that our whole perspective of what we should do and how we should do it has undergone a testing by fire. But you know what; we have survived bruises and all! Since life offers us no apologies, we have been forced to keep going no matter what. We

have learnt to make do with less, we have learnt the lessons of making healthy choices in order to live. We have learnt that we only have one short life that has no guarantees. We have made very grave mistakes the consequences of which we shall bear all our lives. We have come up with new strategies to deal with the realities around us. We have learnt to never again take things for granted. These lessons are the sum total of our lives in the new normal. We must keep our wings spread out and keep flying high amidst setbacks. There is no looking back. There is no giving up or giving in. we must not lose sight of our destinations. A number of times, we will have to let the storm subside to avoid endangering ourselves. However, we must bravely soar and reach higher heights. I wish to remind you of a story we have heard often. It is the story of the eagle and its soaring prowess. Yet it still faces challenges from another pesky bird called the raven. The raven is so daring that it pecks an eagle. It sits on the eagle’s back and bites its neck. The eagle is never setback by this. Rather, it lays its strategies. It just opens its wings and begins to fly higher in the sky. As it gets higher, the raven develops breathing challenges and simply falls off the eagles back. My challenge to you dear youth: simply soar high above the storms of life and all will be well. Keep safe in all situations by knowing that health is a treasure we must preserve by all means. All you do in life boils down to making the right choices. And just for some biblical perspective, you can sing, ”It is Time to Fly” by Vine Song knowing you are safe in God’s hands. Memorise this assurance:

Isaiah 40

29 He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary and the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. ANN NJOGU TUNING THE CHORDS RIGHT ON RADIO: ELOQUENCE AND VISION BY Suzie It was Napoleon Hill who stated that the starting point of all achievement is desire. He also said that we should not wait, for time will never be just right. Thus, I determined to put my best foot forward amidst the black dark cloud of corona pandemic and get some much needed inspiration from a person I admired. I had to get this story done and share it with my readers. And at Sun side Guest House in Ruai at the swimming pool and having had a nice breakfast, I interracted with Ann Njogu of Radio Maisha. We have heard her charismatic voice reaching us over the air waves and loved both the voice and the person behind it. She did not disappoint. She came out as jovial, pleasant, confident, authentic, and beautiful. The kind of bestie every mother would approve you to have as your best maid and the one every child would want to be when they grow up. She wore an attractive jumpsuit and was accompanied by her husband to the venue.

So, Who is Ann Njogu? This is your typical next-door girl from Nakuru County who was born in Elngashura and completed her primary school there. Her mother, Teacher Lucy, taught nursery school and did her job pretty well and everyone in their vicinity knew 10 | The Favourite

Inspiring lives her to the shops. She would read them diligently. And somewhere in form 2, that never –to-be-forgotten trip to Nairobi happened. They visited KBC and it is as if her angel was pointing and shaping her destiny. The Director selected her and asked her to sit at the Anchor’s seat and after her “News Bulletin”, assured her that she had what it took. Soon, four years were over and there were university courses to be selected. Her uncle, who felt she was very convincing, advised her to select Law as first choice. However, another favourite concerned History teacher, Mr. Njoroge encouraged her to try Mass Communication. This saw her put it as the first choice. However, University did not happen for her then and so she went to Nairobi and joined a private college to pursue a Diploma in Mass Media.

How has the Media Journey Been? Tough…demanding…fulfilling! Varied emotions play out on her face as she retraces her steps for the last ten years that have seen her establish herself as a remarkable media personality.

this good lady. Her father was a researcher with the Coffee Research Foundation checking out farms and their coffee issues. She is the first born-the only girl- followed by three brothers. Theirs was a stable humble family with enough for their needs and happy together. Later they relocated to Bahati, still in Nakuru, and here she joined Upper Hill mixed for her secondary education (form14). In this period, Nakuru remained her base and she only left after form 4 to join college in Nairobi.

Why Broadcast Journalism? She chuckles as she reflects on

this question and finally states that radio chose her.She recollects her closing days in primary school when her determined teacher would put a small girl on a table for visibility so that she could stand and do her thing. The teacher had spotted and needed to shape a narrator, a public performer, a good one for reciting poems! Later in secondary school, another responsible teacher, Mr Kamunge, would insist that this girl reads out the various fasihi texts in class and would urge the others to emulate her. Her reading habits had begun early in life as she salvaged all the pieces of newspaper used as wrappers whenever her mother sent

When she undertook her two year diploma course in journalism, there was no hullabaloo about it as a career. No one would particularly stop you on the streets or get crazy over social media updates. Thus she quietly did her studies and proceeded for internship at Bilblia Husema Radio for three months. She did her best and was added another three months and she gained useful skills. She proceeded to Waumini Radio as a volunteer for one year but due to financial restrictions, they could not keep the volunteers so she stayed at home as she sought elusive jobs. But these two years had helped her greatly in giving her the skills of broadcasting. She had a vision for her life and though media jobs were hard to come by, she wasn’t going to waste her time nursing her regrets. This saw her go back to school and studied counselling psychology for six months. She then volunteered in a Children’s Home for a period but this was not something permanent. The Favourite | 11

Her opening to something more rewarding came in the form of a phone call one day while she was just at home with nothing to do. It is said that your net worth is worth your network. She can swear by the benefits of doing your tasks well no matter how humble and relating well with people. Weldon Kirui of KBC, a producer, called her and urged her to make haste and present herself at the station. Interviews were going on and he felt that she stood a chance. Though she had given up on media jobs, she went there as fast as she could. But she found the interviews done and it took Kirui’s insistence to the Head Radio Sophie Kilee to have her considered to do a voice test. Her voice was gem and it arrested the attention of other producers. Later Sophie Kilee called her to inform her of another series of interviews. The competition was quite tough in four phases beginning with 300 down to the few needed. Eventually she got the job together with Bonnie Musambi. She did her show at night until she was promoted to do the breakfast show with Bonnie for 1 1/2 years . She then went for maternity leave for her firstborn and on her return, her boss, King’asia, agreed to give her a lighter shift thus went to the morning show for one year. Another offer came to her through a phone call from the HR Standard Group. She had a discussion with them and after this poaching; she landed a job at Radio Maisha being paired with Emmanuel Mwashumbe. They hosted the Drive Show from 4:00-7:00pm. The management later saw the need of shifting her to the mid-morning show “Staarabika”, Mon- Fri from 10:00am-12:00pm. They had been great with Emmanuel, two strong media personalities and this change was also part of maintaining high ratings for their radio shows. She settled well in her new assignment. So this is where she rocks her vibrant voice and brilliant brains and kind heart.

What has grounded this Upward Move? For one, she went back to school and

The college fees became a hurdle and my maternal uncle in Nairobi had to step in and see mw through. Once I got my internship I had to honour my responsibility as first born. I would send 1000 sh home every month. This would go towards buying mom’s medication. Since my younger brothers were in class1 and 2, I would go to Gikomba and buy second hand uniform, package it, and deliver it at Nyamakima as a parcel to be sent home in Nakuru. I did what I could for my parents and brothers with the little I had. It was unfortunate mom passed on 10 years ago just as I was getting started in my career but she was a great woman.”

My male colleagues were taken to the bushes and I felt vulnerable and no amount of explaining of our honest production job was being heeded. Out of the blues one of the officers linked my voice to my mid-morning show and we were let free with a request not to make that encounter public. The ordeal was frightening and humiliating and annoying.

MELODIES OF PRAISE: BLESSED CHARLES KAMONDO By Suzie

It is Albert E. Einstein who said, "Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them." As the year 2020 came to a close and the world was preparing to celebrate a brand new year, l found myself in Mwihoko. This is a flourishing area just on the outskirts of Nairobi. I thought of the meaning in Gikuyu - hope. Generally, hope represents desire, expectation, prospect and trust. I was in the area to interview an amazing man, full of faith and hope. His house was extremely clean and my host served me fruits and made me feel at home. Even as l reflected on the year 2020 that had turned things upside down due to the pandemic, l felt hopeful. I was re- energized by the determination and positivity of my host. His story could easily provide excuses for being bitter with life, yet there was not a single hint of remorse or blame or self-pity. What a challenge! I was then determined that come what may, 2021 would see me embracing the joys life offers. Meet Charles Kamondo Wanjugu. BRAVING PAIN: SHINING HOPE GAKENIA’S TESTS IN LIFE. By Suzie

Babies are sweet little darlings, thus everyone adores them. However, behind the scenes there are stories of pain and agony associated with these adorable angels. Nature has its drawbacks for not everyone conceives effortlessly. Then comes the 9 months when the baby should be comfortable in their womb nest. There is this romantic picture of a beautiful baby bump and baby kicking happily and dear ones getting excited over all this. Yet this period is delicate and can be traumatizing even to the point of death. These were the realities I reflected on as I sat to interview one strong lady who has stories of struggle, pain and lessons of triump regarding this one aspect of life. But as they say, all is well that ends well. This gave birth to two twins to add to their elder sister and also a bigger vision of bringing hope and knowledge power to others in similar dark spaces. This interaction within the confusing COVID-19 space is an eye-opener. Life has shown us that it is sweet and promising yet can be fragile, short and give no guarantees. The circumstances of the interview were also unusual. That the CS of Health Mutahi Kagwe has kept drumming into us of a new normal phase was too real even to me. I had to do the interview in my house. But I was amazed by the flexibility of this happy soul who was so focused and very set for the interview. Meet Josphine Wambui Kinyuti popularly known as Gakenia, which was the name the grandmother she is named after was known by. True to the name she brings good cheer around her. She is a married parent and mother to 4 daughters. 22 | The Favourite

Real Life She grew up in Murang’a County, Township area of Kongo-ini Village. Her schooling began in Kongo-ini Primary School then joined Kibutha Secondary. Immediately after her form 4 exam, her mother who owned a hotel in town, encouraged her to take up a casual job rather than joining her at the hotel. She explained this would make her more independent. Thus, she became a Bank cleaner working between 7-9am which earned her 1,700sh which was quite adequate for her needs. Since they had explained to her father that she was in Murang’a Town for computer lessons, she would then study computer between 10a.m-3p.m. that was her hustle for 1 year 9 months. To prepare for the career world, she joined Aviation College Nairobi to study Mass Communication. Her father wanted her to make it her goal to get higher education. With this in mind, the other man in her life, her loving husband assisted her in joining Daystar University for a degree in Communication majoring in PR. She worked in the media industry for a while mainly the Gikuyu Vernacular Stations. With time she pursued consultations, PR, Events and MC jobs. Meanwhile, in her early twenties, she married and got a firstborn girl. Life was moving on well until challenging moments loomed over her like a dark threatening cloud. In 2008/2009 when her daughter was 1 year 5 months, she was pregnant at 4 weeks and something went amiss. The family had gone visiting home in Murang’a in December 2008 when she developed labour pains. Occasionally pregnant women get false labour pains but this was a big deal. She confided in her mother and mother-in-law but both women did not see the big deal. Women had been getting pregnant before and according to her own mother, issues of pregnancy especially one that could not even be noticed were not to be discussed culturally. Her husband felt she could go to the local dispensary where women of the area went for their deliveries or even travel to Murang’a which was a big public hospital. But trust a woman’s intuition. Though young

at 25, she had exposure and the right information to make her own important decisions. She wanted to see a gynaecologist come what may. The hard rough road beckoned when the gyn announced this was a twin pregnancy and yes, these were labour pains and dilation was on. That meant what would be next would be a miscarriage. The doctor was clear that her uterus was incompetent and her husband was brought up to speed on the crisis they faced. The pain kept its crazy pace and a MacDonald Stitch was put in place. Then came the grim sentence of bed rest for the rest of the period. The situation was so tough and in the busy Nairobi where people leave houses to go to work the whole day, it was lonesome for an extrovert. It also meant being put on sedatives to facilitate sleep and curb the pain. This resulted in a Zombielike depressed Gakenia who had lost her laugh at the turn of events. Factor in a young baby in her most vulnerable toddler stage the terrible twos. Put her around a mother who wants to be left alone and who physically is drained to handle the energy and attention seeking of a child. Put them in a house of young inexperienced partners and see how vulnerable the three become. At 20 weeks, her water broke yet the babies were not yet ready to face the world and this saw her hospitalized for a week and interventions put in place to save these babies. Later on a routine clinic visit for an injection to boost mother and babies, she heard the Gyn calling to find out whether the theatre was free as she had an emergency. Then as action set in, she realized she was the emergency. The doctor didn’t mince words. Those babies had to be got out through a CS like yesterday! She was dazed. Her husband was at work and there was the Nairobi traffic to contend with. she signed the forms, was wheeled to Theatre and at barely 26 years, she was a mother to three girls. One of the twins had breathing issues but this soon was sorted. All was fine now or so she thought. What a rude awakening awaited the couple on their release from hospital! Here was a newly delivered mother with a CS wound to heal. Here The Favourite | 23

were two little bundles demanding attention. Breastfeeding became a monumental task. One twin had colic which left her fretful and especially at night could not sleep. There was an older baby who turned 3 years just then and knew the newcomers had come to replace her. So, she sought attention her own way and even broke the TV and this would earn her beatings; She felt a burden to parents who were on edge. In all this, her husband was her strongest pillar but he still had his day job to attend to and some little sleep was needed to be functional. He had stood with the pregnant wife every single moment and was still playing the knight in shining armor. But eventually, all these events and demands overwhelmed the young wife and mother. On a visit to a clinic in the estate they were living in, the doctor enlightened her on PostPartum Depression. Things weren’t clicking. She became more aware of her state and incidents started being more profound. By this time, she had enrolled her girl in school and when taking her lunch one day, 24 | The Favourite

she met a friend also taking lunch to her child in another school. She escorted the friend who delivered her baby’s food and proceeded to the salon for plaiting. On return home, her daughter challenged her on why she never took lunch to her. She was adamant she had given the teacher until the young girl pointed out she had left it at home on the table. She noted more of this odd behaviours from herself. Luckily, the doctor linked her to a specialist who took her through therapy. With time, things were looking up and they moved from the rentals to their house in Membley Clayworks area. She decided to be a stay-athome mother for 3 years until 2012. Unfortunately, a small accident at home became a major disaster when her knee-cap twisted so horribly that her leg faced backwards. The ligaments, tendons and anything knee were dysfunctional. She had to endure a 7 hours surgery in an atmosphere where she loathed hospitals. She was now back to that old point of immobility. Her knee was set in such a way she couldn’t move it in-order for the wound to heal.

She couldn’t even go to the toilet. She had to use bedpans. Things had to be done for her, another bout of depression set in. After 3 months, the therapist would come to the house. The knee had to be “taught” to fold and be flexible. The term excruciating pain cannot adequately describe the ordeal. She had to re-learn how to walk ,step by step. She had by then come to learn that her body had been weakened by the long period of pregnancy bed rest and the subsequent depletion of vital elements needed in body building. But one thing was clear, she had to learn how to walk without support come what may. This she eventually did but at a cost. She also learnt to be more appreciative of the challenged and anything that goes towards their comfort and practical living. She had to learn to live with artificial templates to make her knee functional. The healing journey was long. The Thika Super High Way was under construction. The trenches/ ditches were a living nightmare as she couldn’t jump across. Then the

Real Life people with attitude. Her walking style was changed but out there people classified her as being proud earning her disparaging remarks from strangers and touts. But she moved on. In the midst of these tribulations, she reflected a lot on women. Her, Gakenia, had the means and knowhow of where to seek help and an understanding of what she felt. What about that woman at the grassroots? What about that naïve young

mother in a changing world where communal support is wanting? So in 2013, she launched her ‘Salute Mama’ initiative. Its core mandate was to: -Bring awareness to women on pregnancy complications -To empower women to help them face their challenges in a better frame of mind.

ANOTHER

Bright Start

BY FR.NJUE Holy Trinity Buruburu 1Parish

Every New Year, people are filled with great expectations that what was not working will work. There is hope that we will have the energy and resources to accomplish all the long awaited things we have been planning to do. 2020 was not different. We all thought the year was pregnant with favours. Suddenly things changed in the first quarter. Totally and drastically changed! What was thought of as a Chinese disease- their problem far away from us-became a World issue. All sectors were affected. Religious, social, political, economic, educational and medical fields were shaken. Nothing was normal after the COVID-19 virus showed its ugly side. Human relationships were undergoing a testing never experienced before.

we had to keep off our places of worship, His presence stayed with us in our various corners. He taught us lasting lessons on the vanity of our glorified self-securities. The reality of our human limitation, death and fickleness of attachment to a material world has been a great lesson to us. God in this New Year is inviting us to start again. He is giving us an invitation to focus on a new world, a New Jerusalem, a glorious life.

However, all is not lost. God always has a way of coming through for His people. Amidst all this uncertainty, love for one another was affirmed especially to those we are very close. Through our faith in God, our super power, we came to realize Gods Hand in our lives. Even when

As we begin a New Year and wonder where the year 2020 went, a majority of us feel stuck, tired, sick, full of questions of what next and quite hopeless. However, the beauty of every new day and every new year is that we are alive. We are not dead. Thus life has to move on for we have

Despite the discouragements, confusion and disorientation brought about by COVID-19, life is still beautiful. This is so because life is not defined by our circumstances, what we go through the happenings in our lives, but by God who is the fullness of life.

a mission and we need to realize it. When an artist is at work, he reflects on what is in his mind and draws something beautiful and unique only up to then seen by them alone in their mind. In the same way, all of us have something beautiful and unique we ought to bring to the world. All is not lost for we have the potential to start again and become fruitful and great. As we work on our broken selves, I invite you to reflect on the life of Prophet Elijah. He lived in evil times. After a great mission of spiritual cleansing, he faced the threat of the wicked Queen Jezebel. He had touched a sensitive spot as he dealt with corrupt paganism and she wanted him killed. He felt discouraged and thought God was far from Him. He even desired to die. In this miserable state of life, Elijah did four things which awakened his spirit and helped him move on with his mission: . He took some rest which brought renewal.it allowed him to see things

differently and so was able to listen to his inner self and also gain some new energy. . He ate. This physical nourishment brought physical strength. .He prayed. This re-awakened his connection with his creator and the giver of the mission. .He went to work. He reclaimed his value and the person he truly was. Dear friends, as we move from 2020 to 2021, many of us are in the same state as Elijah. But as we learn from him, let us start again. Let us recollect ourselves, ensure what we consume is healthy, get connected with God and slowly we will discover our value and give the very best in the New Year 2021. The year is promising. We are full of life. Let each one of us get into it with a mind full of hope and confidence in God.

BABY MODELLING 32 | The Favourite

Fashion & Style A lot of parents desire to make a brand out of their little one. They’d like to see if their child is interested in modeling or not. Of course the best way to start is when they are a baby, creating a portfolio for them that they can use in the present and refer to in the future. As the baby proceeds to the toddler stage you’ll have realized if they want to model or if they have an interest in any other talents eg - dancing -ballet - Singing -Acting Do a photoshoot once the child is ready and keep on redoing one every six months. Open an Instagram page for them and keep it active. This will be fundamental in the future. Keep it decent and professional. Over the years you’ll either maintain their brand as a model or find a new path for them

Life isn’t perfect There has been a new discovery but your hair can be." from research done by hair experts in relation to the long waist line hair on the women at Republic of Chad. The research attributes their long African hair to a plant called CHEBE. Chebe is a plant mostly grown in Chad and some parts of sudan. Fully grown seeds are dried and grinded to form the chebe powder which is applied topically on the hair using karkar oil or any other good organic oil such as coconut oil or olive oil. The chebe powder is like a fertilizer that needs to stay on hair for as long as possible. The super combination of chebepowder and karkar oil which is traditional oil from Chad that acts as catalyst to speed up the rate of hair growth is the secret to hair growth for our African hair. It even boosts growth of the stubborn and slow growing 4c type hair. Is there an alternative way of using the chebe powder and karkar oil? SELF-HEALING As a Naturopathic and a Health Coach Expert, I do support nature's healing power. The body has an inherent ability to heal itself. This begins at the cellular level, where your body works at Self-maintaining, Self-constructing, Self-directing and Self-healing. As a Naturopathic Doctor I identify and remove the obstacles to healing. The Self-healing power is within us if we only fuel our body with the right fuel. To give this power the opportunity to maintain our physical being, we must co-operate with it and the principles that apply to it. This means that we must not allow the impurities that develop within the body as to read as well as the impure substances that come from without

to counteract or work against the processes that are endeavouring to maintain the body's integrity.

The human body is amazing. One of the awe-inspiring things about it is the ability to heal itself. The building block of your body cells are dynamic, living units that are constantly working to self-repair and regenerate. The body organs and systems work hard on their own to support recovery from injury and illness. THE BODY IS SELF-HEALING thus, bruises vanish, cut heals, broken bones mend. If the body can do all those things, then it can also overcome the handicaps represented by illness. The Healing Power within

Health & Nutrition

the body is GOD ORDAINED. When healthy people cut themselves they are confident that they will heal. The healing power of the body is seen in the way that the body treats diseases. In order to allow the healing power to heal we must not work against it but cooperate with it. Many diseases occur when people abuse their bodies or do not give their bodies the basic tools that it needs to keep itself healthy over long period of time.

They harm the body rather than help it get over the disease and they slow the healing process. To avoid illness we must avoid the cause of illness. To heal disease we must remove the cause of diseases. To build health we must employ the agents of health. The popular methods of preventing and healing diseases, neither prevent disease nor restores health, because they do not remove the cause of diseases.

and supplementing the Nutrients which many people are Deficient because of the Toxins, Mucous and other inhibitors. In order to maintain healthy body, we need to ensure we take care of our bodies, this includes Detoxifying with Natural Medicine, Healthy diet more of Raw food followed by active lifestyles as well as going for regular check up and taking care of any problems that arise before they become a problem.

Poisonous substances introduced into the body works against the healing process of the body. They do not remove impurities because they themselves are impurities. They do not remove the cause of illhealth, because they themselves are contributed to the cause of ill-health.

As a Naturopathic Doctor I focus on identifying and removing obstacles to recovery, in order to facilitate the Natural Healing ability to the patients. There is nothing outside the body's healing functions. We must help the body through Cleansing, Boosting immunity, Detoxifying

SHOW LOVE BY Suzie

Who thought that there could be a cessation of movement in our country and the world? These are stories we heard from the grandparents and age mates who saw similar actions during the fight for freedom. When Covid -19 forced governments to stop movement between certain regions, lovers have learned to expect the unexpected. The person you take for granted might be locked away from you when you could not even imagine it. This year start keeping your relationship healthy by appreciating the person who every day cares about you. Do not wait for specific occasions or assume the person knows. Express gratitude to your love every day. It is time to put the American Singer Charley Pride's words, "you've got to kiss an angel good morning," into action. Let your significant other know you care about him or her in the morning, and they will spend the entire day knowing they have a special place in your heart. The morning attention should only be the beginning. Break the monotony by calling your partner other times of the day to know how the person is doing. It will be a surprise if you surprise a partner by calling in the evening. The person will be happy after expecting to hear you ask if he or she is already home only to hear, "I just called to say I love you." Love thrives when there is no hard feeling. Things might not always be bright but express gratitude for small things by your partner. Thank the person for doing small favors and express the way you feel good about it. Times end fast, and soon it will be Valentine's Day. Start showing acts of love without waiting for February. Share memories of your good times and even have a good laugh about the low moments you overcame together. Create a unique name only you will be using to address your lover. Other people might overhear, but do not inform them of the meaning or source because it will take the mystery away. You might also surprise your partner with a new name in a different language. For instance, would it not be lovely to see the puzzle on the face of your English speaking partner if you call him or her "mon amour." It will be a joy to reveal it means my love in French, and you will laugh about it. Buy gifts without waiting for special occasions like a birthday, anniversary, or holiday are among the greatest strategies to break the monotony in your relationship. Buy flowers, tickets to a concert, smart shoes, clothing or gadget like a phone. Try writing a love note to hand over together with the gift. Write words have a way of sticking in mind. Remember to be there for your partner during challenges and not wait to say sweet words only when things are going right. Go out of the way to uplift your partner and improve life even when you will not be a direct beneficiary. 44 | The Favourite
