When we are done with yesterday and thus live our today, we always look forward to tomorrow with a yearning, a hope, a dream of better times. Yet,as we make our day to day choices, we often do things that make that very dream go up in smoke. It is J.P. Morgan- An American Financier who stated: A man always has two reasons for doing anything- a good reason and the real reason.
The Morals Of Our Tomorrows
But when we look around, we are busy messing with our tomorrows. We cut corners right left and center and forget that our today's mistakes will cost us dearly tomorrow. Take for instance the ban on plastics! We are all suffering as the ozone layer gets destroyed; As our environment is polluted; as cancers causes havoc. Yet we still insist that Mama Mboga should have that plastic paper just for you. When Shisha is banned because of health repercussions, we protest that our business will be hurt. In our churches we turn a blind eye to sin just because so and so is our friend or a financier of our Church activities. Our children become brats and we spare the rod since we feel no one should touch them and we have invested so much for them and not in them. We waste time in empty rhetoric instead of engaging in positive practical work that will give a bountiful harvest tomorrow. We are all busy campaigning and fighting for human rights but no one is mentioning that rights go with responsibility for tomorrow to be right. So the big question is,where are those morals that were part and parcel of people in the days past. When honesty,integrity, diligence, kindness, generosity and many more made people humane? Where is the resilience and courage that helped individuals go through vagaries of nature and horrors like the world war and continue living positively? Where then is our tomorrow when Fathers and mothers are killing each other daily after domestic squabbles and even killing innocent children who we always know are the hope of tomorrow? Let us change our attitude as individuals and live our today knowing that we have a tomorrow that is Worth taking care of.

In the thick of things during the American Civil Rights Crusade, Martin Luther King Junior kept emphasizing, "We are saying we're God's children and that we don't have to live like we are forced to live." Hence, by this mantra, can we sum Innocent Njuguna's life- a life of zeal for what he loves best. Meet Innocent Njuguna Waceke a vibrant focused actor from Kiambu County, Githunguri Sub-county, Ngemwa village where he was born. At primary school, an interest in acting was born culminating in serious engagement in Drama at Kanunga High School where he scripted solo verses and narratives upto provincial level. At Majenta college in Nairobi, he studied Journalism at Diploma level. But there was some quest that led him to hustling as a tout after college for three years. The acting bug kept gnawing at him thanks to Eric, a high school friend who had inspired him to this line. He engaged in various advertisements and activations being spurred on by good friends like Patrick Kimanzi and Keith. His face has appeared in Celtel and DelMonte adverts . In 2007, he aired in an awareness creation on on Post election violence dubbed 'Mapatano Si Mapambano.' In the intervening years a young man charts his destiny, finding a balance can be tricky. Innocent's mom was single and he is an orphan who lives with a sister and a granny 100 years old. Touting may bring the bread home but he was set for higher things and those he encountered challenged him to get out. Friends took it upon themselves to Link him with potential employees with higher financial returns. Like Kevo from Zuku who saw in him a

prime marketer for decoders, good pay, medical cover and commission. A neighbour called about TRM's opening and a job at the Bata Shop. But no, the call to star in movies made him turn down these job offers. For nine months, he woke up and went for auditions undaunted. Times were hard yes, and Sundays found him being a relief driver for Roba, a friend and taxi driver. From that he got a few shillings for credit and fare to source auditions.

It was Celine Dion who Sang, "My heart will go on ..." and Innocent's passion fired his heart to beat on and finally a small break for a minor role opened and his first ever paying job began at 3,000= an episode which were far apart. Then openings came and he thanks a friend Sylvia Mweru, now abroad, for changing his life. Today, he is living a dream, loves what he does. Currently, he works with Inooro TV, Ntv- Pendo, Maisha Magic, a number of adverts , World Tofauti with Avril, and he is still counting his acting roles. A number of established actors
So often in life, dark clouds hover and cover the sunshine as happened on Saturday, 17th January 2015. On set shooting Pendo, he realized he had forgotten his wardrobe and rushed home . unfortunately at Tinga'nga, an accident, head-on collision happened between a pick-up and the motorbike he was on. Survival instinct made him jump off before the impact but his landing was fatal: a collar bone fracture, rib hairline fracture, hip and left leg fracture, 7% head injury and serious tissue trauma. Good Samaritans rushed him to Kiambu Hospital and those at the accident The Favourite | 7
Inspiring Lives used his phone which had no password to call friends and relatives who rushed him to Agakhan. Thanks to Drs Karuri and kimani (a cousin), he was stabilised and the many who came to hospital raised 100,000= pronto. He was transferred to Avenue Hospital and went through a life- saving operation for 8hours then moved to HDU. His physiotherapist Timothy shocked him when he appeared and talked of assisting him to learn walking. That far, it had not hit him that the accident had been that bad. But after three days of will power, he could go down and up the stairs and he insisted on being released. It's at such times one realises the value of friends. Jeff Kuria of Inooro FM sounded the plea and through social media, fans and well wishers had contributed immensely and the bill was settled. He will forever be indebted to all who came in; family, fans, friends, well-wishers, the medical team and the acting fraternity.

.Acting in a romance scene where intimate kissing arises its a challenge in real life especially with your partner but there must be mutual understanding that this is a job, just acting and no emotional entanglements. .Dealing with enthusiastic lady fans- Being diplomatic and firm helps set boundaries.

. Just like Lupita said, 'dreams are valid'. To all youngsters, go out and pursue that passion. . Make sure you win everyday.

In the ambience of a classic hotel in our beautiful Nairobi, I carry out an engaging lively interview with the beautiful, confident, jovial and focused Soila Nauru, an enterprising jeweller.
Her mother made necklaces and at 11 years, Soila could make herself necklaces .In secondary and high school (o and A levels), her best subject was maths and she joined Kenyatta university to study BSc. Statistics later working in a logistics company. While there, she learnt
how to run and manage a company. However, life takes us through different trails and some lose their appeal and we disembark to source that spark that ignites our life’s purpose. Many times it may be dramatic ,away from the beaten path just like Crysta Gale sings in 'River Road’ -here I go once again / with my suitcase in my hand / And i'm running away down River Road / And I swear once again / that i'm never coming home / yes, i'm chasing my dreams down River Road…. An illustrious career in the office beckoned, but Soila packed her suitcase and swore to chase her dreams in the fashion world. Way back under her mom's tutelage, she had learnt beadwork and later as a conscious young campus woman of fashion, she designed her own earrings and other adornments. Friends liked it and in 2009 in campus, a hobby became a side hustle which brought in some extra coins .Crunching numbers at work

Real life later turned out to be a mundane task and her hobby gave her the vent out and actually became a business .She actually realized her formal education had set the springboard for the future big thing in her life self-employment!
6. Advice to young girls keen on fashion industry? • Establish your passion, plunge in and pursue it .Have patience, a brand is not built in one day .Showcase yourself gradually and hope –time will give you a break.
She thus quit formal employment and went full time in business mainly majoring in jewellery, belts and clothes and plans to start a leather handbag line in the near future. She has a production workshop with a few employees but for marketing she engages others on demand at sale points. She works closely with salons and what she wears daily also brands her.Transiting secure financial engagement to a start up with uncertain financial flow can be mind –boggling and tense. In such circumstances Joan Baez advises, ‘’As long as one keeps searching, the answers come." So, Soila pushed on and today she is a proud jewellery designer based in Nairobi.
7. Best meal and best birthday outing? • Coconut and fried liver. • Outing with hubby and ziplining.

How do you relieve lifes pressures ? • Watching movies, listening to music,doing exercises, travelling and visiting beautiful Kenyan sceneries. • Ironically, she is able to work best under pressure. 2. Who do you look up to in your life journey? • Julie Gichuru, I admire her beauty and humility. • Ophrah Winfrey, for just who she is! I would just love to one day have dinner with her, network and share on business and personal branding. 5. to our soil. Reaping big from farming. Ever come across this African proverb: To one who does not know, a small garden is a forest? Whatever the answer, the truth is that knowledge is power .The founding father of this great nation of Kenya was quite clear that the greatest enemies to self-sustainance were: hunger, poverty and illiteracy .Fast forward, 50 plus years later, we are still reeling under a high cost of living. A lot has been achieved yes, but we seem to move round in circles of natural vagaries and lack of enough food is central to all this. As Kenyans struggled with a severe prolonged dry spell, I met two vibrant young Kenyans who are looking at farming as Aladdin's magic lamp that will bring economic liberation and peace to our nation .Everytime you tune to Inoro TV,
you encounter them bringing their version of Smart Farmer Clinic in the vernacular station .They are none other than Kimiti the host and the consultant Agronomist Thuku. Samuel Kimiti Gitau was born in Nyahururu as the 5th born in a family of six, but grew up in Gitaru, Kikuyu in Kiambu county .School life in terms of academics was a smooth affair being a gifted child .However, the developmental years had their challenges since the teenager joining four different secondary schools: Ngumo,Central High, River Bank, Nanyuki and finally sitting his exam in custody with relation to a strike. But that didn’t stop him to joining JKUAT to study Industrial Chemistry and worked in the labs at ICIPE for a while. But his restless spirit urged him to move away from the
confining walls of a science lab and thus joined KIMC to study journalism (production). This landed him at KBC as a producer for quite a while as a producer of ‘Je Huu ni ungwana’ hosted by the icon Mambo Mbotela; 'Gospel Hour' with Leah Kabaria, 'Ultimate choir show' with Magdaline Mokaya and within this period had his taste of being a host or co-host of the various programs. He then joined Royal Media and worked at Citizen and currently is at Inooro TV, where he has done an array of programs and voice overs. His flagship is now 'Mugambo Wa Murimi’ ' (voice of the farmer) with producer Paul Gatere . Chris Kirubi has really challenged Kimiti to make farming work in

Real life Kenya with his advice that the next millionaires and billionaires in Kenya are the farmers. He is thus happy to bring the vital information on better farming strategies to our sitting rooms as he transverses the wide span of Agricultural projects in Kenya .To Kimiti, farming is a career, a business like any other, the in thing today for people of all walks of life. He believes in it so much that when not working for Royal Media, he engages in farming at a personal level. To him man was basically created as a hunter and gatherer and this old age wisdom has seen other professionals like bankers, doctors and politicians engaging in serious farming. His program has been a success and he can see the impact today as more Kenyans have embraced farming in a big way from vertical farming on balconies, to green houses, to large farms all using intensive integrated

modern technology. It is a lucrative venture with many openings as one can choose the variety to engage in from dairy, poultry, outdoor, green house, name them , which are enjoyable and profitable. In this quest, Thuku came into the picture as the professional guy .Jeremiah Thuku was born and grew up in Lari, Kinale Kiambu county which is well known for the farming background of ‘waru’ (potatoes) and vegetables. He attended Mugiko Primary and his hard work earned this village boy a slot in the prestigious National Mangu High School. He proceeded to Egerton for a Bachelors Degree in AgriBusiness Management graduating in 2015. His expertise lies in helping farmers to invest in their lands by strategic land management. Being in the same field - farming - in different capacities, their meeting
was God sent. Kimiti was looking for a consultant while Thuku was a fan of the program and seeking out to disseminate the vast knowledge he had .Thuku easily fit in and the producer Paul Gatere was for the idea .They all hit it off the wheel was complete and rolling smoothly .So Thuku wa Nematodes became the third eye giving professional advice to farmers who lacked knowledge. For Thuku, his mantra is : Agriculture is the backbone of the country ; the biggest business . With professional advice, a famer is able to check income , follow-up on markets and consultants do help in market intelligence, check on pests managements. Basically, Thuku will walk with you step by step and complete the circle of prosperity from farmer to company to market. They have started the Mugambo foundation such that as they work with farmers, the less fortunate
Real life in the society get charity .They work with individual farmers and groups. However, like any other venture, there are challenges especially when farmers are conservative and disregard advice given to them .Others may inconvenience them for not telling the truth thus giving wrong information and keeping time. Others expect to be funded. They are both unanimous as we conclude the interview that young people ought to embrace farming seriously, be professional about it and thus being positively engaged they will not find themselves being used to cause chaos by others for the returns are assured and you're your own boss. And as we cleared our pizza and ended the engaging interview, the funny and well informed Kimiti shared his dream of being in the forefront of upping the farming game through the TV program and bringing all governors in Kenya on board within 5 years by 2022. For Thuku Wa Nematodes, he wants to be the best consultant in the field and his 5 year dream is to see Kiambu county embracing Agriculture fully and doing great things thanks to food stability .We end with a hearty laughter for Kimiti, the part time thespian will always bring on the smile making weighty matters less daunting. By Suzie Life is not a vacuum. Life is precious. Life cannot be gambled with. As we go through this God-given life, the words of a Swedish proverb can resonate with each one of us,that, "God gives every bird a warm,but he does not throw it into the nest." This means that every individual must strive to put in their share of building God's kingdom and in comes GOA. GOA means the Glory Outreach Assembly. GOA began in 1991 under Bishop David Thagana a man of God who received a divine call to make Christian disciples of all nations. As a family of Christ, GOA embraces people as they compassionately serve, pursue peace and embody Godly leadership as their core values. Their mission therefore entails fulfilling the great commission locally and internationally for the glory of God.
This means engaging with all groups of people through improvement of quality of life especially for the vulnerable and engaging in conflict resolution at diverse levels. This calls for rooting for sound governance in all areas of leadership.
Who then is Bishop Thagana?
This is an ordained religious leader a husband and father who received his calling while fellowshipping with friends and family at home in Karima village in Nyandarua county. At that point he was a teacher of English at Karima Girls High School. He resigned and went into full time ministry. He is the founder and current executive director of Glory Outreach Assembly; The International Director of International Leadership Institute (ILI) English/Swahili speaking African Nations; a mentor and coach at GOA
kahawa Wendani.His family are all part of the GOA family in various capacities.
How was the transition?
Any change has challenges. This included the fear of the unknown especially having to quit a stable job yet the new responsibility required financing. However the words of John price, a speaker during a leaders seminar in 1997 at Pangani Girls organised by Morris Cerullo helped to make it more definite and focused. "The greatness of a man is determined by the course he lives for and the price he is willing to pay for its achievement"

She goes by the name Risper Opiyo, popularly known as Binti. She is 25 years old, a fashion designer and image consultant at Binti Afrique, a lady’s bold innovative plunge to high-end fashion. She started Binti Afrique in 2015 with an aim of being a game changer in the Kenya fashion industry. So far, they are a house hold name and they are the go to when you need to make a fashion statement. At Binti Afrique, they will guide you in presenting yourself to your best advantage and in expressing your highest potential. They offer image consultancy, personal branding, etiquette consulting and fashion designing. She is currently studying International Business Administration in Management and Marketing at the United States International University (USIU-Africa), With the vision and mission of making Binti Afrique a LUXURIOUS global fashion brand. 2 The difference between fashion design and costume design?
There is no difference between the two. Fashion design is application of art and aesthetic to clothing which is done by a designer who sets a fashion trend while costume design is designing from a costume designer an overall appearance of a character or performer of a film, stage production or a television program.
3.Where did you learn the art?
Not really, my training comes from within. I remember back when I was a kid, I used to make doll clothes for myself and my friends. My mum taught me how to sew using a thread and a needle and I used to keenly watch her make clothes for our neighbors with an old school sewing machine. And that’s where the passion for designing began.

Social media plays a vital role in fashion and design. First of all, it is the only medium where we can easily and freely expose our work to a large audience , 2nd,we rely on it to get instant feedback from the general public on our creations, 3rd , with social media I am sure of getting referrals as people simply share the pieces I have made, 4th , we get instant positive or negative reactions from the audience to a particular attire and see what adjustments to make . 5th, social media has made our small local business be recognized globally. I recall when I had an order for a neckpiece that I did from south Africa via twitter.
8.Why fashion design?
I chose fashion designing because I love expressing myself through art and fashion for me is art I eat, sleep , and breathe fashion and that is why they call me Binti the fashion icon.
9.Define fashion?
Fashion is the expression of the inner you through color and fabric. Ideally you are what you wear.
10.Skills for a successful fashion designer?
One needs to express the three Ps. passion, patience and persistence. 4.What inspires you? I follow BIG names in the global fashion industry to stay updated. The likes of Donatela Versace, Coco Chanel, Yvon Fon Furstenberg, Yves Saint Laurent, Gert Johan Coetzee, Karl Lagerfeld, Rihanna Kanye west … the list is endless. These are legends who set trends in the fashion world for the rest to follow. I also watch a lot of international fashion shows and fashion weeks (Paris, Milan, London and New York) no other fashion show can beat these.
12.Your style?
My personal style is POLISHED, SLEEK and BOLD. A bright colored official shirt, official coat, fitting jeans, stiletto heels, Burgundy matte lipstick, Michael kors watch and dark Ray bans is my signature look. I just love it.
13.Your best area in fashion?
The area in fashion I wish to work with in is Haute Couture. The magnificent creations that comes out the designer’s creativity is mind blowing and breath taking. I fell in love with the Haute couture when I once saw an evening gown made by Atelier Versace out small pieces of mirror, Organza petals, layers of metal and it was handmade…oohh my gosh, it is a killer piece of art.
14.Dealing with an arrogant client?
Hmmm this one is tough to answer because I haven't met one before and I pray not to meet one...but then again, I would be lucky if I met one since they say smooth sailing never makes real captains. If I such a case arises I will simply use my smiling charm to calm the situation... hehehe and then analyze the clients grievances one by one and quickly come up with proper and appropriate answers as we do the talking under a cup of hot coffee. It helps to calm down the nerves.
15.Relating with others in the industry?
I am a super duper confident working with models and other designers as they are part of my echo system and I can’t ignore them. Models help us sell and promote our works through runway shows or photoshoots whereas designers always challenge you to grow and always be on your toes as trends come and go. What is in fashion today expires by tomorrow and a new trend comes and so an alliance with other designers always keep you updated and fresh.
16.Relating with past and present fashion trends?
Hmmmm…fashion keeps on repeating itself. what we see now was there before. what was trendy in the 90’s has been modified and is now trending in 2018. A good example is the fringe, it was first a hit in 1960 during the Rock 'n' Roll Era and now it's in the runways. Jimmie Hendrix wore a fringe jacket at a music festival and has become iconic ever since.
17.Your motivation?
What motivates me as a fashion designer is the ever consistent of demand in apparels. Once a renowned celebrity rocks a certain outfit and becomes a hit, phones start calling as people want similar look to the superstar. There is an upsurge of talented creatives. This means that the industry is growing and is becoming highly competitive as the days go by. This also highly motivates me and pushes me to be the best designer that can ever be.
18.Dealing with criticism?
I take criticism as a stepping stone to improve who I am and better my creation. I was once criticized for only dressing petite models and critics made it look like disregard plus models. For my first collection I used my measurement and the fact that I'm not a plus size, only petite models would fit in the clothes I made. I tried to fit a plus size model during one of the fashion show that I had done and it was almost a disaster …I thank God it was one-way runway and the models didn’t have to go

back. From my situations I folded my sleeves up and incorporated all models whether slim or plus size without any discrimination.
