Drink plenty of water - A healthy fluid intake helps flush out toxins, can reduce the risk of kidney stones and has numerous benefits for urological health. Keep hydrated, especially when engaging in activities that cause

sweating. It’s best to drink throughout the day, rather than periods of dehydration to drinking lots. Another tip is adding lemon juice to drinks, this increases the number of natural stone inhibitors in your urine. Don’t restrict your calcium intake, studies show that a normal calcium intake protects you from stone formation; a low calcium diet can increase your chance of stone formation. Foods linked to kidney stones include artificial sweeteners, acidic food and drinks and spicy foods. Most people aren’t aware that animal proteins can increase your risk of stones and are acidic. If you’re prone to kidney stones, avoid oxalate-rich foods. Foods that are reasonably high in oxalate should be taken in moderation. Avoid tinned, packet or processed foods which have a high salt content. Alton & Alresford • March 2019 Edition HUNDREDS ‘WALK THE LINE’ TO ALRESFORD TO RAISE £15,000 FOR MID HANTS RAILWAY in this year’s annual walk.” The funds will be used to re-ballast the track between Medstead & Four Marks and Ropley and maintain the trackbed. The Mid Hants Railway Ltd, nicknamed ‘The Watercress Line’ for its role in transporting the crop to London, is Hampshire’s only standard gauge heritage railway.

Walk the Line lets people walk along the track of the Watercress Line between Ropley and Alresford. Over 950 walkers dusted off their boots to raise over £14,750 to preserve an important part of the steam railway. Families took part in a three, six or ten-mile walk, each offering the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful stroll in the English countryside. Organiser, David Brace, said: “Walk the Line is a fantastic opportunity for all the family to see the Watercress Line from a different view and play an important part in securing its future.” “On behalf of all of the staff and volunteers at the Watercress Line, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part
