This August The Amp, The Courtyard’s new 1,400 seat pop-up venue, will be hosting 20 live events in the car park. But don’t worry, the cinema will be open as usual, just with a few di erences:
1. No Car Park - With the size of The Amp our car park will be out of action throughout August. We recognise this may cause additional costs to travel or parking, and so our cinema ticket prices have been reduced to £5 (excluding The Odyssey) to compensate for this. Blue Badge holders should update their access tags with Box Office to find out directly how we are looking after our customers with access needs this summer.
2. Food & Drink - The Café Bar will be running a limited offering during August. Service will be provided from The Courtyard Lounge on the first floor including the usual tea, coffee and cakes as well as a lunch service between 12pm – 2pm of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, fries and soup of the day. This service will also continue into the evening on Tue 11, Wed 12, Mon 17, Tue 18 & Tue 25 August between 5pm – 7pm. For our Breakfast Movies, it’s business as usual, just up on The Courtyard Lounge instead.
3. Entrance - To enter The Courtyard on The Amp’s performance evenings you will need to pass through a security check nearby our main entrance. We have timed our screenings to avoid clashes with large crowds attending live events. The Box Office will be fully accessible from outside The Amp boundaries and with the same opening hours as usual.
This may all be a little different, but once you’re in the Studio Theatre, we can guarantee you the same great cinema experience you expect from us. Find out more at courtyard.org.uk/theamp

We’d like to share our exciting new plans for the Studio
Our ground-floor Studio is a busy and versatile space - bringing together lovers of independent cinema, live screenings, children’s theatre, community showcases, folk music, stand-up comedy and much more. In 2025 alone, more than 45,000 tickets were issued for this space, welcoming thousands of people through its doors!
To ensure you can continue to enjoy inspiring experiences for years to come, we are launching the Make Room campaign to raise £130,000 by Spring 2027, with a view to refurbishing the Studio space for the autumn 2027 season.
What’s in the makeover
Wider padded seats with higher backs Cup holders
A new eco-friendly heating & cooling system
Additional soundproofing New flooring
The various improvements (see right) will transform the space, making it more comfortable, accessible and welcoming for everyone, while matching the quality of the experiences on stage and screen. All of which will support our charity to be here for future generations to enjoy what we all enjoy now!
