WELCOME TO LONDON’S INTERNATIONAL THEATRE The Coronet Theatre is a reimagined architectural and design jewel, originally built as a grand Victorian Playhouse, now a pioneering home for international, cross-disciplinary arts. Curated by Artistic Director Anda Winters, over the past decade it has become a significant cultural landmark. Known for world and UK premieres, its mission is to bring artists and art forms from around the world, championing work that would not otherwise be seen. The programme enables access for diverse audiences to world-class theatre, dance, music, film and visual arts through co-productions, commissions, and invited works. Centrally situated in London’s Notting Hill, The Coronet has two main spaces: The Auditorium and The Print Room Studio. With the additional performances and exhibitions in the bar, the atmospheric upper rooms, and basements, the whole building is a living global showcase.
POETRY CLUB: ANTHONY JOSEPH, RACHEL LONG, & ROGER ROBINSON Poetry Club returns to The Coronet Theatre for an evening of readings and conversation with three celebrated poets whose work moves between the intimate and the expansive, finding music, history and emotional truth in language. T. S. Eliot Prize winner Anthony Joseph, acclaimed poet and founder of the Octavia Poetry Collective Rachel Long, and multi-award winner Roger Robinson read from their latest collections and discuss the inspirations, experiences and ideas that shape their writing.
ANTHONY JOSEPH Anthony Joseph is a Trinidad-born poet, novelist, academic and musician. His collection Sonnets for Albert won the T. S. Eliot Prize and the OCM Bocas Prize for Poetry. He is the author of six poetry collections, three novels and numerous acclaimed albums, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Reading from Haunting the Black Air, Joseph’d new collection of poems spanning London, New York, Trinidad and beyond. Blending poetry, history and Caribbean cosmology, the collection moves through grief and joy with musicality and formal invention, unifying life’s beautiful fragments through rhythms of jazz and speech. “A polyphonic exploration of memory, diaspora and sound.” – Romalyn Ante
RACHEL LONG Rachel Long is the author of My Darling from the Lions and founder of the Octavia Poetry Collective for women of colour. She has been shortlisted for the Costa Poetry Award and the Rathbones Folio Prize, and has received a number of major literary honours. Rachel Long’s luminous new collection Sparrow on the Rooftop explores love, desire, longing and heartbreak with tenderness, wit and startling emotional precision. By turns fierce, funny and deeply moving, these poems map the complexities of intimacy and recovery. “Rachel Long’s poems are a gift: sensual, intelligent and emotionally precise.” – Bernardine Evaristo
ROGER ROBINSON Roger Robinson has won the T.S. Eliot Prize (2019), the RSL Ondaatje Prize (2020) and the Cholmondeley Award (2024). He is a Royal Society of Literature Fellow and has been shortlisted for the Derek Walcott Prize for Poetry, the OCM Bocas Poetry Prize, the Oxford Brookes Poetry Prize, and the European Prize for Freedom. Roger Robinson’s upcoming collection Some Sacred Harbour gathers together a lifetime’s work, reflecting on the joys and pains of life, and inspiring generations of Black writers. Whether demonstrating the intimacy of a father braiding his daughter’s hair, celebrating the joy of community at a house party or reflecting on the premature birth of his son in ‘Grace’, Robinson’s work is characterised by musicality, soul, technical precision and subtlety unlike any other poet. “Robinson is one of the most important poetic voices in the UK right now” – Raymond Antrobus
