What happened to the Graduate Students’ Association?
On Jan. 19, the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) will be holding a special general assembly (SGA) to address ongoing issues within the association. Throughout the month of December, members of the GSA started receiving a series of emails attributed to the former GSA president filled with serious allegations of fraud, misconduct, and discrimination taking place in the association. In case you missed it, here is a timeline of the key events. Nov. 22: The GSA claimed that the Council of Directors (COD) unanimously voted to suspend the former GSA president, Swathi Priya Pasumarthy. According to an emailed statement from the COD, this suspension came as the result of an internal investigation regarding the former president’s “conduct towards other members of the Executive Committee and members of the GSA’s permanent staff.” Continued on next page.
