Introducing SOCS: Our New Extra-Curricular and Sport Management System

From the start of the Spring Term, the PE Department will be moving over to a new digital platform called SOCS. This change is being introduced to ensure that parents and guardians can stay better informed about the full range of opportunities we offer, as well as when their child has been selected to represent the school.

The first phase of this transition will be SOCS Co-curricular, where parents and students will be able to view all the extra-curricular activities available through the department The system clearly lists dates, times, and sign-up options, making it easier for families to see what is on offer and register for clubs.

We have also invested in the SOCS Sport system. This will allow us to create digital team sheets for fixtures and events. These will be emailed directly to parents and guardians, enabling you to give consent efficiently and ensuring you are aware whenever your child is chosen to take part in school sport.

Before the end of this term, parents and guardians will receive an email with instructions on how to log in and access SOCS. Please keep an eye out for this message so you are ready for our full move to the system in January

We are excited about the improved communication and clarity SOCS will bring for students, families, and staff.

SPORTSAMBASSADORS25/26

We are excited to announce the new team of Sports Ambassadors for the 2025/26 academic year. These students have been selected for their enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to contribute to the continued growth of sport and physical activity across our school community.

Over the coming year, our ambassadors will play a key role in shaping the student sport experience They will:

Further develop their leadership skills through active involvement in whole-school sporting initiatives

Lead Student Voice meetings, ensuring that pupils’ ideas, interests, and feedback help drive the direction of PE and sport provision.

Organise and run our inter-tutor competitions, encouraging teamwork, participation, and a healthy sense of competition across year groups.

Work towards completing a Level 1 coaching, leadership, or officiating course in a sport of their choice, equipping them with nationally recognised skills and qualifications.

Our Sports Ambassadors are set to make a real impact this year, inspiring others, promoting physical activity, and representing student leadership at its best.

SPORTSLEADERS25/26

We are delighted to announce and congratulate our new Sports Leaders for the 2025/26 academic year! These students have shown outstanding commitment to sport and leadership, and we are excited to see the positive impact they will make across our school community

What does being a Sports Leader involve?

Representing ICC Sports Teams: Each leader will be attached to and support one of our school teams, helping with organisation and motivation.

Leading Inter-Tutor Competitions: They will play a key role in planning and running our popular tutor group competitions, ensuring events are fun and inclusive

Supporting One-Off Leadership Events: From primary school sports festivals to special activity days, our leaders will help deliver memorable experiences for younger students. Commitment to Sport Studies: All Sports Leaders either take Sport Studies or have chosen sport as part of their Year 10 options, showing their passion for physical education

This is a fantastic opportunity for these students to develop their leadership skills, gain valuable experience, and inspire others to get involved in sport. We look forward to seeing them in action throughout the year!

YEAR7BOYSFOOTBALL

After a hugely successful round of trials, which took place twice due to the level of talent, we chose our 15-man squad who have been a delight to work with thus far and worked for the badge extremely well. After five games, we played brilliantly, finding us winning every game, having only conceded 2 goals this season This meant it came down to the final game against Oriel to determine the league champions. After a hard battled game, we found ourselves on the losing side and ended a successful season finishing 2 by 1 point nd

The boys' attitudes, commitment and engagement have been second to none and we are excited for the next four years will these boys and the prospect of many successful seasons.

A great season for the Year 7 netballers Amazing to see so many students joining ICC and keen to get into the team, we’ve had a consistent squad of 15 students attend training and games for matches with only 7 players it has been hard ensuring everyone that is keen gets enough court time

Students have played hard and with a smile, have consistently represented ICC with good manners and excellent attitudes. We’ve not quite got all the wins we’ve wanted but we’ve had a good season of fun competitive netball and hopefully these students will join in with more teams and more netball next season. MUDRUN

Following the Christmas break, each student’s first PE lesson will feature our annual Mud Run an inclusive run/walk designed to reintroduce students to physical activity after the winter holidays.

During this session, students will learn:

How to run or walk safely in adverse weather conditions, with a focus on fitness. The psychological benefits associated with outdoor physical activity. The social value of exercising with peers; students will be encouraged to talk and connect during the run/walk.

This is not a competitive event. It is intended to be a fun, sociable experience suitable for all students. In most cases, even those recovering from illness or injury are able to participate by walking

Students will complete a short cross-country route (approximately 1 km), regardless of weather conditions.

Please ensure your child comes prepared with:

Warm layers

A waterproof jacket

A hat

Gloves

A plastic bag for any muddy items they may need to take home

We also advise against sending students in brand-new shoes
