Great business people, and great citizens, are shaped at Saint Rose
With our Theory in Action approach to learning, the Huether School of Business grounds students in foundational and experiential knowledge, preparing them to become conļ¬dent leaders at all levels of an organization. Complementing our expert classroom instruction are a variety of handson experiences, from group projects and simulations to career fairs and required internships. But really, just like any healthy business, the most important part of our school is the relationships. Students from diverse backgrounds learn to work together toward a greater purpose ā whether itās constructing a successful business plan or problem solving for clients ā preparing them for any ofļ¬ce environment.
Our strategy is to think about the future and then work backward. How can we help our students reach their fullest potential? Thatās why we offer 2-in-4 programs, making it possible for students to graduate in four years with a bachelorās degree and an MBA.
If youāre interested in business, thereās a home for you at Saint Rose. We hope to see you in one of our classrooms soon.
Dr. Raj Aroskar Dean, Huether School of Business
āOver the the almost three years I have been at Saint Rose, I have never stopped learning. The marketing program has been challenging, engaging, and fun. We do lots of team-related activities, like projects and simulations, to help us get ready for the job market. I have learned about the power of expressing myself concisely, how each word must captivate the client, and the importance of creating value. I believe these skills are paramount for anyone to succeed, regardless of what ļ¬eld youāre in.ā

āSaint Rose was the platform I needed to grow as an individual and led to opportunities I may not have received if I had gone elsewhere. I still have the notebooks I used in many of my courses, knowing that one day I will own my own business and will have the skills to take with me, wherever I go.ā

āI can show the leadership team that I have a general training in business and an understanding of how an organization is run, so I can be utilized as a partner when people come to me with issues or projects. Strategic Management, one of the MBA courses I took, helped me think outside the box and connect the dots.ā

DR. JOHN DION Associate Professor of Marketing
Professor John Dion teaches both undergraduate and graduate-level courses at the Huether School of Business and brings a wealth of industry knowledge to his classrooms. Dion helped develop the College's Flex MBA, which allows students to take classes via livestream, in person, or on their own time online, providing a convenient format. He was also instrumental in getting our 2-in-4 programs o the ground, helping students reach their academic goals faster. But thereās a lot more to Dion than his business acumen and innovative teaching methods. Here are ve things about Dion that make him such an excellent professor to learn from:
1. Dion worked in marketing and product development at the LEGO Group in Billund, Denmark, and Bose Corporation in Framingham, Massachusetts, before coming to Saint Rose. One of his greatest achievements while working at LEGO was developing LEGO Mindstorms ā the companyās ļ¬rst robotics product. "It became the best-selling product LEGO ever had, and the product line is still on the shelf 25 years later," he said.
2. Getting involved is important to Dion. He has participated in the College's service trips to Washington, D.C., where he and students support the homeless population by advocating for their rights to Congressional leaders and volunteering at soup kitchens. He's also traveled to Antigua, Guatemala, with Saint Rose students, building stoves for rural communities and helping out at an orphanage for HIV-positive children. "On both trips, we discussed that there is a difference between charity and justice, and we must work on both fronts," he said.
3. Dion is a globetrotter. He has traveled to 30 countries and lived in Denmark for two years. He said he doesn't have a favorite place he visited but instead has favorite experiences. "There are things that I love about each country and each city. However, visiting the temples in Kyoto, walking through Moscowās Red Square, sailing off the coast of Turkey, and off-roading in a Porsche SUV are a few of the things that stand out," Dion said.

Betty DiMaria: Q&A Huether School of Business coordinator of internships, professional development, and career advising
How do you help prepare students for an internship? I teach the Professional Development course (BUS/ACC 293), which is all about preparing students for internships. In that course, we work on resumes, cover letters, interviewing, networking, and career pathing. We also host speaker panels where students can hear from business professionals about their own career journeys and learn about different career options.
Why is completing an internship so important? Students who work an internship are better prepared to enter the business world.
