PRES/CEOMESSAGE Rick Pearce Thank you all for your renewal and new memberships to the chamber in 2025. We have a long history of supporting the business community since our founding in 1917.
We have a great deal to be proud of as we continue to bring workforce solutions to our members. As many of you well know, we spend the majority of our time supporting our Future Ready Task Force. This spring, we rolled out a new initiative called Candidate College. The program was designed for potential candidates to build a better understanding of political office as it applies to city council and school boards. Participants had the opportunity to talk with professionals who shared their experience and expertise. We collaborated with The Menard Family Center for Democracy at Miami University. They are tasked with increasing civic engagement among the citizenry and it seemed like the perfect fit for what we both wanted to accomplish. A huge thank you to John Forren and Maggie Simpson for working with me. To our members and employers in our service area, we make the following pledge… in everything we do, we believe in fostering a prosperous business environment that builds and supports a thriving community. 2025ACCOMPLISHMENTS Building Tomorrow's Workforce: A 12-Year Journey of Partnership and Impact Twelve years ago, we embarked on an ambitious mission: to solve the talent pipeline challenges threatening our regions’ employers. What began in 2014 as Manufacturing Day/Month—has evolved into a comprehensive workforce development model. By 2019, twenty plus (20+) of our member companies came together to define what they truly needed: the Future Ready Skill Set. This framework identified skills that high school graduates need to thrive in today's economy. We were no longer just offering exposure; we were reshaping education itself. The real breakthrough came when Middletown City School District brought to life our Future Ready Skill Set with Passport to Tomorrow, Their 6-year strategic vision gives every K-12 student a personalized career plan and hands-on experiences. Today, eighty-four (84) Chamber members actively deliver unique topics to over 6,000 students annually. The Workforce Institute represents our most innovative work yet: where educators tour and interview entry-level employees to understand real job requirements. This ensures students learn workplace competencies years before graduation, creating a qualified pipeline specifically aligned to member needs. As Chamber investors, your investment of time, expertise, and resources has built something extraordinary. The Middletown region now serves as a national model for educationbusiness collaboration, proving that when we unite around a shared vision, we don't just fill positions—we transform lives and secure our economic future.
