Fulfill “Fills” Another Community Need
Jim Kroeze, Fulfill’s Chief Operating Officer came to us back in October with a need for a work van. Due to COVID on the rise, that need quickly turned into two. It just so happens that our friend Jim Sigurdson over at Meals on Wheels of Ocean County was donating two of his used vans to us! Over the past year, Jim Sigurdson has already donated three pre-owned work vehicles to Causeway. The two vans now make for a total of five vehicles donated to us from Meals on Wheels! We are happy to have found the perfect home for the two vans over at Fulfill, where they will be put to good use! Before we donate the vans to Fulfill, we have them inspected in our Ford Service Department. Service checks for safety and mechanical issues and repairs or replaces needed items. Thank you again, Jim Sigurdson! With food insecurity soaring at the Jersey Shore since the onset of the pandemic, Fulfill FoodBank has made it a priority to ensure all people in need are identified and fed. To help reach the people who have fallen through the cracks during this unprecedented time, Fulfill has expanded its partnerships in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Specifically, hospital employees, new and expectant
mothers, and patients with severe COVID-19 cases, cancer, and other long-term illnesses who are struggling, are being provided much needed food by Fulfill seven days a week.
Who is Fulfill? The Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties is now Fulfill. They changed their name, because they’re doing more than ever to change lives in our communities for the better. Their new name reflects the fact that today they focus on more than food distribution. It reflects their commitment to fulfill more of the needs of our neighbors and win the battle against hunger. It reflects their comprehensive approach that goes beyond providing food and helps those in need get to a place where they can get back on their feet for good.
Since the Hospital Partnership Program started in November, Fulfill has provided food to approximately 60 families in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Many of these families have also received assistance signing up for SNAP (food stamps), affordable housing, and health insurance from Fulfill’s Resource Connections Team with the goal of getting families back on their feet. In just this short time, Fulfill has served more than 6,000 meals to our neighbors in need identified through this program.

Fulfill’s mission is to alleviate hunger and build food security in Monmouth & Ocean Counties and to make sure that all people at all times have access to enough nutritious food to maintain an active and healthy life. Fulfill has a network of 289 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day programs, group homes, and more that we work closely with to feed our neighbors in need. the coronavirus crisis affected the Jersey Shore. Donations to Fulfill from the Wintrode Family Foundation and the Causeway Family of Dealerships, which includes two retrofitted trucks to be used to transport meals, have helped us meet the growing demand, which Feeding America estimates will climb to a 56 percent increase within the coming months.

MERIDIAN HEALTH WELCOMES RADIATION ONCOLOGIST WITH FELLOWSHIP TRAINING IN PROTON THERAPY Radiation oncologist Nicholas DeNunzio, M.D., Ph.D., has joined Hackensack Meridian Health. Dr. DeNunzio has deep expertise and training in the use of standard radiation therapies, including proton therapy, which allows for the safe and precise delivery of higher doses of radiation therapy while reducing radiation exposure to surrounding tissues.
Dr. DeNunzio received his medical and doctorate degrees from the Boston University School of Medicine in 2014. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital in 2019. In 2020, he completed a clinical fellowship in pediatric proton therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard University) prior to joining the cancer care team at Hackensack Meridian Health. Hackensack Meridian Health offers proton therapy through a clinical affiliation with ProCure Proton Therapy Center in Somerset, New Jersey. The lower toxicity and highly targeted delivery of proton therapy make it ideal for treating tumors located near critical organs or structures such as the brain, heart or spinal cord. It is also used to treat children with cancer who

COVID-19 EVICTION MORATORIUM UPDATE FOR TENANTS
With the new year, there have been updates and changes to the federal and New Jersey state eviction moratoriums. These changes have been implemented to help keep people safe, afloat, and in their homes during COVID-19. The below information applies to tenants of rental homes, rental apartments, hotels, and/or motels.
Order 106, the eviction moratorium will last until two months after the governor declares an end to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Currently, the public health emergency is set to expire January 20, 2021, which means that the eviction moratorium in New Jersey will remain in place until at least March 20, 2021.
What is an Eviction Moratorium?
What if I Live in a Hotel/Motel?
According to New Jersey’s COVID-19 information hub, an eviction moratorium means that no tenant may be removed from his or her home as a result of an eviction proceeding, with rare exceptions. This doesn’t stop any court proceedings on an eviction, but prevents lockouts and removals. The moratorium does apply to all pre-existing orders for removal as well, meaning that so long as it is in place, you cannot be removed from your home.
The eviction moratorium does not specifically protect “transient guests or seasonal tenants.” Long term hotel and motel residents are not considered transient and are protected under Governor Murphy’s Order. Additionally, under Administrative orders issued from the State Director of Emergency Management, the following hotel and motel residents are generally protected from eviction:

Federal Eviction Moratorium The Centers for Disease Control continues to have a federal eviction moratorium in place through January 31st, 2021. This applies to all states and local areas, unless they have equal or better protections for tenants. New Jersey Eviction Moratorium New Jersey also has a specific order that applies to the eviction moratorium. According to Governor Murphy’s Executive

MERIDIAN VACCINATES MORE THAN 12,000 FRONTLINE WORKERS Hackensack Meridian Health, the largest and most integrated health network in New Jersey, has administered COVID-19 vaccinations to more than 12,000 frontline team members and physicians and is now opening scheduling to additional team members and physicians. The move is designed to increase voluntary participation and ensure that the maximum number of team members are vaccinated as quickly as possible. To instill confidence and ease concerns about getting vaccinated, Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, CEO, Hackensack Meridian Health, received his first dose of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine at Hackensack Meridian Palisades Medical Center. Mr. Garrett later met with Hernan Lopez, a Patient Escort who was one of the first team members to receive the vaccine over two weeks ago and is encouraging other team members and his
local community to do the same as soon as it is available. “I’m proud of Hernan and our more than 12,000 frontline team members that have stepped up and volunteered to get vaccinated, but we still have more work to do here, throughout New Jersey and across the country,” said Robert C. EASY VALENTINE SANDWICH COOKIES
Ingredients: 1 cup butter 1 ½ cups confectioners' sugar

1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ½ teaspoon almond extract (Optional)
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Step 1: In a large bowl, cream together butter and confectioners' sugar. Beat in egg, vanilla and almond extract. Mix well. Step 2: In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and cream of tartar; blend into the butter mixture. Divide dough into thirds and shape into balls. Step 3: Working with 1/3 of dough at a time, roll out dough into desired thickness on a lightly floured surface. For each heart sandwich cookie, cut out 2 3-inch hearts. Cut out the center of ONE of the 3-inch hearts with the 1 1/2-inch cutter. Step 4: Place each piece separately on an ungreased cookie sheet, 1 - 2 inches apart. Bake in a preheated, 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven until lightly browned (7-8 minutes for 1/4 inch thick cookies). Cool completely on wire rack. Frost bottom cookie with Pink Valentine Frosting and place an open centered cookie on top to form the sandwich. Also frost the small 1 1/2 inch hearts and serve as separate cookies.

ELKS LODGE HELPS CHRISTMAS DREAMS COME TRUE
Manahawkin Elks recently sent Christmas stockings to 30 personnel who would not be going home for the holidays that are stationed at the 13th Space Warning Squadron at Clear Air Force Station in Alaska. 26 people volunteered to create the stockings. They shopped and packed the stockings with hand warmers, socks, neck gaters, puzzle books, candy, nuts, cookies, personal care items, like Chapstick, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other items. Some decorated the stockings! Pictured are the recipients and the stockings that were sent.

EASY OREO TRUFFLES
Ingredients: 1 (16 ounce) package OREO Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, divided 1 (8 ounce) package PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened 2 (8 ounce) packages BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted Step 1: Crush 9 of the cookies to fine crumbs in food processor; reserve for later use. (Cookies can also be finely crushed in a resealable plastic bag using a rolling pin.) Crush remaining 36 cookies to fine crumbs; place in medium bowl. Add cream cheese; mix until well blended. Roll cookie mixture into 42 balls, about 1-inch in diameter. Step 2: Dip balls in chocolate; place on wax papercovered baking sheet. (Any leftover chocolate can be stored at room temperature for another use.) Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs. Step 3: Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour. Store leftover truffles, covered, in refrigerator.

2021 NISSAN ALTIMA AND SENTRA EARN SAFETY AWARDS FROM IIHS NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently awarded the 2021 Nissan Altima with its 2020 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating, and the 2021 Nissan Sentra a 2020 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) rating, thanks to advances in each model’s headlight technology. According to IIHS, approximately half of all fatal crashes in the U.S. occur in the dark, and more than one-quarter on unlit roads. For this reason, IIHS places a strong emphasis on headlight capability when evaluating vehicles. Like the all-new 2020 Versa and Sentra, as well as the flagship Maxima, Altima brings an exceptional level of advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology to its segment – including available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, ProPILOT Assist and Nissan Safety Shield 360 technologies. With High Beam Assist as standard equipment, Altima earns the TSP+ distinction. Altima has earned the IIHS TSP or TSP+ award each year since 2013. In September, Nissan made additional improvements to the optional thin projector LED headlights offered on the Nissan Sentra SV trim with Premium Package (model year 2020) and SR trim with Premium Package (model years 2020 and 2021). PANDEMIC RELIEF FUND RAISES $64M FOR RESIDENTS IN NEED Courtesy of wobm.com As the pandemic continues, so too does the effort to help those Garden State residents who find themselves struggling the most. First lady Tammy Murphy, who launched the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund when the health emergency first began in the spring, says the fund has collected almost $64 million through nearly 62,000 donors. She said while some donations are from corporations, foundations and wealthy celebrities, most of the money raised, almost 60%, is from average Garden State residents.
