Celestine Nyabayo of All Saints in Lakeville joins other Kenyan women in a celebration at St. Alphonsus in Brooklyn Center Aug. 9 following a Mass of commissioning for 38 laywomen who are members of the Catholic Women Association in Kenya. The CWA is “an organization of Catholic laywomen founded in 1980 during Pope (St.) John Paul II’s visit to Kenya,” according to the organization’s website. A group of 38 local women were commissioned during the Mass by Bishop Henry Juma Odonya of the Diocese of Kitale in Kenya.
