Petition to Exempt Social Care from NIC Increase Gathers Pace... With Over 18,000 Signatures to Date
Over 18,000 social care providers and the wider sector workforce have signed a petition calling for the Chancellor to reconsider the employer National Insurance Contribution (NIC) increase announced in the recent Budget. Exempt all social care providers from the employer NIC increase warns the Chancellor that the added NIC expenses would force providers to make difficult
choices, leading to wage freezes, cuts in services, even closures. As of April 2025, employer National Insurance contributions will increase from 13.8% to 15%, with the per-employee threshold at which employers start to pay National Insurance reduced from £9,100 to £5,000 per year.
