Rights to Care Visits to Be Enshrined in Law The right to have visitors while a resident in a care home or a patient in hospital is to be enshrined in law. The government has announced proposals to make visiting a legal requirement for hospitals, care homes, mental health units and other health and care settings. It comes following concerns that s care environments and hospitals are care

homes are still not allowing visitors after restrictions were placed during the pandemic. As a result, the government is seeking views from patients, care home residents, their families, professionals and providers on the introduction of secondary legislation on visiting restrictions.
