Government Sets Out Next Steps to Support Social Care… ... but cut in workforce funding brings sector backlash
The government has published an update to its 2021 Social Care White Paper, The Next Steps to Put People at the Heart of Care. The proposals contain new announcements on the adult social care reform programme, including greater use of technology and digitisation. However, funding to support workforce reforms, including training, has been reduced from £500m to £250m.
The update, the government says, builds on commitments outlined in the People at the Heart of Care white paper, published in December 2021, to support career progression in the sector and make sure those who receive care get it in the right place at the right time.
