Act Now to Prevent “Widespread Catastrophe” Government Urged
Care England has written to MPs requesting immediate and targeted support to prevent a “widespread catastrophe” in social care due to soaring energy bills, as providers face a "staggering" 683 per cent increase in energy costs over the last 12 months. On Friday (August 27) Ofgem announced the energy price cap for consumers
will rise to £3,549 a year – a rise of 80 per cent. Latest estimates suggest it will reach £6,616 in April. With company tariffs uncapped, some businesses have already seen a price increase of more than 350 per cent.
