Ministers Pause Local Government Reorganisation… And Restores Representation on ICBs

The Government has announced a review of its plans to reorganise local government in England, while also restoring the statutory role of councils on Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) — two developments with potentially significant implications for the future delivery of health and social care. The decisions follow updated legal advice and a wider assessment of how local government reform fits with the Government’s ambitions to devolve power

and reshape public services. Announcing the review in Parliament, Housing, Communities and Local Government Secretary Angela Rayner said the Government wanted to ensure that the reorganisation process was legally robust and aligned with the priorities of the new administration.
