"Slim Pickings" for Adult Social Care in the King's Speech, Sector Leaders Warn The adult social care sector has greeted the recent King's Speech with cautious optimism tempered by deep concern, as the government unveiled a sweeping legislative agenda carrying significant implications for care providers, unpaid carers and the people who depend on care and support services across England. Headline billing went to the NHS Modernisation Bill — described by ministers as the most substantial reorganisation of the National Health Service in over a
decade. The flagship legislation, which gives statutory effect to the reforms set out in the NHS 10-Year Health Plan, is intended to simplify the NHS's national architecture, cut bureaucracy and improve patient outcomes, with a strong emphasis on harnessing digital technology and data sharing.
