“Rebuild with Clear Remit” CQC Urged As Government Accepts Report Findings
Dr Penny Dash’s independent review of patient safety across the health and care landscape has been published. The review calls for a national strategy for quality in adult social care, underpinned by clear evidence. Dr Dash highlights long-standing concerns about the lack of consistency in how care is assessed, the absence of clear outcome metrics in social care, and a
missed opportunity to embed innovation and best practice across the system. This review was commissioned by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, following a review into the operational effectiveness of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in summer 2024.
