The top four things business travelers want
Business travel remains strong, with the GBTA forecasting spending will reach $1 69 trillion in 2026, an 8 1% increase over 2025 Yet despite these healthy numbers, travellers still encounter avoidable friction on the road Amadeus's Friction Removed research, which surveyed more than 1,000 travellers, found that business travellers report higher stress levels than their leisure counterparts, costing them time, productivity and peace of mind Four pain points stand out in particular
The biggest is finding suitable accommodation, which 45% of business travellers find distressing compared with 33% of leisure travellers, largely because they must balance location, company policy, availability, amenities and loyalty preferences under tight and frequently shifting schedules Comparing prices ranks next, with 44% calling it very or somewhat distressing versus 39% of leisure travellers, as checking multiple sites while reconciling policy and cost complicates what should be a simple booking. Understanding total cost, fees and taxes troubles 42% of business travellers compared with 36% of leisure travellers, since hidden charges and inconsistent pricing obscure the true trip total. Finally, around 44% rank airport transit, including taxis, ride-hailing and car hire, among the most stressful parts of a trip, showing that friction extends well beyond the booking stage.
The article positions Amadeus Cytric as the solution, offering multi-source content with side-by-side comparison, AI-powered and policy-aware recommendations, booking directly within Microsoft Teams, a generative-AI assistant that suggests hotels, and transit features such as Share My Transfer Reducing end-to-end friction, it concludes, lowers stress and makes trips more productive Read the article here

TOP EVENT TRENDS YOU SHOULD KNOW IN 2026
Events in 2026 will be defined by intentionality. AI is becoming operational, trust is harder to earn, and outcomes matter more than ever. At the same time, audiences are more selective, choosing experiences that feel intentional, relevant, and worth their time.
So how can you navigate these shifts?
Cvent’s 2026 trends report is packed with insights into the big trends shaping 2026. Key among them are:
• AI has moved from experimentation to expectation. In 2026, the focus is on practical use cases, clear outcomes, and proving the value of AI across event lifecycles
• Trust is the differentiator In an AI-saturated, low-trust digital world, events stand out as one of the most effective ways to build credibility, human connection, and long-term loyalty
• Relevance is driving engagement Personalization is becoming attendee-led, while exclusivity and micro events are shaping experiences that feel intentional, meaningful, and built around peer-to-peer connection
• Proof matters more than ever As digital attribution becomes harder, events are emerging as a critical source of first-party data and a foundation for measurable growth
2026 is the year of delivering meetings and events with purpose For more analysis, download our guide

Another Platform. Another Channel. Another Dashboard. Sound Familiar?
As Travel Tech Show approaches, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: traveller expectations are continuing to rise Customers expect faster, more personalised responses, and on their preferred channels The challenge for many TMCs is that meeting those expectations has meant adding more technology Before long, what started as innovation begins to resemble a Frankenstein technology stack of disconnected systems, fragmented data and duplicated effort
The answer isn't simply more technology And it certainly isn't replacing people with AI Because travel has always been, and will remain, a people business
The most successful TMCs aren't looking for technology that replaces human expertise They're looking for technology that empowers it - removing friction, connecting information, and helping consultants spend less time searching for answers and more time delivering value At Lokulus, that's exactly the problem we're solving: designing how work flows through a TMC operation so consultants focus on what requires human judgement, not manual triage
As communication channels continue to grow, it can often feel like you need to be everywhere, all at once, for everyone To remain competitive, perhaps you do But it’s how you get there that matters the most A busy fool is still a fool The right technology doesn't add complexity It removes it
If you're attending Travel Tech Show on 24–25 June, visit us at Stand N60 to see how leading TMCs are connecting systems, simplifying operations and giving their teams the tools they need to deliver exceptional traveller experiences Visit the Lokulus website for further details

Without ever compromising comfort, through water-efficient taps and showers now installed in 65% of our hotels, we ’ ve reduced water use per guest stay by 18% in the last six years, with a target of 20% by 2030 Alongside this, we ’ re tackling resource use across our operations fighting, food waste to help the planet and already over halfway to our goal to halve our food waste by 2030 with a reduction of 39 5% as of 2025/26 Together with our guests, partners, and clients, we ’ re creating a more sustainable future for hospitality, delivering trusted stays that are better for people and the planet

How Agentic AI Can Transform Business Travel Without Compromising Trust
Agentic AI is moving rapidly from experimentation to real-world deployment across the travel sector.
For business travel in particular, this shift creates an opportunity to improve decision-making, and automate complex workflows, but only if trust, governance, and control are designed in from the outset.
Sabre’s research paper The Secure AI Advantage makes a case that the next phase of AI adoption in travel will depend on governance. As AI systems become increasingly autonomous, enterprises need confidence in how decisions are made, which data is used, and how actions can be monitored, traced, and audited. For managed travel programs, this is essential to ensuring compliance, duty of care, cost control, and policy alignment
Sabre’s approach is built around these principles, combining AI native platforms with guardrails across identity, permissions, observability, and human oversight This enables organisations to move from AI assisted experiences to managed autonomy without losing accountability, a critical requirement for business travel buyers
Mindtrip’s launch of a conversation led flight booking experience, powered by Sabre technology and integrated with trusted payments, shows how agentic AI can move from intent to transaction As Garry Wiseman, President of Product & Engineering at Sabre, noted: “For the first time, we ’ ve truly bridged the gap between inspiration and purchase moving agentic AI out of the lab and onto the ledger”
For corporate travel, agentic AI is already moving into production Its impact will depend on governance, operational control, and execution discipline

Cognizant and Anthropic collaborate to power travel technology for the AI era
Travelport, Cognizant and Anthropic are building an AI travel ecosystem to modernize how travel technology is built, tested and maintained Together they are closing the critical gap in AI-driven travel: connecting systems that can reason and plan with platforms that can actually transact
For travel agencies and travel management companies (TMC), Travelport's platform will absorb more of the cognitive work agents currently do manually, including surfacing relevant options faster, automating exchanges and rebooking, and embedding disruption intelligence into workflows For example, an agent managing a business traveler could surface routes with statistically lower disruption risk Travelport's customers indicate that saving even one hour per agent per day across a large TMC translates into millions of dollars in annual productivity improvement
Anthropic brings the most capable AI models and tools; Cognizant adds engineering talent and development capability to deploy them at scale; and Travelport brings the travel infrastructure and the partner network that connects it all to the real world of distribution and bookings.

For many TMCs and corporates, hotel booking itself is no longer the biggest challenge The real complexity often begins after the reservation has been made
Payment, billing and invoice reconciliation remain among the biggest operational challenges in hotel programme management. As hotel programmes become increasingly global and multi source, finance and travel teams are facing growing complexity around payment processes, VAT compliant invoicing and reconciliation across multiple booking sources and markets.
Fragmented processes can create unnecessary administration, reduce transparency and increase the risk of errors. Whilst payment solutions play an important role within the business travel ecosystem, organisations increasingly require a broader approach that connects payment, billing and reconciliation in a seamless and compliant workflow
This is where ehotel® creates value Through centralised payment processes, ehotel® Central Billing and automated invoice reconciliation, companies and TMCs can simplify hotel programme management, improve financial transparency and reduce manual effort across multiple markets
As global travel programmes continue to grow in complexity, the focus is shifting from simply booking hotels to creating efficient end to end financial processes Bringing payment, billing and reconciliation together in one transparent and scalable process helps organisations transform hotel programme management from a booking activity into a controlled financial workflow

June is here, which means The Business Travel Show. The same as last year, we will be supporting The BTA and have taken a stand within The BTA’s main stand We hope to see as many of you there as possible to update you on all developments at Evolvi
One exciting development is that Evolvi has been named as one of the finalists at The Business Travel Awards Europe 2026 in the category of ‘Business Travel Partner of The Year – Ground Transportation Platform’
This is the first time we have entered the awards, so are absolutely thrilled to have made it through to the finals This is true recognition of the work done over the last year and regardless of outcome, we cannot wait to celebrate with our customers and industry colleagues on 30 September
We are pleased that The BTA and Rail Delivery Group have reached an agreement to postpone the implementation of the new refund rules until September
Prior to this, we had already made some enhancements to Evolvi’s automated refund process, making it as seamless as possible for TMCs to manage refunds within the new rules We will now deploy the new functionality in August but will not enable it until 07 September when the new rules will apply
Additionally, our team are now working on a new ticket fulfilment method meaning that TMCs and their corporate clients will have a choice as to how their eTickets are delivered – more information about this will be coming soon!
Evolvi named as a finalist at The BT Awards

FCG BUSINESS TRAVEL ASSOCIATION 2026 China content, One connection
Why the world’s deepest hotel content has always been the prize and what changes when it sits in your stack like any other line of supply
China’s hotel content is the deepest on earth, and for years it was the hardest to reach That changes now Fusion Connect Group is opening access to 700,000+ Chinese hotel properties through a single API connection with cross-border settlement that reconciles the way the rest of your stack expects
One integration in place of many One reconciliation, not three The content and the money behind it, finally on the same page behaving like any other line of supply
It was never a content problem The properties were always there; demand never wavered Reaching China at scale simply asked more of the machinery than most platforms were built to give multiple integrations where there could be one, content that didn’t always map, and settlement that didn’t travel cleanly across borders, leaving finance teams to reconcile what the booking had already promised
The team behind it has spent years on exactly this kind of problem mapping, reconciliation, and settlement logic that makes one market behave like another. It’s already in production, already moving real bookings for TMCs and corporate travel teams today.
The best infrastructure goes unmentioned. The best content speaks for itself. What we built sits quietly between the two.
24–25 June 2026 ExCeL London

Are business travel “extras” actually essentials?
In business travel, the word “extras” has long implied something optional Nice to have, perhaps even indulgent But for corporate travellers, products like airport parking, lounges, fast track and transfers are rarely about luxury They are about reducing friction, protecting time and helping travellers arrive ready to perform
New research among UK business travellers shows how much the wider journey matters When asked which part of travelling for work they find most stressful, getting to the airport ranked highest, followed by going through security and waiting for the flight The pressure points often sit outside the main elements of the trip
More than three quarters say a stressful airport experience affects their performance or energy levels for the work they are travelling for And while many travellers use airport time to work, prepare or decompress, that is harder when the experience feels rushed, noisy or uncertain
This is where the parts of the journey often treated as secondary, start to play a more strategic role. Take lounges - comfort is clearly part of their appeal, but their value goes beyond that, with 61% saying they might book one to work in a quieter space.
Most tellingly, 70% said services such as airport parking, lounges, fast track, airport hotels and pre-booked transfers make a significant difference to the quality of their trip.
Perhaps it is time to stop calling them extras For a traveller expected to arrive on time, prepared and able to perform, they are journey essentials
