WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU AROUND THE CLUB!
from the
PRESIDENT
Dear Members,
CHRIS DAHAN
2026 PRESIDENT BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Happy fall! As this is my last quarterly letter, I’d like to highlight a few important changes and initiatives at the Club this year and beyond. But first - a few quick but very sincere thank you’s - to Daniel Moreno, Kim McClaine, Skyler Gentry, Club Department Heads, and our dedicated staff, for their exemplary (and often times creative) work on behalf of our Club and Membership throughout the year. To put it mildly, this was not an easy year and the entire Briar Club team made superhuman efforts to ensure the Club experience carried on with as little disruption as possible. I’m sure we can all think of many witnessed examples where this was the case, and for each of those, there are undoubtedly many more unwitnessed, so on behalf of Club Membership, I extend a deep note of gratitude to the entire team. Thanks also to my fellow intrepid Board Members this year, as well as those who generously served on the various Club committees - no doubt, these Members contributed more this year than they expected, and for that we’re grateful as well. While the cranes and construction crews may obscure this a bit, I’m pleased to report that the Club is in as strong a position as ever to end the year. Financially, even with the damage and disruption to the Parking Garage, Club actuals beat our budgeted targets. Club engagement from Membership and demand from potential members continues to remain robust. Safety and security has also improved markedly - the new Parking Garage will feature roll-down doors that better secure the premises overnight; upgrades and additions to our existing security camera system will make monitoring throughout the Club even more effective; and an off-duty HPD officer will now be stationed at the Club during all normal business hours. To complement these improvements, we continue to ask for Member commitment to ensuring safe, respectful behavior and responsible oversight for family members and guests at the Club. Lastly, Club facilities are well-positioned with the on-going and planned improvements. The Fitness Locker Room remodel will begin shortly, and in addition to covering needed maintenance items, will reflect dramatic design and amenity upgrades when completed next May. As has been communicated elsewhere, the latest version of the 2026 Campus Plan similarly focuses on impactful changes that target meaningful, long-term improvements for the Membership experience - frankly, it addresses items that cannot be afforded to be punted into the future any longer. If you have questions about this Plan, I encourage you to learn more in the coming weeks and ask for your voting support in November. I’ll end with a brief expression of gratitude for the year - that nothing was broken which couldn’t be repaired, and for the difficult moments where the Club came together and showed its resiliency. To go along with those difficult moments, there were many more, for me as President, filled with pride for our team and Membership. So thank you and here’s to a continued bright and fun future at The Briar Club! Cheers!
Sincerely,
CHRIS DAHAN 5 | OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2026

HYROX AT THE CLUB WHAT IS IT?
A HYROX workout combines 8 kilometers of running with 8 functional workout stations, alternating between a 1 km run and one exercise station.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Improved Aerobic Capacity: Alternating running with endurance machines like the SkiErg and rower enhances your VO₂ max and overall heart health. Full-Body Functional Strength: Movements like sled pushes, farmers carries, and wall balls target neglected muscle groups, building functional strength and muscle mass. Greater Work Capacity Under Fatigue: Training your body to run intervals on tired legs teaches you how to maintain pace and recover efficiently when exhausted. Enhanced Fat Loss and Metabolism: The high-intensity hybrid format burns significant calories during the workout and keeps your metabolism elevated afterward through excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). Better Posture and Injury Prevention: Strengthening your core and stabilizers helps correct muscle imbalances from single-sport training like regular running or cycling. Stronger Mental Resilience: Pushing through alternating blocks of cardio and resistance builds the mental grit needed to overcome fatigue. Accessible and Measurable Community: Because the race format is standardized globally, it is easy to track personal progress and train alongside a motivating community.

SEASONAL serves
PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE Yield: 9” Round Cheesecake for 12 servings Ingredients Crust: 2 cups graham cracker crumbs ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted ¼ cup granulated sugar ½ tsp ground cinnamon
Filling: 3 (8-ounce/226g) blocks cream cheese room temperature 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar 4 ½ tsp vanilla extract 4 eggs, room temperature 3 ½ cups pumpkin puree ¼ tsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp ground nutmeg ¾ tsp ground cloves Instructions Make the crust: 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Wrap the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan in a layer of heavy-duty wide foil, and bring the foil up the sides of the pan to just under the top edge. Press firmly to create a tight fit. 2. In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs with sugar and cinnamon until combined. Pour in the melted butter, and mix until well combined and the mixture feels like wet sand. 3. Transfer the mixture to your springform pan and press the crumbs into a flat layer on the bottom and about 2 inches up the sides of the pan using the bottom of a measuring cup or glass. 4. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until fragrant and golden color on the edges. Set aside to cool while making the filling. Make the filling: 1. Reduce the oven temperature to 300°F. 2. In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese at medium speed until smooth, about 1 minute. Add sugar and mix on medium until creamy, about 1 minute. Scrape down the bowl. 3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing between each addition and allowing each to incorporate before adding the next. Stop and scrape the bowl down as needed. 4. Once the eggs are incorporated, add the pumpkin puree, spices, and vanilla. Mix on low speed just until incorporated. Scrape down the bowl and mix one last time. Pour the batter into the baked crust. 5. Place the pan into a large roasting pan and place it in the oven. Carefully fill the pan with enough boiling water to come about 1 inch up the side of the springform pan. 6. Bake for about 1 hour or until edges are set but the center wobbles slightly with gently shaken. Turn the oven off and leave the door closed. Allow the cake to cool for 1 hour in the oven without opening the door. Remove the roasting pan from the oven. Remove the cheesecake from the water bath and cool to room temperature on a wire rack. Cover with a towel or paper towel and chill overnight or for at least 6 hours. 7. Run a knife around the edge of the chilled cake before releasing the spring and removing the sides of the pan. 8. To cut clean slices: Cut chilled cheesecake with a knife dipped in hot water and dried off with a towel. Wipe knife clean in between cuts. 9. Enjoy cheesecake with dollops of whipped cream and fresh berries or plain!

Staff Spotlight: FRIENDLY FIRST IMPRESSIONS
From front door to phone calls, our Reception Team is here to help! We asked our Receptionists “What makes The Briar Club special?” Read what they said below!
DENISE MANCINAS Lead Receptionist “For me, it’s the little moments. I love that our Members place such a strong value on kindness and good manners. There’s something special about seeing a familiar, smiling face walk through the door and being able to greet them by name. I make an effort to learn and remember our Members’ names because I think those small gestures can make someone’s day; and it’s always rewarding when they recognize that effort in return. Over time, those little interactions create something bigger: a genuine sense of connection and community. It’s an honor to be one of the first faces our Members see when they arrive and to have the opportunity to welcome and cater to such a wonderful group of families. I think that everyday connection is what makes The Briar Club so special.”
BELLE PEREZ
RACHEL JENSEN
“I think what makes The Briar Club special is how everyone seems to know each other. It feels like a big family, and I really like that the Members and employees have such good relationships.
“The members of the Club are some of the kindest and most polite people I have ever interacted with at a job.
Everyone gets along, and I think that’s what makes working here so nice. ”
It truly shows the kind of people the current Members are and what the Membership committee values when recommending new Members. The Members are what make this job and the Club so special, and this is truly the best job I’ve ever had.”
