Fellow members, On behalf of the Committee, Management and staff of the Club, I would like to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas filled with love, peace, joy, happiness, and of course, great health. Please remember those who are less fortunate than yourself, those who are unable to move around, those who have no family to spend time with, those who are having challenges with health or other issues. If you know of any such people, give them your support. A simple visit can brighten the day of someone who is shut in. A small gift can provide a start, or a simple meal, to someone in need. A caring word can offer hope to those with challenges. Let us exhibit the kindness, care and compassion associated with the season, even if you don’t celebrate Christmas. It can make a significant difference to at least one person. As we close the year, I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a healthy, happy, peaceful and successful 2026. May your dreams come true and your aspirations be realised.

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE COMMODORE A happy and healthy New year to all of our members! A special thank you to all members who have contributed to the club in 2025 through the use of its facilities and continue to meet their financial obligations to the club on a timely basis. Unfortunately, we have noticed that some members are tardy in settling their member accounts. We therefore take this opportunity to remind members to settle their accounts before the end of the month following that in which the charges on their account were incurred. e.g all charges recorded in December 2025 are due for payment before end of January 2026. The Committee of Management reminds members of the rule # 14 SUBSCRIPTION AND FEES as stated in the rules of the Barbados Yacht Club that relates to the settlement of amounts owed to the Club. FOOD & BEVERAGE As we sail toward the close of another year at the Club, I would like to take a moment, on behalf of the Food and Beverage Committee, to share a quick update and to extend warm seasonal wishes to our members. December is always a time for reflection, and it feels fitting to pause, look astern at the year just gone, and share where we are heading as we set our course for the months ahead. Over the past several months, the Committee has been working steadily behind the scenes to review our food and beverage offering, with a clear focus on improving the overall experience for members and their guests. This has involved listening carefully to the feedback we received both formally and in everyday conversations around the Club, as well as taking a closer look at how our kitchens and service teams operate during daily service and peak periods. We have also spent time reviewing menu structure, pricing, and workflow, all with the aim of creating a more consistent, dependable, and enjoyable dining experience across the board. I am pleased to share that we are now in the final stages of pricing the new menu, which we look forward to rolling out shortly. A great deal of care has gone into finding the right balance between quality, variety, and value, while keeping the menu approachable and familiar. The revised selection focuses on fresh new choices, beloved favourites, and more streamlined preparation. These adjustments are not only about what appears on the plate, but also about how efficiently and consistently each dish can be delivered, helping to ensure quicker service times and a smoother experience, particularly during busy lunches, evenings, and event days. Alongside the menu refresh, improving service efficiency remains a key priority for the Committee. Reliable, timely service is essential to a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere at the Club, whether you are stopping by for a casual drink, a light meal, or gathering with friends and family. By simplifying certain elements of service, improving communication between front-of-house

and kitchen teams, and aligning workflows more closely, we believe members will begin to feel a noticeable difference once the new menu is launched and settles in. At the same time, we are very mindful that meaningful change takes time. There are still areas that need attention, and it is important to acknowledge this openly. The Food and Beverage Committee and team continue to work through operational challenges by refining internal protocols, strengthening oversight, and carefully sourcing the right options to support consistency and accountability across the department. In parallel, we are reviewing and updating our systems to better support our teams, improve reporting, and create clearer lines of responsibility. While progress is being made, this is very much an ongoing journey, and we want members to be assured that we are working steadily and thoughtfully, with the longterm goal of delivering a service standard the Club can be proud of. These improvements are not the result of one sweeping change, but rather a series of small, considered adjustments — much like trimming the sails, checking the charts, and making steady corrections along the way. We are grateful to the management team and staff for their continued cooperation, patience, and practical input throughout this process, as their firsthand experience has been invaluable in helping us navigate these changes and keep the ship moving in the right direction. As the festive season closes out, I would also like to thank our members sincerely for their patience, understanding, and constructive feedback throughout the year. Your engagement, suggestions, and support play an important role in helping us identify where improvements are needed and in shaping the course ahead. On behalf of the Food and Beverage Sub-Committee and the Main Committee, I hope you and your families enjoy a very happy Christmas, filled with good food, good company, and a little well-earned rest. We look forward to welcoming you around the Club over the holiday period and into the new year, and we extend our very best wishes for fair winds, calm seas, and a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2026.
ENTERTAINMENT NEWS Happy New Year! As we begin 2026, the Entertainment Committee wants to thank you for your continued engagement, feedback, and honesty. We know how much the Barbados Yacht Club means to its members, and we share your desire to see the Club thrive and meet the high standards we all expect. Looking ahead, we are planning a full year of events that blends familiar favourites with fresh ideas shaped directly by member feedback. Our goal is simple: to improve quality, consistency, and the overall member experience, and to make the Barbados Yacht Club a place where members genuinely want to spend their time. In the coming months, we are working toward events such as Lectures and Lunches, Wine Tastings, Movie Nights, Sunday Buffets, and strong family events including Kids Club, Easter Egg Hunts, and End of Term Parties. Seasonal highlights like Six Nations Rugby & World Cup viewings, Crop Over, Halloween, Christmas, and our regular Last Friday and Quiz Nights will continue to be refined and improved. Planning is already underway for 2026 Old Years Night. January kicks off with Quiz Night on 16th January, a Bajan Buffet and lecture with Sir Henry Fraser on 23rd January, and Alan Shepherd on Last Friday, 30th January. We know that some past events have not met the standard expected, and we have heard that feedback loud and clear. The Committee is actively reviewing how events are planned, delivered, and communicated, and we are committed to making the improvements needed to ensure a better experience for all members.
