Fellow members,
Six weeks have passed since we implemented the new Omni Wizard point of sale system in our Food and Beverage department. We are making good progress, having completed phase 1 of the project. The Inventory module will be the second phase of the implementation, and we will be starting that implementation in September. This month you would have received two members’ statements, one from the old Jonas system for food and beverage charges for the period 1st to 14th July and all other miscellaneous charges for the entire month of July. The other statement represents the food and beverage charges made in the new Omni Wizard system form the period 15th to 31st July. We apologize for the delay in completing the Omni Wizard statement and ask that on receipt of your statements you make the necessary payment to settle the balances owed on both statements. In August, the Food and Beverage charges will be shown on the Omni’s System and the other member charges, including subscriptions, will be handled on the Jonas system, so you will receive two statements for August as well. We expect to have the two accounts merged during September and should return to issuing one statement for all member charges at that time, We will be having our Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on 8th September to elect a new Commodore to fill the casual vacancy on the resignation of our previous Commodore, Mr. Peter Thompson. Nominations for the Commodore’s position closed at 5 p.m. on 31st August. In addition, at that EGM, there will be a presentation of our Strategic Plan for 2026-2035 by the Chairman of the Planning and Development Committee Mr. Andrew Hutchinson. We look forward to your attendance at the EGM.

Greetings to all members on a sweltering summer afternoon! To keep things running smoothly, please take note of the following updates: Membership Accounts July Statements from Omni Wizard: The July statements which represent the Food & Beverage transactions from July 15th to 31st, were issued on Thursday, August 27th. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience. Caribsurf Email: A reminder to Caribsurf users to please send your new email addresses to update your contact information. This will affect your ability to receive club statements and member broadcasts and participate on the electronic voting application. Child Safety & Supervision Tree Climbing: Please remember that children are not permitted to climb the trees on the beach and must be closely supervised at all times. Additional signage has been posted. Entertainment On Sunday, August 23rd, the Barbados Yacht Club celebrated its 102nd Birthday, with a Smashing Sunday Buffet! BHTA Futsal Tournament:The BYC Team had a short run in the recently held BHTA sponsored Futsal Tournament. They won one of their three games being knocked out of the tournament by Barbados Hilton 2-1 during the third round of games held last Saturday, at the Oasis facility in Kendal Hill. We thank Shem, Akeil and Lionel for getting the team together and all the staff who came out to show their support. We will don BIGGER things next year!

HUMAN RESOURCES & MEMBER SERVICES The HR & Member Services Committee continues to focus on strengthening service standards across the Club. Following the Food & Beverage staff training programme held in June, the Committee is reviewing opportunities for further coaching and development to build on the progress already being made. Recognising and supporting our team is an important part of this. Members are encouraged to acknowledge individual staff members who provide exceptional service. A simple word of thanks or recognition can go a long way in building morale and encouraging high standards. Attention is also being given to the beach and wider Club environment, including housekeeping, table clearing, signage, and overall presentation. The Committee continues to work on staff onboarding and performance management, while exploring better ways to manage visitors. With total membership now exceeding 2,000, ensuring that our service and facilities keep pace with the Club’s growth remains a priority. Parents and guardians are reminded that children under 16 remain their responsibility while at the Club, and nappies should only be changed in the washroom facilities. Members are also asked to help keep the beach clean, return dishes when staff are no longer on duty, and ensure their guests are familiar with and follow Club regulations. One valuable benefit of BYC membership is access to a network of more than 50 reciprocal private members’ clubs worldwide, spanning the Caribbean, North America, Europe, and Asia. Members wishing to visit a reciprocal club simply need to contact the BYC office with the club name and dates of their visit. The office will arrange the required reciprocal letter. A full list of reciprocal clubs is available from the Club office and on our website, and we encourage members travelling overseas to take advantage of this benefit. Our focus remains simple: better service, engaged staff, and an enjoyable Club experience for members and their guests.

ENTERTAINMENT The Entertainment Committee continues to focus on creating a vibrant but wellbalanced social calendar, with fewer, well-planned events that give members a reason to come to the Club and enjoy time with family and friends. Alongside our special events, we are also looking at ways to make Fridays at BYC a more consistent part of Club life, with Happy Hour, Food & Beverage specials and music in the Bar. September starts with our Back to School Weekend. On Friday, 4 September, join us for our Last Friday of Summer, with food and drink specials, music and family activities. This will be followed on Sunday, 6 September by our Back to School Family Sunday, with a family-focused lunch and entertainment. Later in the month, members can also look forward to our Sunday Buffet on 20 September and Last Friday with JJ Poulter & Chadd on 25 September. Looking further ahead, the Committee is developing the entertainment programme for the remainder of the year. Members are encouraged to keep an eye on Club emails, the WhatsApp Community and notice boards for event details, weekly specials and entertainment updates. There is always a reason to come to the Yacht Club. We look forward to seeing you.
