INDIA'S CINEMA EXHIBITION INDUSTRY SEEKS POLICY RESET AMID RISING COSTS AND SHRINKING FOOTFALLS

India's cinema exhibition industry is pressing for a regulatory rethink as rising operating costs, shrinking footfalls and changing viewing habits strain a business that has yet to recover its pre-pandemic momentum, according to a new EY study commissioned by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI). Titled ‘The Story of Film Exhibition in India’, the report positions theatrical exhibition as a crucial but increasingly fragile link in the country's media and entertainment value chain. While cinema-going remains culturally relevant, the data suggests the economics of running theatres have diverged sharply from broader growth trends in the economy and the M&E sector.

EY's analysis shows that India's theatrical revenues have declined at a compounded annual rate of 0.2% between 2019 and 2024, even as India's GDP expanded at 6.6% and

the M&E sector grew at over 5% annually. Gross theatrical revenues fell from INR 19,100 crore in 2019 to INR 18,746 crore in 2024, while revenue per screen dropped by about 5% over the same period.

Footfalls tell a starker story. Total admissions fell 41% between 2019 and 2024, from 1.46 billion to 860 million. Fewer than 150 million Indians, roughly 10% of the population-are estimated to visit cinemas annually, underscoring how theatrical exhibition now caters to a narrow slice of the market.

Structural constraints compound the challenge. India has just under 10,000 cinema screens, translating to around seven screens per million people far below peers such as the US, China or even smaller European markets. Screen density has declined since 2018, largely due to the closure of single-screen theatres, while large multiplex chains have cut back investment by about 12% since 2019. On the demand side, the report highlights a feedback loop between content quality and consumption. More than half of surveyed cinemagoers cited deteriorating content quality as their main reason for staying away from theatres, while producers flagged a shortage of strong scripts and writers. At the same time, shortened theatrical windows-now as low as four to eight weeks before films debut on streaming platformsare altering audience behaviour. About a third of respondents said they would rather wait for an OTT release if the streaming window is short, directly impacting box office potential.

Cost pressures remain a persistent concern. Multiplexes pay electricity tariffs closer to commercial rates, which are significantly higher than those for many other consumer categories. Ticket pricing is further

constrained by state-level caps and a GST structure that imposes 18% tax on tickets priced above INR 100 -a threshold unchanged since 2017 despite cumulative inflation of over 40% during that period. The EY report argues that these frictions limit the sector's ability to invest, innovate and expand into underserved regions. Around 16,350 of India's 19,000 pin codes have no cinema screens at all.

EY estimates that doubling the national screen count to 20,000 could generate about 1.25 lakh additional jobs and nearly INR 950 crore in incremental tax revenues, provided regulatory bottlenecks are eased. Rather than prescribing solutions, the study lays out a set of policy considerations for discussion. These include rationalising GST thresholds, granting industry status to cinema exhibition to lower input costs, allowing greater flexibility in ticket pricing, and encouraging longer theatrical windows through industry consensus. It also flags the potential for cinemas to diversify revenue by hosting live events, sports screenings and community activities, particularly during nonpeak hours. MAI said the findings are meant to inform dialogue with policymakers at a time when theatrical exhibition is undergoing structural change, not merely a cyclical slowdown. The association represents over 11 cinema chains operating more than 550 multiplexes and around 3,000 screens nationwide. As digital platforms continue to reshape how Indians consume entertainment, the report's central argument is that cinemas still matter economically and culturally but their survival will depend on whether regulation evolves in step with the market realities they now face.

To mark National Popcorn Day on January 19, 2026, Cinépolis offered popcorn at INR 19 across all locations nationwide. GLOBAL RELEASE OF TOXIC: A FAIRY TALE FOR GROWN-UPS RESCHEDULED

KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations have officially announced a new release date for the highly anticipated film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, starring Rocking Star Yash. Originally slated for a March 19th debut, the film will now hit global theatres on June 4, 2026. The decision comes after careful consideration of the current geopolitical uncertainties, particularly in the Middle East. The production teams emphasised that these external factors impact their core goal of ensuring a synchronized, wide-scale connection with a global audience.

UFO CINE MEDIA NETWORK ANNOUNCES 'INDIA'S BIGGEST CINEMA MOMENT EVER' CAMPAIGN

UFO Cine Media Network has unveiled its marquee initiative, 'India's Biggest Cinema Moment Ever' campaign, anchored around the simultaneous nationwide release of two major action entertainers, Dhurandhar 2 - The Revenge and Toxic. With trade estimates and the PROCAT cinema measurement tool projecting nearly 100 million cumulative footfalls across India over the films' lifetime run, the release window is being positioned as one of the most commercially significant cinema moments in recent years.

The rare dual release brings together two high-decibel titles backed by strong pre-release buzz and pan-India traction. Dhurandhar 2 - The Revenge, a high-voltage India-Pakistan spy thriller, is slated for release in five languages, expanding its footprint across both northern and southern markets. The franchise has built a substantial multi-language audience base through theatrical success and OTT consumption.

Toxic, headlined by pan-India star Yash, is expected to command significant turnout across southern circuits as well as national markets. Yash's previous theatrical outing, KGF: Chapter 2, grossed over INR 1,250 crore worldwide, underscoring his box-office draw and loyal fan base. Trade observers anticipate strong occupancies across Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, supported by heightened marketing momentum and strong audience anticipation.

Against this backdrop, UFO Cine Media Network is positioning the window as a defining milestone for advertisers seeking scale and

attention. Commenting on the announcement, Siddharth Bhardwaj, CEO - Enterprise Business, UFO Cine Media Network, said, "When two mass entertainers with a pan-India appeal release simultaneously, the result is not just footfalls but concentrated national attention. With nearly 100 million expected footfalls, this window represents scale rarely seen in cinema. For brands, it offers a powerful combination of reach, immersion and accountability, a high-impact environment where messaging lands with clarity and recall deepens significantly."

UFO operates across more than 4,100 theatres nationwide, making it India's largest in-cinema advertising platform. Its network spans multiplexes and single screens across metro and regional markets, enabling synchronised

national rollouts during tentpole release weekends. Adding further perspective, Sachinn Guptaa, Country Head - Enterprise Business, UFO Cine Media Network, stated, "We are confidently announcing this as 'India's Biggest Cinema Moment Ever' because the convergence of scale, geography and audience energy makes it comparable to the country's largest media properties. While many platforms deliver reach, cinema delivers uninterrupted attention. Audiences are fully present and emotionally invested and that translates into stronger brand recall and measurable ROI. For advertisers planning performance-led campaigns, this is a strategic moment that cannot be overlooked."

As India's theatrical ecosystem expands beyond metros into highgrowth regional centres, large-scale dual releases are increasingly becoming anchor moments in annual media planning calendars. With Dhurandhar 2 - The Revenge and Toxic poised to dominate screens nationwide, industry stakeholders believe this release window could set new benchmarks, not only for box-office performance, but also for cinema's evolution as a high-attention, performance-driven advertising medium.

DHURANDHAR OVERSEAS BOX OFFICE: ENDS THE RUN AS 4TH HIGHESTGROSSING INDIAN FILM POST-COVID

Ranveer Singh-led Dhurandhar has entered the box office record books thanks to its extraordinary run. It stunned everyone with its phenomenal run globally, crossing

the INR 1300 crore mark recently. Talking specifically about the overseas market, the film exceeded expectations and emerged as one of the biggest hits in the post-COVID era. It managed to be among the top four Indian grossers in the overseas market. Internationally, it amassed the biggest chunk of business from the North American territory (the USA and Canada), where it also became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. For those who don't know, in North America alone, the magnum opus has earned around $20.24 million (INR 183.5 crores) so far. Even territories like the UK and Australia have contributed well. As per the latest collection update, Dhurandhar has earned a staggering INR 289.4 crore gross at the overseas box office in 44 days. And what makes it more special is the fact that the film was not released in the traditional Bollywood market of the UAE-GCC. The film is already a big blockbuster internationally and is heading for a closure below INR 294-295 crores. With INR 289.4 crore gross in the kitty, Dhurandhar has become the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film at the overseas box office in the post-COVID era. To reach the fourth place, it surpassed Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD (INR 275 crores).

Considering the film has almost exhausted, it'll be ending the run in the same position.

DRIX COLLABORATES WITH MARTY SUPREME IN

PARTNERSHIP WITH PVR INOX PICTURES FOR A CINEMA LED- BRAND INTEGRATION

Drix, India's next-generation functional soda brand, recently announced a high-impact collaboration with the upcoming film Marty Supreme, in association with PVR INOX Pictures, bringing together cinema, pop culture, and next-generation beverages through a visually driven, experiential partnership. At the centre of the collaboration is Drix - Orange Crush, whose bold orange identity mirrors the distinctive visual branding of Marty Supreme. The partnership is built on a shared colour language and energy-led appeal, allowing the brand to integrate seamlessly into the film's ecosystem across cinemas, engagements, and curated brand moments. Speaking on the collaboration, a spokesperson for Drix said, "This partnership felt organic from the outset. The visual alignment between Marty Supreme's bold orange branding and DrixOrange Crush allowed us to collaborate in a way that feels intuitive, immersive, and culturally relevant-especially within the

HIGHEST-GROSSING INDIAN FILMS OF 2025

We enter a new year with many exciting projects lying ahead. What about the year gone by? Which are the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025? Earlier, it was reported about Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar topping the list, having already grossed over INR 1100 crore from theatres worldwide. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, second on the list is Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1, which has grossed INR 852 crore at the global box office. The film, also starring Rukmini Vasanth and Gulshan Devaiah, among others, did great business thanks to its dubbed versions performing in different parts of India. The third spot is occupied by Laxman Utekar's Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal. According to Sacnilk, the film earned INR 808 crore from theatres worldwide. Mohit Suri's Saiyaara and Lokesh Kanagaraj-Rajinikanth's Coolie round out the top five highest-grossing Indian films of 2025 list. As reported earlier, Coolie is also the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025, which is rather remarkable considering the negative reviews for the film. The five films in the bottom half of the list are

Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR's War 2, Mahavatar Narsimha, Kalyani Priyadarshan's Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG, and the multistarrer Housefull 5. These films, except for Lokah, did not get overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. As reported earlier, director Dominic Arun's Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has also become the highestgrossing Malayalam film of all time.

The primary vision of E4U Entertainment is to

present every film with a fresh narrative and a distinct stylistic approach. The production house aims to provide wholesome entertainment that an entire family can enjoy together. Furthermore, these films are not intended solely for local theatres; there is a robust roadmap to release them internationally on the big screen and across major OTT platforms, ensuring that Gujarati cinema reaches a global audience.

NO TRADE LICENCE

NEEDED UNDER MUNICIPAL LAWS FOR CINEMA EXHIBITION: KARNATAKA HIGH COURT

The High Court of Karnataka has held that theatres do not require a trade licence for exhibiting cinematographic films, as such activity is governed by the licensing framework under the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) Act, 1964, and not the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964. However, the court made it clear that any ancillary commercial activities within the theatre premises, including food vending and other business activities, require trade licence under Section 256 of the KMC Act. Justice Suraj Govindaraj passed the order while partly allowing the petition filed by Kesari Enterprises, which had challenged the notice issued by Chitamni City Municipal Council in Chickballapur district asking the petitioner to obtain trade licence for operating a cinema theatre. The

court pointed out that the KCR Act, 1964 is a special legislation enacted to regulate the exhibition of cinematographic films as it provides a complete statutory mechanism governing grant of licence for cinema theatres, structural and infrastructural compliance, fire safety and public safety measures, and conditions for exhibition and supervisory control by the Deputy Commissioner of the district.

As the KMC Act specifically deals only with 'shooting' of films and 'treating' of films, and the word, 'exhibition' of films is not included in this Act for securing trade licence under Section 256, the court should infer that the legislature had consciously not included 'exhibition' of the films under the KMC Act, the court pointed out. Consequently, the court said, a trade licence under the Section 256 cannot be insisted upon solely for the purpose of exhibition of cinematographic films the municipal authority is at liberty to regulate ancillary commercial activities within the theatre premises and to recover property tax dues in accordance with law. While quashing the notice issued to the petitioner to secure trade licence for cinema exhibition, the court said that it would be incumbent on the petitioner to obtain appropriate licences as per law before carrying on such ancillary activities, either directly or through vendors, contractors, or third parties.

AAMIR KHAN TALKS ABOUT INDIA'S CINEMA PROBLEM

Aamir Khan, known as Bollywood's 'Mr Perfectionist,' is focusing on more than just how much money movies made on their first day. In a recent interview, he pointed out a big problem in the Indian film industry: we don't have enough cinema

screens. Even though the movie Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, is doing really well at the box office, Aamir thinks the current earnings are only a small part of what could be achieved. He used the success of Dhurandhar to show how many chances we are missing. The film has already made over INR 1,000 crore, but Aamir believes it could have made much more if it had been shown in more theatres. "If Dhurandhar had been released in 15,000 screens instead of 5,000, the earnings would be huge!" he said, emphasising that more screens would mean much more money and a wider audience. Aamir also compared India to China, pointing out a big difference in the number of screens. India has about 9,000 to 10,000 screens, while China has almost 1, 00,000. This difference lets Chinese films earn billions of dollars. "We have only one-tenth of their number of theatres," he said. "Big films in China make billions of dollars." Additionally, Aamir mentioned that many people in India still find it hard to go to the movies because there aren't enough screens in their areas. "Real change will happen when we have more screens. There are many districts in India without a single theatre," he noted. He believes that building more theatres is the key to making cinema accessible to everyone. "When we increase the number of screens, the business will grow at the local level," he explained.

XPAND DIGITAL STRENGTHENS FREEDEO'S LEADERSHIP IN INDIA'S 3D CINEMA MARKET

The saying ‘Rome was not built in a day’ perfectly captures the steady and determined journey of XPAND DIGITAL and its enduring partnership with Shenzhen Timewaying. What started nearly a decade ago with the launch of FREEDEO Passive 3D systems has since grown into one of the most resilient and committed success stories within India's digital cinema landscape. XPAND DIGITAL's association with Timewaying started with the exclusive dealership of FREEDEO 3D solutions in India. The responsibility extended far beyond distribution. It involved strategic marketing, brand building, and positioning FREEDEO competitively among established American, European, and Chinese brands. The objective was clear from the outset: not to become just another vendor in the market, but to build a brand synonymous with 3D technology.

The journey was not without challenges. The 3D segment experienced a noticeable slowdown over the years. Fewer 3D titles were released, several 3D conversions underperformed, and a section of audiences began to feel that 3D was being unnecessarily pushed into storytelling formats that did not demand it. Then came the unprecedented disruption caused

by the COVID pandemic, which further strained the exhibition industry. Despite these headwinds, XPAND DIGITAL remained steadfast in its belief that 3D, when executed correctly, represents one of the most compelling advantages of digital cinema. The company chose to focus on steady growth, strong after sales support, and long term trust building rather than short term gains. By cutting through the external noise and continuing with measured steps, XPAND DIGITAL strengthened its reputation as a dependable 3D solutions provider across the country.

Today, FREEDEO has emerged as a leading brand in the 3D space in India. Top national multiplex chains, independent plexes, and numerous single screen cinemas across the length and breadth of the country have adopted FREEDEO 3D systems, reflecting growing confidence in the technology and the service ecosystem supporting it. A significant factor in this journey has been the consistent backing of Shenzhen Timewaying. According to XPAND DIGITAL, the manufacturer maintained a collaborative approach, prioritising process and long term presence over aggressive sales targets. This alignment of vision enabled the Indian partner to focus on

strengthening client relationships and improving service standards.

Looking ahead, XPAND DIGITAL believes the Indian market is entering a promising new phase for 3D exhibition. With several major Indian and Hollywood titles slated for 3D release in the coming months, the company expects renewed audience interest and a broader realisation of the format's true potential on the big screen. As anticipation builds for these releases, XPAND DIGITAL has expressed gratitude to Shenzhen Timewaying, its clients, and its internal team for their continued support in shaping the evolution of 3D cinema in India.

RAJINIKANTH AND KAMAL HAASAN REUNITE AFTER THEIR FIRST COLLABORATION SINCE 1979

The announcement video of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan's much-anticipated new film was unveiled on February 21, 2026. This project marks a significant reunion for Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, who last appeared together in the 1979 fantasy film

Allauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum

The promotional video features a light-hearted exchange among director Nelson, composer Anirudh Ravichander, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan. Throughout the video, the two legendary actors engage in playful speculation about their costumes, which reveal a striking retro theme. The nostalgic looks of both actors have sparked excitement among their fans. Red Giant Movies, which is producing the film, shared a statement on its social media platform, emphasising the

significance of this reunion. The statement reads, "History rarely repeats itself…But when it does, it becomes a celebration for generations. The reunion of two towering legends is a moment of immense pride and emotion for Red Giant Movies." The company highlighted the film's theme, noting that "#KHxRK will be a celebration of the legends we've adored and grown up watching on screen." They also expressed gratitude toward director Nelson for his role in making this collaboration possible and mentioned Anirudh Ravichander as the ideal choice for composing the film's music. In anticipation of the film, a retrostyle poster featuring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan was shared a day prior to the announcement video. Director Nelson, who has previously collaborated with Rajinikanth on the film Jailer, is currently involved in the making of Jailer 2. Fans are particularly eager to see what Anirudh Ravichander will bring to the soundtrack of this new project. As this story continues to evolve, fans are eagerly looking forward to more information regarding the film's release and additional promotional content. The excitement surrounding this film is palpable, marking a significant milestone in Indian cinema with the collaboration of these two iconic actors. The direction and music promise to enhance the anticipated gangsterthemed narrative.

PRODUCERS' TAKEOVER RESHAPING BIG SCREENS IN KERALA

A silent but decisive power shift is unfolding behind Kerala's silver screens. Major production houses and distributors are no longer content with just making and releasing films; they are now taking over cinemas, reshaping the state's exhibition landscape and tightening their grip over the cinema business. Industry heavyweights such as Antony Perumbavoor's Aashirvad Cinemas and Listin Stephen's Magic Frames are increasingly leasing, reviving, and operating financially struggling cinemas. At the same time, players like Gokulam Films, Dreambig Films and Mycinemas are expanding their footprint. The strategy is clear: control the entire value chain-from production and distribution to exhibition. In an industry defined by high budgets and unpredictable returns, owning cinemas ensures guaranteed screen space, reduces dependence on third parties and maximises profits, while also allowing production houses to mitigate risk by securing theatrical runs for their films, especially when competition for screens intensifies during major releases, said industry officials. However, this has sparked unease among smaller cinema owners and exhibitors.

Liberty Basheer, president of Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation (KFEF), warned that the trend could concentrate power in the hands of a few. "The huge expenses to run the business have led to lease agreements and takeovers. The small-scale business cannot survive. The cost of running a business, with electricity bills and other charges, is huge”.

PALAXI CINEMAS:

WHERE LUXURY MEETS MAGNITUDE

The pursuit of a perfect cinematic experience has evolved from simple moviegoing into an immersive journey of sight, sound, and luxury. In the heart of Kerala's cultural landscape, a new standard for entertainment has emerged, blending high-end technology with an approachable philosophy. This evolution represents a shift in how audiences engage with stories on screen, moving away from traditional theatre designs toward a holistic destination where architectural innovation meets digital convenience.

A New Benchmark in Thrissur

Palaxi Cinemas Thrissur represents the second premium property from the brand, following its successful debut in Calicut. Situated within the

HiLITE Mall, this multiplex features six state-of-the-art auditoriums designed to provide an unparalleled viewing experience. The facility is anchored by the flagship EPIQ

screen and a dedicated Signature auditorium, marking a significant upgrade in the region's entertainment infrastructure.

Architectural & Visual Innovation

The architectural and technical design of Palaxi Cinemas Thrissur represents a sophisticated marriage of spatial engineering and high-end visual technology. By categorising each auditorium into specific performance tiers, the property ensures that every guest enjoys a premium sensory experience, whether they are in a massive large-format hall or an intimate luxury setting.

The EPIQ Experience

The flagship of the multiplex is Screen 2, designated as an EPIQ Premium Large Format auditorium. This theatre holds the distinction of being the largest of its kind in Kerala, featuring a massive Harkness Silver Screen that measures 28.5 by 52 feet.

To ensure a flawless visual, the screen utilises Lensray Technology, which guarantees uniform brightness across the entire surface and eliminates common issues like dimmed corners or hot spots.

The visual power behind this auditorium comes from a Barco 4K RGB Laser Projector, renowned for its superior contrast and deep colour saturation. To complement the massive visuals, the hall is engineered with stadium seating for unobstructed sightlines and utilises a Dolby Atmos system paired with specialised Dolby SLS speakers to create a fully immersive 360-degree soundscape.

Specialised Screen Geometry & Projection

A defining characteristic of this property is its departure from the conventional single-format theatre design. Palaxi Thrissur introduces a diverse range of screen geometries to the region, featuring a mix of three flat aspect ratio screens and three Scope ratio screens.

"The architectural design of Palaxi Cinemas Thrissur is centred on a welcoming ‘Namaste’ motif, strategically crafted to draw guests in from the mall. This concept is brought to life in a grand double-height lobby, where intersecting lines and pointed brown baffles form a diamond pattern that transitions seamlessly from the entrance to the auditorium doors. The aesthetic relies on elegant simplicity, using paint, plaster, and crisscross vertical lines to create a sophisticated shadow effect throughout the corridors. This design language extends into the auditoriums, including the flagship EPIQ screen, where every element is engineered to provide an immersive and visually captivating cinematic environment."

This variety allows for the optimal presentation of different cinematic formats as intended by filmmakers. Additionally, the three Flat screens are equipped with passive

3D technology for fans of immersive depth. While the flagship EPIQ hall utilises 4K projection, the remaining five auditoriums are powered by high-brightness Barco 2K Laser Projectors, ensuring vibrant and crisp imagery throughout the complex.

Signature Luxury & Tiered Audio Systems

The multiplex offers tailored environments to suit different audience needs, most notably in the Signature Audi. This space is

"Within just two years of launching our first theatre, being honoured with a national award fills us with deep gratitude. In this short span, we have opened two theatres across Kerala, with the third launching next month and the fourth within five to six months, taking us to 25 screens state-wide. With plans to expand to 50 screens soon, our vision remains clear: redefining cinema through cutting-edge technology, immersive design, and a truly elevated viewing experience."

designed as an elite sanctuary for moviegoers, featuring premium ergonomic recliner seating and refined interior finishes. To maintain audio excellence across all six screens, the sound systems are strategically distributed:

Signature Audi: This luxury hall is equipped with a full Dolby Atmos setup, providing a premium auditory experience that matches the flagship EPIQ screen.

Standard Auditoriums:

The remaining screens utilise Dolby 7.1.2 High Definition sound, offering a precise and powerful environment that far exceeds standard cinema audio levels.

Spatial Engineering & Acoustic Integrity

The integration of six distinct auditoriums within a single complex required rigorous spatial planning and acoustic isolation. The property utilises advanced, multi-layered acoustic treatments on all walls to prevent sound leakage between adjacent rooms. This is further enhanced by visually seamless acoustic panelling designed to eliminate echo. These engineering choices ensure that the audio remains crisp, clear, and perfectly localised, regardless of the volume or intensity of the film being shown in the neighbouring hall.

The Digital First Revolution

In a bold move toward modernising the guest experience, the Thrissur

"Our relationship with Palaxi Cinemas started with their Calicut property, where they adopted Movieclicks as their full theatre management solution. When they planned their Thrissur cinema, the Palaxi team wanted something different; no physical box office. They aimed for a fully cashless, paperless experience with self-ticketing, WhatsApp image tickets, integrated food ordering, and seat delivery for F&B. Being from Thrissur, this project was especially meaningful to me. We built a system that was simple, intuitive, and easy for any moviegoer to use. The response was incredible, and the concept was a huge success. Palaxi truly stands out for its progressive approach and trust in innovation."

property is the first in the region to eliminate the traditional box office counter. The entrance features a dedicated self-service kiosk zone, creating a fully paperless and digital ticketing process. This system, developed by Movieclicks, allows for a seamless flow of guests. This digital integration extends to the brand's own booking platform, which includes loyalty programmes, seat ordering, and integrated food and beverage services.

Leadership & Vision

Palaxi Cinemas is a premium venture of the HiLITE Group, a developer with over three decades

of experience in creating landmark retail and residential projects. The vision is led by Chairman P. Sulaiman and CEO Muhamed Fawaz. Their shared philosophy focuses on the democratisation of luxury, aiming to bridge the gap between world-class technology and the common man by offering premium experiences at an approachable price point.

Recognition & Future Expansion

The commitment to excellence has already earned the brand significant accolades, including the 2024 IMAGE Retail Award and the 2025 Big Cine Expo award for Best Cinema Theatre in a Tier 2 City. Looking ahead, the group aims to expand its footprint significantly, to operate over 100 screens by 2030. This growth strategy focuses on bringing the same level of comfort and technology to various cities across Kerala, ensuring that high-quality cinema remains accessible to all movie lovers.

AMB CINEMAS KAPALI: SOUTH INDIA'S FIRST DOLBY CINEMA

The evolution of the cinematic experience has reached a new pinnacle in Bengaluru with the arrival of a premier destination that merges historical legacy with futuristic technology. Located on the historic grounds of the former Kapali Theatre at Gandhinagar Majestic Road, this new landmark represents a sophisticated leap in film exhibition. It is not merely a place to watch a movie but a cultural and luxury destination designed to redefine how audiences engage with stories on the big screen.

A Legacy Reimagined

The transition from the iconic Kapali Theatre to this modern ninescreen luxury property is a tribute to the enduring power of cinema. The design philosophy centres on preservation and progress. Within its walls, the property houses a dedicated tribute installation titled 50 Years of Kapali, which serves as a visual journey through five decades of cinematic history. The Promoters of AMB are Narayandas K. Narang, along with Mahesh Babu Ghattamaneni and Namrata Shirodkar Ghattamaneni, Suniel Narang and Bharat Narang. This installation ensures that the cultural impact of the original theatre and the stars who graced

its screens are never forgotten. Further anchoring the space in its local roots is a curated wall celebrating 50 iconic women from

the Kannada film industry, recognising their monumental contributions to Indian cinema alongside other regional legends.

Technical Excellence and Immersive Formats

Technically, the property stands as a titan in the South Indian exhibition landscape. It proudly hosts the region's first Dolby Cinema, a largeformat auditorium engineered for unparalleled visual contrast, brightness, and immersive sound. The integration of technology is a collaborative masterpiece involving industry leaders like Dolby India and Qube. Each of the nine screens is equipped with Barco 4K Laser and Christie HDR projection systems, ensuring that every frame is rendered with razor-sharp clarity and colour accuracy.

The auditory experience is equally meticulous. Using QSC and Dolby Audio systems paired with highperformance Harkness screens, the auditoriums provide a balanced acoustic environment. This setup ensures that whether a viewer is watching a high-octane blockbuster or a nuanced drama, the sound distribution remains precise and powerful across all seating areas. RADIANCE CINEMA:

THE NEW CINEMATIC ICON IN RAJAPALAYAM

Deep in the heart of a bustling town, a premier cinematic landmark stands as a vibrant gateway to unforgettable entertainment, blending artistic design with world-class technology. This destination represents a thoughtful revival of a historic site, reimagined to offer a sophisticated and immersive atmosphere. By prioritising generous personal space and state-of-the-art presentation, the venue sets a new standard for excellence in regional cinema.

Radiance Cinema Rajapalayam stands as a vibrant gateway to unforgettable cinematic experiences. Designed to elevate the joy of movie watching, the cinema features two distinct buildings, Radiance Galaxy and Radiance Palace, each crafted to offer comfort, style, and immersive entertainment. As a modern multiscreen destination, it delivers powerful visuals and rich sound through its three specialised screens: GALAXY, EPIQ, and GRANDE.

A Vision for Regional Excellence

Radiance Cinema Rajapalayam was envisioned to redefine the cinematic

experience within a growing town by bridging the gap between metropolitan multiplex standards and local audience expectations. Every area was planned with the guest journey in mind to ensure seamless flow and engagement rather than focusing solely on functional seating. Instead of prioritising size or screen count, the facility was thoughtfully designed with a reduced seating capacity to emphasise comfort and ease. The space between rows has been generously planned so guests can sit or move freely without disturbance, which significantly enhances both convenience and viewing pleasure. This deliberate approach reflects a commitment to a relaxed and premium environment where personal space and audience satisfaction take precedence over numbers. By balancing luxury interiors and advanced presentation

with an understanding of local tastes, the cinema makes a high-end experience accessible and relatable. Under the vision of sole proprietor S. Ramprakash, the project blends modern cinematic standards with local sensibilities to set a new benchmark for regional theatres in Tamil Nadu. The result is a social and immersive space where every visit becomes a memorable moment

Reviving a Cultural Landmark

Radiance Cinema Rajapalayam is a carefully renovated revival of a wellknown cinema originally established in the 1980s, rather than a newly constructed building. During its initial era, the theatre was one of the most celebrated movie destinations in the district and remained deeply etched in the memories of the local audience. After being inactive for a period, the site was transformed in 2023 with a vision to reimagine the space for a new generation while honouring its historical significance.

Because the property consists of two standalone buildings that could not be structurally joined, the redevelopment was executed in phases. The first phase featured the launch of Radiance Galaxy, a modern theatre with a contemplative theme that marked the rebirth of the property. Shortly after, during the 2025 Diwali festive season, two additional screens opened to bring renewed energy to the local cinematic landscape. The second phase introduced the Radiance Palace, which serves as a striking contrast to the minimalism of Galaxy. Designed to be traditional and artistic, Radiance Palace offers patrons the sensation of stepping into a royal residence where every architectural detail reflects meticulous craftsmanship. This rich design is complemented by cutting-edge technology.

Cinema has introduced advanced formats that are rare even in metropolitan markets, including the brand's second EPIQ screen. From acoustic engineering to seating geometry, every corner of the auditorium is designed to ensure superior audio clarity and an immersive experience. Through this thoughtful blend of legacy, innovation, and technology, Radiance Cinema Rajapalayam serves as a powerful example

of how regional theatres can be transformed into world-class destinations.

Architectural Artistry & Themes

The cinema is distinguished by its deliberate and immersive approach to design. Radiance Galaxy embraces a modern, contemplative aesthetic with clean lines and a refined colour palette. In contrast, Radiance Palace offers an artistic, traditional atmosphere inspired by regal architecture. Meticulous craftsmanship is evident throughout the property. To achieve the rich golden finishes in the arches, specialised factories were engaged for over four months. Custom chandeliers and lamp-style lighting reminiscent of traditional fire lanterns reinforce the ‘Palace’ theme, while glass false ceilings enhance the sense of spatial openness.

Advanced Cinematic Technology

Behind the elegant interiors lies cutting-edge technology integrated

by Qube. Radiance Cinema introduced advanced formats that are rare even in metropolitan markets. All screens are equipped with high-brightness Laser Projectors and Dolby sound systems, ensuring high brightness, sharp contrast, and uniform audio clarity. Notably, this project features the brand's second EPIQ screen which is illuminated by BARCO SP4K, following a successful launch in Madurai.

The GRANDE and GALAXY screens complement this by offering a luxury format with slider seats, providing premium comfort at an accessible price point.

Prioritising Guest Comfort

What truly sets the cinema apart is its focus on the guest experience. The total seating capacity is capped at 700 to ensure generous legroom and easy movement between rows. 310 seats in EPIC, 120 in GRANDE, and 265 in GALAXY. The theatre features luxury interiors, thoughtfully designed couple seats, and an exclusive King and Queen Photo booth seating area. This attention to detail extends to the restrooms, which are designed as premium environments with luxury tiles and high standards of cleanliness. The lobby also features innovative flexible pillar LED screens, which serve as both a visual centrepiece and a functional

"This marks our second EPIQ screen in association with Radiance Cinemas, and the collaboration continues to feel like a natural fit. Radiance is a partner that genuinely values cinema and the cinemagoer, and consistently invests in elevating the theatrical experience rather than settling for benchmarks. Following the strong response to EPIQ in Madurai, the reception in Rajapalayam has been equally encouraging. It reinforces our belief that audiences, even in non-metro markets, recognise and appreciate superior picture and sound when it is delivered with intent."

platform for cafe offerings and advertising.

Working Within Limits

Transforming a legacy building into a modern multiplex presented significant engineering hurdles. Originally designed as a balconystyle theatre, the building had to be converted into a gallery-style arrangement. This required extensive structural reports and weight distribution assessments to ensure safety while integrating modern luxury within the original 1980s framework. The successful

execution is a testament to meticulous planning and visionary engineering.

Beyond the Screen

Radiance Cinema caters to a cinema-aware and content-driven audience. While it primarily screens the latest Tamil releases, it also showcases Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and English films. By offering a variety of genres, from action blockbusters to critically acclaimed regional dramas, the cinema provides an inclusive experience for all age groups.

The experience is rounded out by a wide range of treats at the food court and ample parking for guests' convenience. Through the dedication of concession partners, the theatre maintains high standards of hygiene and quality in its food offerings. By blending legacy, innovation, and local sensibilities, Radiance Cinema Rajapalayam has transformed from a local theatre into a globalstandard entertainment destination. With plans to upgrade further to deliver accessible entertainment.

PVR INOX:

SETTING THE MEGAPLEX BENCHMARK IN

MUMBAI

A significant shift in the Indian exhibition sector has been marked by the unveiling of a flagship megaplex in one of Mumbai's most rapidly evolving commercial corridors. This development represents a strategic pivot toward direct investment models, where the exhibitor maintains full ownership of design, construction, and operations. By integrating diverse premium formats under a single roof, the project serves as a blueprint for high-density urban entertainment hubs, prioritising long-term asset value and a multifaceted guest experience that extends beyond the traditional screening room.

Key Market Positioning

The opening of the 10-screen megaplex at Sky City Mall in Borivali East signifies a robust commitment to the 'Capex by PVR INOX' model. This internal investment strategy allows India's leading exhibition entity to exercise total creative and operational control, ensuring that the flagship destination aligns with global standards of excellence. By moving away from lighter asset models in this instance, the company underscores its confidence in the enduring value of owned, premium real estate within high-performing metropolitan markets.

The location is a critical component of this business strategy. Situated

within a million square foot lifestyle hub developed by Oberoi Realty, the

cinema is positioned at the intersection of luxury retail and gourmet dining. Its proximity to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and direct connectivity to the Devipada Metro Station and Western Express Highway ensure a steady influx of discerning consumers. The megaplex spans 43,500 square feet, serving as the primary entertainment anchor for a sophisticated demographic seeking inspiration and high-end social connectivity.

Technical Superiority & Format Diversity

The facility is engineered to cater to various market segments through a diversified format mix. With a total capacity of 1,372 seats, the megaplex balances mainstream appeal with specialised, high-margin technology experiences.

A defining characteristic of this venue is the integration of a comprehensive laser projection fleet across all ten auditoria. This advanced technological standard guarantees superior brightness, enhanced contrast, and a significantly broader colour gamut than traditional xenon bulb systems. Such an investment underscores the steadfast commitment of PVR INOX to elevating the consumer experience through high-performance technology and long-term service excellence. The technical configuration includes:

"The launch of our 10-screen Megaplex at Sky City Mall is a proud milestone in our journey to redefine cinema in India. This isn't just a new multiplex, it's a vibrant, design-forward destination where technology, luxury, and youthful energy converge to create truly immersive storytelling spaces. Mumbai continues to be a cornerstone market for us, and with this new launch under our Capex model, we reaffirm our commitment to building aspirational cinemas that resonate with modern audiences. This collaboration with Oberoi Realty has allowed us to push the boundaries of what a multiplex can be: vibrant, immersive, and experiential in every sense."

IMAX with Laser: Utilising a nextgeneration 4K laser projection system and a custom optical engine, this auditorium offers proprietary

IMAX technology designed for maximum immersion.

4DX Immersion: A high-impact, multi-sensory auditorium that

"This Megaplex is not just about scale; it's about shaping cinema as a lifestyle experience in one of Mumbai's most vibrant suburban hubs. With its curated formats, immersive design, and aspirational setting, our Borivali launch marks another step in our vision to build future-ready cinemas that resonate deeply with today's urban audiences."

synchronises motion seats with environmental effects, also powered by laser projection.

Insignia Luxury: Two plush auditoriums dedicated to the group's signature luxury brand, featuring full recliner seating and personalised service.

Mainstream Excellence:

Six additional screens equipped with Dolby 7.1 surround sound to provide a premium baseline for all moviegoers.

Architectural Narrative & Aesthetic Design

The design language of the megaplex departs from traditional cinema aesthetics, opting instead for a youthful and contemporary atmosphere. The lobby and foyers utilise vibrant pastel palettes and fluid layouts that mirror the modern architecture of the surrounding mall. Sophistication is expressed through material choices, including high-quality tiles with metallic inlays and iridescent glass panels.

Each specialised format carries its own visual identity. The IMAX theatre is defined by deep blue and black tones, while the 4DX space utilises a bold red and black scheme to reflect its high-energy nature. In contrast, the Insignia auditoriums are draped in gold and blue,

"We

are pleased to welcome PVR INOX Megaplex to Sky City Mall, continuing our long-term association of excellence and innovation. This partnership is a strong testament to our vision of positioning Sky City Mall as a landmark destination that brings together the very best of lifestyle and entertainment. This sets the stage for future-forward experiences and aligns with our broader goal of creating dynamic, inclusive spaces that evolve with the city and its people."

signalling a transition into a more exclusive, refined environment.

Hospitality as a Revenue Driver

Central to the site's lifestyle-centric approach is the Insignia Lounge. This space is designed to function as a standalone hospitality destination, featuring a sleek open kitchen, a pool table, and statement chandeliers. The lounge's aesthetic, characterised by a white and gold palette and gallery walls honouring Oscar-winning directors, encourages social interaction and extended dwell times. This focus on premium food and beverage (F&B) services is a key driver for

secondary spend, transforming the cinema visit into a comprehensive evening of entertainment. By providing a space for both casual indulgence and formal social gatherings, the megaplex successfully blurs the lines between a traditional theatre and a luxury members' club.

Industry Outlook

The launch of the Borivali East megaplex is a clear indicator of the future of cinema in India's tier one cities. By focusing on capitalintensive, high-design assets, PVR INOX is setting a high barrier to entry and redefining the expectations of the modern cinemagoer. The project demonstrates that when cuttingedge technology is paired with thoughtful architectural design and a robust hospitality offering, the theatrical experience remains an unreplicable and vital component of the urban social fabric.

This flagship development not only strengthens the company's portfolio in Mumbai but also reinforces the viability of the megaplex model as a tool for urban revitalisation and long-term value creation in the global exhibition market.

MIRAJ CINEMAS:

SIGNATURE STYLE CINEMA REIMAGINED IN PATIALA

A significant milestone in regional entertainment has been reached with the opening of a state-of-the-art four-screen multiplex, signalling a new era for premium cinema in the city. Located on the second floor of a prominent retail destination on Rajpura Road, this facility is designed to move beyond traditional movie watching by offering an experience-driven environment that prioritises guest comfort and technological excellence, catering to a growing demand for luxury leisure spaces.

Patiala, a city renowned for its rich heritage and vibrant culture, has just welcomed a significant upgrade to its entertainment landscape. Miraj Cinemas, currently the third largest and one of the fastest growing multiplex chains in India, has officially announced the opening of its latest property at Spectra Mall. This new four-screen multiplex, situated on the second floor of the mall on Rajpura Road, marks a strategic move by the company to bring high-end, experience-driven cinema to regional hubs.

The launch of Miraj Cinemas Spectra Mall is more than just the addition of more movie screens; it represents a shift toward luxury

and comfort for the city's cinephiles. By blending modern architectural aesthetics with cutting-edge technology, the chain aims to transform the routine of watching a film into a complete social and sensory experience.

Architectural Elegance & Social Spaces

The design philosophy of the Patiala property focuses on openness and sophistication. Rather than treating the lobby as a mere transit point for ticket holders, Miraj Cinemas has

curated it to function as a social hub. Visitors are greeted by polished marble flooring and a palette of warm, inviting colours. The use of textured walls and subtle gold accents provides a premium feel that remains understated and elegant. Soft lighting throughout the common areas creates a relaxed atmosphere, encouraging patrons to arrive early and linger after their screenings. This thoughtful design extends into the corridors, where clear pathways and acoustic treatments ensure a smooth, quiet transition from the bustling mall environment to the immersive world of the auditoriums.

Introducing the 'Signature' Experience

At the heart of this new facility is a commitment to diverse viewing preferences. The multiplex boasts a total seating capacity of 803 people, distributed across four screens. While the standard auditoriums offer high-quality digital projection, immersive surround sound, and ample legroom, the crown jewel of the property is Audi 04.

Audi 04 introduces 'Signature,' the homegrown premium format of Miraj Cinemas. This auditorium is designed for viewers who seek a more indulgent and private experience. It features 49 luxury recliner seats, providing maximum comfort and personal space. In addition to the seating, Signature guests enjoy access to an exclusive lounge area and dedicated guest convenience services. This format is inspired by global luxury cinema standards, reflecting a growing demand in Indian Tier 2 cities for premium hospitality within the entertainment sector. Every seat in the house, regardless of the format, has been positioned to ensure clear sightlines, ensuring that every guest has an unobstructed view of the action.

A Culinary Destination Under One Roof

Recognising that the modern cinema goer views food and beverage as an integral part of the outing, Miraj Cinemas has integrated a comprehensive dining experience at the Spectra Mall location. The property features three distinct in-house culinary brands, each catering to different moods and cravings:

PopCorner: This counter serves the quintessential cinema staples. From various flavours of popcorn to crispy nachos and chilled beverages, it caters to those who want the classic movie snacking experience.

Chef Corner: For patrons looking for something more substantial, Chef Corner offers freshly prepared hot food and comfort-style gourmet options. This allows families and

With Miraj CinemasSpectra Mall, we have paid attention to every detail, from our Signature premium format and cinema technology to the overall look, comfort, and food experience. Today, audiences expect more than just a movie. They want to feel comfortable and enjoy the entire outing. With this launch, Miraj Cinemas will operate four properties with twelve screens across Punjab, including Patiala. Additionally, four O&M properties with thirteen screens and two lease properties with eight screens are already in the pipeline, reflecting our long-term commitment to building highquality cinema destinations across the state."

groups to enjoy a full meal without needing to visit a separate food court.

The Beanary Café: A standout feature for coffee lovers, this café provides speciality drinks and light bites. It serves as an ideal spot for a quick meeting before a film or a place to discuss the movie afterwards.

By offering these varied choices, Miraj Cinemas ensures that the multiplex functions as a standalone destination for a day or evening out.

Expanding the Footprint of Indian Cinema

This launch is a testament to Miraj Cinemas' rapid expansion strategy. As the brand continues to grow its footprint across India, its focus remains on bridging the gap between metropolitan luxury and regional accessibility. The Spectra Mall location on Rajpura Road is strategically placed to serve not only the residents of Patiala but also the surrounding areas, making high-quality cinema more accessible to a wider demographic. The technology integrated into the screens includes advanced digital projection systems and immersive audio setups that meet global

standards. This ensures that the creative vision of filmmakers is delivered to the audience with absolute precision in both visual and auditory clarity.

The Imapct on Patiala's Urban Culture

Patiala has seen significant commercial development in recent years, and the arrival of a premium brand like Miraj Cinemas reinforces the city's status as a growing urban centre. By providing a space that prioritises guest comfort, technological excellence, and culinary variety, the multiplex sets a new benchmark for local entertainment. The focus on 'experience-driven' cinema is a response to the rise of home

streaming. Miraj Cinemas understands that to bring audiences back to the big screen, the environment must offer something that cannot be replicated at home. Through the Signature format and the curated lobby atmosphere, they provide a sense of occasion that turns a two-hour movie into a memorable event. In conclusion, Miraj Cinemas Spectra Mall is a blend of luxury, technology, and convenience. Whether it is a family or a premium viewing experience in the Signature recliner seats, the new multiplex offers something for everyone. It stands as a shining example of how Miraj Cinemas is redefining the moviegoing experience across the heart of India.

THE RESURRECTION OF A LEGEND IN GUWAHATI

A cinematic legend in the heart of the city has been reborn. Once a historic single-screen landmark, this iconic venue has emerged as a sleek, two-screen boutique multiplex that perfectly blends heritage with futuristic luxury. It is more than just a theatre; it is the restoration of a local monument, reimagined to offer a high-tech, immersive experience while honouring a storied cultural legacy.

The heart of Guwahati's historic Fancy Bazar has been revitalised with the transformation of the legendary Kelvin Cinema into the modern Kelvin Gold Cinema. Originally founded in 1935 by Jeevanram Goenka, this cultural landmark has evolved from a storied single-screen hall into a sophisticated two-screen boutique multiplex. The reopening is more than a business launch; it is the restoration of a local monument that has been thoughtfully put

forward by the collaboration with Gold Cinema, one of the finest cinemas in the country that voices

experience, comfort and architectural brilliance for the patrons. While the new design features a sleek, futuristic aesthetic, the soul of the cinema remains rooted in the Goenka family's pioneering legacy. This transition marks a new chapter for Assam's film industry, seamlessly bridging the gap between nostalgic heritage and high-tech luxury.

"Kelvin has lived through the memories of generations. Bringing it back in a modern form feels like carrying a legacy forward while creating something new for today's audience."

KELVIN GOLD CINEMA:

Honouring a Storied Legacy

To understand the significance of Kelvin Gold Cinema, one must look back at the milestones that defined its predecessor. For nearly a century, Kelvin remained a pioneer in the region's cultural life. It was a venue of firsts; it hosted the debuts of numerous landmark Assamese films, playing a crucial role in the growth of the local film industry. The theatre famously recorded an unmatched 53-week run of the classic film 'Jai Santoshi Maa' is a feat that remains etched in the memories of older residents. And Kelvin was the first cinema in Guwahati to screen English films, introducing the local population to Hollywood masterpieces like 'Ben Hur' and 'The Ten Commandments'. These milestones did more than just entertain; they broadened the city's cultural imagination. By bringing diverse film formats and international stories to Assam, Kelvin Cinema helped shape the cosmopolitan identity of Guwahati.

"The warm response we are already receiving from young movie lovers and families tells us that Kelvin still holds a special place in Guwahati."

A Design for the Future

Stepping into the new Kelvin Gold Cinema, visitors are immediately met with a design language that screams the future. The architecture moves away from the traditional, bulky layouts of midcentury theatres, opting instead for

a streamlined, immersive ambience. The transition from the bustling, energetic lanes of Fancy Bazar into the cool, polished lobby of the cinema offers a sensory shift that prepares the audience for a premium experience.

The multiplex houses two state-ofthe-art auditoria with a combined seating capacity of 499. This intimate scale ensures that every viewer, regardless of where they sit, feels connected to the narrative on screen. The design philosophy emphasises unobstructed views and acoustic perfection, ensuring that the architecture serves the art of filmmaking.

Cutting Edge Cinematic Technology

Kelvin Gold Cinema has spared no expense in ensuring that its technical specifications rival the best international standards. The hallmark of the new screens is the integration of Christie 2K Laser projection. This technology provides spectacular imaging with vibrant colours and deep contrasts, ensuring that every frame is delivered with surgical precision.

The visual experience is complemented by a powerhouse audio setup. The auditoriums are equipped with Dolby 7.1 surround sound and Pulz IsoWave audio systems. This integration creates a high-fidelity soundscape where every whisper and explosion is rendered with absolute clarity. Additionally, immersive 3D capabilities ensure global blockbusters are experienced in their full three-dimensional glory.

The Height of Luxury and Comfort

In the modern era of streaming, a cinema must offer something the home cannot: unparalleled comfort and service. Kelvin Gold Cinema addresses this through a

planned seating arrangement. While the general seating features push back chairs designed with extra leg space and ergonomic support, the highlight is the 24 ultra-luxurious recliners

These plush recliners are designed with USB charging ports, ensuring your devices stay powered throughout the screening.

“We’ve created a modern, urban entertainment space designed for today’s audience, one that blends advanced cinema technology, comfort, and an immersive atmosphere to redefine the moviegoing experience. From indulgent snacks and classic combo meals to healthier alternatives, the food and beverage options are selected to enhance the overall outing. The integration of high-quality ingredients and diverse choices makes the cinema a destination for foodies as much as for film buffs.

Accessibility in the Heart of the City

One of the primary challenges of visiting Fancy Bazar has

traditionally been the dense traffic and lack of parking. Kelvin Gold Cinema has addressed this head-on. Located within the original Kelvin Cinema compound, the multiplex offers ample parking space, a rare luxury in such a busy commercial district. This makes it an accessible and stress-free entertainment hub for families and movie lovers travelling from across the city.

A New Chapter for Guwahati

The unveiling of Kelvin Gold Cinema is a testament to the resilience of the theatrical experience. By blending the prestige of its 1935 origins with the 'spectacle' of 21stcentury technology, the Goenka family has ensured that Kelvin

remains a relevant and vital part of the city's social fabric. As the lights dim and the projectors hum to life, a new generation of viewers will begin to form their own memories in the same location where their grandparents may have seen their first motion picture. Kelvin Gold Cinema is not just a place to watch a movie; it is a celebration of cinema as a shared, immersive, and luxurious event. Whether it is the lure of the tech, the comfort, or the simple nostalgia of the location, Kelvin Gold Cinema stands ready to serve as Guwahati's premier destination for the magic of the silver screen.

DEVGN CINEX: ELEVATING THE ART OF THE MOVIEGOING IN GHAZIABAD

The entertainment experience is evolving beyond passive viewing into something far more immersive. toned interiors that evoke a sense of welcome and sophistication. The design philosophy extends into the auditoriums, where the focus shifts to optimal sightlines and immersive soundscapes.

This architectural variety serves as a unique selling point, offering a fresh visual and sensory experience with every visit. in this department. The multiplex is equipped with high-quality digital projection systems that bring every frame to life with vivid clarity and colour accuracy. Complementing the visual splendour is a suite of advanced surround sound technologies, most notably Dolby Atmos. This system provides a multi-dimensional audio experience, allowing sound to move around the audience in a threedimensional space, creating a deep sense of immersion. Each auditorium undergoes rigorous acoustic treatment to ensure that every whisper and every explosion is heard with perfect clarity, free from external interference. A Culinary Journey: Beyond Popcorn

Recognising that the modern cinema-going experience is incomplete without high-quality refreshments, Devgn Cinex has reimagined its concessions. The offerings go far beyond standard cinema snacks, though the classics are executed with perfection.

The highlight of the culinary program is the Exclusive MultiCuisine Live Kitchen. Here, chefs prepare a variety of contemporary options, with a specific focus on fresh-dough pizzas made to order. This integration of a live kitchen elevates the multiplex into a lifestyle destination, where dinner and a movie are seamlessly blended into one high-quality outing.

GALALITE SCREENS:

POWERING INDIA’S FIRST HDR CINEMA AT VIZAG

Galalite Screens has achieved a significant milestone in Indian cinema exhibition by enabling the country’s first High Dynamic Range theatrical presentation at Melody Theatre in Visakhapatnam. The installation integrates the Galalite Mirage 2.7 screen with Barco’s LS4K HDR projector, establishing a new technical benchmark for HDR cinema presentation in India.

This development reflects a broader evolution in premium cinema formats, where advanced projection technologies are being successfully implemented beyond multiplex environments and into legacy singlescreen theatres. Galalite Screens played a central role in this transition by delivering screen technology capable of supporting true HDR performance at a theatrical scale.

Melody Theatre, a long-established cinema with a strong regional audience base, undertook a strategic infrastructure upgrade to align with contemporary viewing standards while preserving its cultural identity. The introduction of the Barco LS4K HDR projector significantly enhanced brightness, contrast, and image detail. However, achieving the full potential of HDR projection required a screen engineered to manage elevated luminance levels while maintaining image uniformity, colour accuracy, and contrast stability. To meet these requirements, the theatre selected the Galalite Mirage 2.7 high-gain silver screen, specifically developed for HDR and advanced projection formats.

Technical Engineering of the HDR Screen System

The Galalite Mirage 2.7 is engineered to accurately reproduce the extended dynamic range and precision of HDR content in a theatrical environment. Its high-gain silver coating enables increased brightness output while controlling hotspotting, ensuring consistent luminance distribution across the entire screen surface.

The screen incorporates Galalite’s proprietary Lensray Technology, which delivers centre-to-edge brightness uniformity, accurate colour reproduction, and stable contrast performance. These characteristics are essential for maintaining HDR image integrity throughout the auditorium. Invisible joint construction ensures seamless visuals, while standard perforation maintains acoustic transparency without compromising image quality.

Galalite’s Technical Vision

Commenting on the installation, Yusuf Galabhaiwala of Galalite Screens highlighted the broader implications of HDR adoption in

cinema exhibition. He stated that HDR represents a fundamental shift in cinematic presentation rather than a simple technological enhancement. He emphasised that Galalite focuses on engineering screen systems that serve as the visual foundation for nextgeneration cinema formats. According to him, the Mirage 2.7 is designed to handle extreme luminance levels, precise contrast control, and high colour fidelity at scale, ensuring that evolving projection technologies are never constrained by screen performance. The Melody Theatre installation reflects Galalite’s commitment to enabling exhibitors and filmmakers to deliver cinematic storytelling exactly as intended.

System Integration & Execution

The project was executed in collaboration with Prime Pix under the leadership of Kamalakannan, with Galalite providing technical consultation, custom screen engineering, and on-site installation support. The entire process from order confirmation to final

installation was completed within seven to ten days, including logistics and calibration.

A customised Galalite Mirage 2.7 screen measuring sixty by twentysix feet was installed and precisely calibrated to align with the Barco LS4K HDR projector specifications and the auditorium’s architectural geometry.

Performance Outcomes & Audience Impact

Post installation performance assessments indicate a substantial improvement in visual quality, including higher perceived brightness, improved sharpness, deeper black levels, enhanced shadow detail, and more accurate colour reproduction across all

seating positions. Audience feedback has been strongly positive, with viewers reporting a noticeably more immersive and engaging cinematic experience from the first screening onward.

For Melody Theatre, the upgrade reinforces its position as a technologically progressive cinema destination in Visakhapatnam. From an industry perspective, the project establishes a reference model for implementing HDR presentation in single-screen theatres.

Industry Feedback

Dr Atluri, owner of Melody Theatre, noted that the Galalite screen system exceeded expectations and delivered not just increased brightness but enhanced emotional clarity and creative fidelity. He stated that when paired with an HDR-capable projector, the Mirage 2.7 redefines large screen visual performance. Kamalakannan of Prime Pix observed that the combination of the Galalite Mirage 2.7 screen and the Barco LS4K HDR projector delivers exceptional HDR results, with depth of colour and contrast that adds a new level of realism readily perceived by audiences.

Advancing HDR Cinema Exhibition in India

With the successful HDR installation at Melody Theatre, Galalite Screens further strengthens its role as a key enabler of next-generation cinema presentation technologies in India. The project demonstrates how precision-engineered screen systems can effectively bridge the gap between advanced projection formats and realworld exhibition environments. As HDR projection adoption continues to expand, Galalite remains focused on developing screen solutions that function as high-performance visual platforms rather than passive surfaces, supporting the evolving demands of cinematic storytelling and exhibition excellence.
