Omni Real Estate is a Proud Sponsor of Theatre SilCo. We believe great communities are built on more than homes — they’re built on stories, culture, and connection. That’s why we are proud to support the bold, inspiring work of Theatre SilCo! Omni Real Estate is locally owned & operated with 40 years of Mountain Real Estate Experience in Summit, Grand, Lake and Park Counties!

Community. For me, that’s what life is all about, especially now. At a time when the country struggles, we must come together in our local communities for support, renewal, strength, comfort, and joy. There’s no better place to do this than at Theatre SilCo.

I joined the SilCo Board in 2021, just after COVID wiped out many small businesses, restaurants, and theatres across the country. Rather than shut down, SilCo leaned in. Not only did they continue to offer theatre, but they also launched VIVO, a free afterschool dual language theatre program for working families. SilCo’s dedication to our community impressed me, and I wanted in. It’s now an honor to serve as Board President and continue to help Theatre SilCo’s work in Summit County.

Humans are wired for connection. From a mental health standpoint, social interaction reduces stress hormones and lowers anxiety. What better place to interact than at a theatre dedicated to serving its community? On a broader level of well-being, community events remind us that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves. They give us shared experiences to celebrate, grieve, or reflect together. This is what Theatre SilCo does best.

We give people a place to feel included, entertained, and connected.

Beyond the stage, SilCo boosts local businesses and keeps the community vibrant. We help drive the economy through the arts. In addition to theatre, SilCo offers a jazz series, terrific improv, fantastic speakers, cabaret, and theatre classes.

When our kids were young, they looked forward to summer break because of theatre camp. For three weeks in July, they joined others around the county and performed onstage. Not only did they have a ball, but they learned public speaking skills, built self-confidence, made friends, and discovered ways to unleash their creativity. SilCo continues to run a strong educational program every summer.

Theatre is more than a stage—it’s a cultural anchor that strengthens the identity and vitality of a community. Theatre SilCo continues to expand boundaries. In 2025, we launched Silco Women For The Arts and are currently in the process of creating dedicated groups of people who want to serve the community. By offering opportunities for creativity, self-expression, and dialogue, Theatre SilCo fosters empathy and understanding across diverse groups. Most importantly, it creates a shared sense of belonging.

I’m proud of SilCo’s vision: to be the most transformative theatre in the Rocky Mountains, and believe we are doing just that. Please continue to support us. Times are tough, and we need community engagement now more than ever. Come to a show, hear some jazz, laugh with the improv troupe, and offer a financial gift. All of it matters. It’s our community!

Thank you, and enjoy the show!

Carrie

Take flight with The Bluebird, a wordless journey of dreams and dreamers. The production is inspired by Charles Bukowski’s evocative poem “The Bluebird,” Buba Basishvili’s own immigration story, and the experiences of countless others who have left their homes in flight to other lands. Weaving pantomime, visual metaphor and physical comedy, the show transcends linguistic barriers to deliver a poignant narrative of the immigrant

How do we prepare for what we cannot predict?

We started volunteering at Theatre SilCo right when they moved into the new building in Silverthorne, our first show was Sister Act

We have always enjoyed seeing live theatre performances. It started when Rick worked with someone and he and his wife volunteered as ushers at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and they would give us tickets to some of the shows. They loved volunteering, we always thought maybe we should give it a try some day.

The best part of volunteering is of course seeing the shows, there is such a good variety of productions from comedy (our favorite) to musicals and dramas. The staff at the theatre are all so nice and enjoyable; it has been fun getting to know them. It’s nice to help the community and feel a little more connected.

We always like working the opening nights when the actors come out afterwards and we get to meet some of them!

A favorite production of ours was Rock of Ages - it was so upbeat and we couldn’t help but sing along. We also loved the Sherlock Holmes shows; the actors and the whole scenario was hilarious! We are looking forward to more Improv Comedy. We try to usher at least once for every show, as many of them we have never heard of before so it’s fun to be surprised.

We have been in Summit County for 14 years. We also volunteer for some of the festivals in Breckenridge and Keystone . We used to volunteer at Dillon Amphitheatre (love live performances) and events at Copper mountain.

VOLUNTEER WITH US
