You can now fly from Vancouver to Delhi any day of the week Non-stop flights between Vancouver and Delhi, India, are set to ramp by the end of the month. Air India, which is currently the only carrier offering flights between India and Vancouver, announced that the expansion would start at the end of the month. Currently, only three flights between YVR and DEL are available a week, but will soon be offered every single day starting August 31. The company says it was able to make the change due to the return of the Boeing 777300 ER to its fleet which was grounded during the COVID-19 pandemic. Drug dealer gunned down in back of cab in Surrey parking lot The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has identified the victim of the latest shooting in Surrey where a taxi driver was also hit. David Chavez-Jara, 30, of Surrey was shot and killed while a passenger in a taxi in the 14800 block of 108 Avenue around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, investigators said. He died at the scene. The taxi driver, meanwhile, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Chavez-Jara was well known to police and was recently convicted of possession for the purpose of trafficking, police said. “Investigators believe Mr. Chavez-Jara was the target of this senseless act,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said in a release on Wednesday. “IHIT is committed to working with our law enforcement partners as well as partners in the community to find those responsible and hold them accountable before they can hurt others.” Resident Leah Sidora told Global News the busy shopping complex is where she does her grocery shopping and other tasks. “(It’s) too close to home,” she said. The condition of the taxi driver on Wednesday was not known.

More Canadians report strong attachment to their language than to Canada: poll A new survey finds more Canadians report strong attachment to their primary language than to other markers of identity, including the country they call home. The survey, which was conducted by Leger for the Association for Canadian Studies, found 88 per cent of respondents reported a strong sense of attachment to their primary language, whereas 85 per cent reported the same for Canada.
