India to host G20 Summit in Sept 2023 in New Delhi India will host the G-20 leaders’ summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10 in 2023 under its Presidency, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced Tuesday. India will assume the Presidency of the G20 for one year from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023, and is expected to host over 200 meetings across the country, beginning in
December this year. India, as G20 Presidency, will be inviting Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and UAE as Guest countries, said the MEA. While India’s G20 priorities are in the process of being firmed up, the MEA statement said: “Ongoing conversations…

BC announces $1.9M in extreme heat funding for 36 communities across province The province awarded $1.9 million on Wednesday to 36 communities across B.C. that are preparing for future extreme heat emergencies. In a press release, the province said funding from the Community
Emergency Preparedness Fund will help communities implement extreme heat projects and strategies, such as extreme heat risk mapping, risk assessments, extreme heat response plans and climate adaptation planning.
Hindu temple in Toronto defaced with anti-India graffiti by ‘Canadian Khalistani Extremists’ An MP in Canada has blamed ‘Canadian Khalistani extremists’ for a Hindu temple in Toronto being defaced with anti-India graffiti. Inaugurated in 2007, the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir is run by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. The sanstha is a “spiritual, volunteer-driven faith” that believes in bettering society by advocating Hindu ideals of “faith, unity, and selfless service,” as per PTI.

40 Punjabi youths who block police officer’s car in Surrey to be charged and deported Forty Punjabi youths face a serious case of obstruction of justice and deportation after they surrounded and blocked a police officer’s duty, car and exit path in Surrey on Wednesday. Constable Sarbjit Sangha of Canadian Police in a media interaction said the group indulged in lawlessness when a police officer stopped and issued a traffic notice to a car driver who was roaming around Strawberry Hill Plaza 72nd Avenue playing loud music for three hours. Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives stand neck-deep in Chinese debt: Forbes Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Maldives are among the biggest debtors of China. Pakistan owes USD 77.3 billion of external debt to China, according to Forbes. Maldives’ debt to 31 per cent of its Gross National Income (GNI). Maldives’ total debt amounts to MVR 86 billion by the end of 2020, MVR 44 billion of which is external debt, reported The Island Online. Forbes, collecting data from The World Bank report as of 2020, said that 97 countries across the globe are under Chinese debt.
