Canada urged to take action against anti-India elements

Surrey police are seeking more information about a man who was arrested and charged earlier this month in an extortion-related shooting. Police got a call on April 13 around 3 p.m. reporting gunfire near a home at 94A Avenue and 127th Street. Officers found damage to a home, though no one inside at the time of the shooting was injured. SPS’s extortion investigators identified a suspicious vehicle and obtained a search warrant in the weeks following, leading to one arrest. Continued on Page 4...

A failed refugee claimant convicted in the United States in 2006 and 2009 of identity theft and forgery has won a stay of the order issued by Canadian authorities last November to deport him to Honduras. The man, identified only by the initials FGH in a recent Federal Court decision, “acted as an informant against the MS-13 gang in exchange for deferral of his removal from the United States.” The refugee “served as an informant for approximately three months until members of MS-13 allegedly became aware of his cooperation with law enforcement. Meanwhile, India also rejected charges made in the recently released Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) Public

Immigrant who pointed loaded gun in Calgary road rage incident won't face deportation An Ethiopian immigrant who pulled out a loaded handgun, pointed it at another driver and threatened to shoot during a fight that was sparked by a “minor traffic infraction” in Calgary failed to convince a judge to tailor his sentence to avoid deportation. Instead, an Alberta Court of Justice judge sentenced Thomas Kahsay Berhe to three years in prison for being in possession of a loaded Glock 19 9 mm pistol, pointing it at the other driver, threatening to shoot him, and for, eleven days later, when police finally caught up to him, being a passenger in a car that he knew contained a loaded .38 calibre revolver. But Justice A.J. Brown pointed out there’s not much danger of Berhe being deported to
