The B.C. government wants to seize two properties of alleged drug-trafficking boss Ravinder Singh Dhanda, who was one of the lead targets of an international crackdown on three India-linked organized crime groups earlier this month. The Director of Civil Forfeiture is going after Dhanda and his spouse Manjit Kaur Dhanda's White Rock and Surrey homes, according to a notice of claim in B.C. Supreme Court. The claim said the defendants "did not have sufficient lawful employment, income and/or legitimate business income to acquire, finance, improve, maintain, or preserve" the properties. The director alleged Dhanda and his associates "coordinated the storage, transport, smuggling and distribution of bulk quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and other controlled substances over international borders, primarily between the United States and Canada, on a weekly basis." For the first time in nearly three decades, the Seattle Seahawks are about to change ownership. The Paul G. Allen estate announced Saturday that it reached an agreement to sell the Seahawks to a group led by the Khosla family, with the selling price reportedly an NFL-record $9.612 billion. The deal is expected to be approved by NFL owners in late August, according to ESPN. Ford wants changes after man living illegally in Canada found eligible for welfare by the court Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he will change provincial regulations if needed after learning that an immigrant living illegally in Canada for decades has been ruled eligible for social assistance benefits from Ontario.
Ford’s comments came in the form of a social media post on a case reported by National Post involving a man who said he came to Canada in 1997 on a temporary work permit. Although his permit expired after four years, he has been living here ever since. In a post to X on Sunday morning, Ford wrote: “Our government will always be there to support people on hard times — but that doesn’t include people living in Canada illegally.” The man was able to support himself by working cash jobs until 2023, when he entered the homeless shelter system, he told the Ontario Social Benefits Tribunal, which heard and ruled Continued on Page 7... on his case in May.
