This Annual Report is dedicated in loving memory to the life and legacy of Gary David Goldberg, husband of Dr. Diana Meehan, Co-Founder of The Archer School for Girls, and father of Cailin Goldberg-Meehan ’01 and Shana Goldberg-Meehan. Anyone who knew Gary loved him instantly—for his humor, his lightness, his boundless generosity, for his passionate love of Diana and everything she believed in— especially her dream that was Archer. We will be forever grateful.
Dear Friends of Archer, We share the 2012-2013 Annual Report to recognize and honor our donors who have so generously and kindly contributed to the advancement of The Archer School for Girls. We are grateful for every gift, no matter the size, and know that an institution flourishes when the entire community feels responsible for its success. I am pleased to share that fundraising for both the Archer Fund and The Campaign for Archer totaled $8 million. This was made possible by the philanthropic leadership of our Board of Trustees who participated unanimously at the highest levels of giving. Likewise, we are grateful to our faculty who also participated at 100% and our parents whose participation was at 95%. We are proud of our community’s robust support. Such significant trustee, parent, and faculty participation emboldens our school and stands as a strong statement of confidence in Archer’s mission and future. We are equally grateful for support from our grandparents, alumnae, parents of alumnae, and dear friends of the School. Though only in our 18th year, Archer continues to enjoy a tremendous connection with our alumnae families through their strong support, an expression of their life-long appreciation for the intellectual skill, strength, and leadership Archer has instilled in their daughters. Archer alumnae remain well connected to Archer, with close to 90% linked via Facebook— a testament to the strength of our community. As we move forward with our Campus Preservation and Improvement Plan—the stunning vision for Archer’s future and the campus our students and faculty need and deserve—we are determined to make that vision a reality. We have made impressive progress and extend our most profound gratitude to those who have made the Campus Plan possible through their hard work and overwhelming generosity. Put simply, Archer would not be the magical place that it is without all of you and it is this simple fact that gives all of us great confidence in our plans for the future. Justin Chang
I am honored and delighted to join Archer’s Board of Trustees. I am a passionate believer in Archer’s mission and in its focus on creating a nurturing and challenging learning community. I hope to contribute to preserving and expanding the opportunities that Archer offers to its remarkable community of young women.
Justin is a Principal of Colony Capital, an international private equity and real estate investment firm. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Colony American Homes, a leading owner and manager of single family homes across the United States. Justin earned his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Yale University and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Justin has served on numerous corporate and charitable boards and currently serves on the Yale President’s Council on International Activities and the Yale Development Council. Justin and his wife, Amanda Brown, have four daughters, Alexandra ’18, Annabelle, Audrey, and Ames.

Our students enjoy experiential outdoor education programs like Fall Outing, Arrow Week (through the National Outdoor Leadership School) and Archer Abroad.

Archer Forward The Archer School for Girls is proud to announce that over $11 million has been raised for Archer Forward: Our Campus Preservation and Improvement Plan. We are equally proud to acknowledge four donors who have each pledged a million or more dollars and are among the earliest supporters of The Campaign for Archer. Architecturally, the Campus Plan provides an elegant backdrop for Archer’s historic building and expands upon the garden courtyard theme of the current campus. It will maintain the beautifully landscaped setting, including the expansive front lawn and pristine view from Sunset. With new space for innovative teaching and learning, performances, celebrations, and athletic competitions, The Archer School for Girls will provide generations of girls to come with an unparalleled foundation for a lifetime of joyful, ambitious learning and achievement.

The Archer Parent Association (APA) is one of the pillars of the Archer community. Archer is grateful to its parents for their strong commitment to community building and fundraising for the School. During the 2012-2013 school year, under the leadership of APA President, Julia Seaman (Shanti ’12 and Sara ’16), parents devoted their time, talents and resources to producing large-scale events like Career Day, the Archer Dads Ski Trip and the Archer Affair, to building the online Summer Go-to Guide. As always, fundraising was also a high priority. In total, we are pleased to report that the APA raised a total of $445,600 to support Archer’s academic and enrichment programs.
