The Stahl House (Case Study #22) Hollywood Hills, CA
THE PROPERTY
Designed by Pierre Koenig, The Stahl House was completed in 1960 and is a defining work of the Case Study program.
Key features: Perched in the Hollywood Hills, the Stahl House is characterized by its iconic steel frame and walls of glass—dissolving the line between interior and the sweeping panorama of Los Angeles below. Its open-plan layout, centered around the pool terrace, remains one of the most enduring icons of mid-century modern architecture.
THE BRAND
“My goal from the outset was to let the home’s architecture and photography lead. The challenge was balance: honoring something globally iconic while building a high-performing marketing tool. After all, we're selling it! That tension pushed the branding and architecture to be seamlessly inseparable. Every touchpoint leaned into the home's existing provenance, feeling editorial, almost archival, yet elevated for a modern luxury audience.
The branding needed to feel considered, quiet, structured, and intentional. That thinking informed everything from typography to layout systems. The use of strong, architectural type like Anton paired with Acumin created hierarchy and permanence while still feeling contemporary. Visually, the identity is pulled directly from the house itself. The custom linework illustrations became a way to distill the architecture down to its purest form, almost like blueprints, celebrating its geometry rather than competing with it.”

CRE A TIVE EXPANSION
The Agency Art House Launches in Mexico City
BY MICHELE VIDARTE
Mexico City is one of the most culturally vibrant and visually compelling cities in the world, and it’s quickly becoming a major hub for influential contemporary art. As the city’s art scene grows, so does the opportunity to integrate museum-quality work into everyday life as decoration and cultural capital with long-term value.
In partnership with The Agency Mexico City, The Agency Art House recently announced its expansion to the capital city. “The city’s culture, art, fine dining, and world-class architecture make it a magnet for investors,” says The Agency Mexico City’s Managing Partner, Ricardo Umansky. “We’re proud to be part of this city’s story and to showcase everything it has to offer.”
Leading the new chapter for The Agency Art House is celebrated gallerist Georgina Pounds (georginapounds.com), who will serve as Art Advisor for the Mexico City chapter of the exclusive service. With her far-reaching expertise in the global art market and strong network across Mexico’s leading galleries, curators, and cultural institutions, Georgina will help build a worldclass service tailored to this emerging art capital, leading all partnerships and acquisitions as well as The Agency Art House’s ongoing expansion into Latin America.
Georgina joins Los Angeles-based Art House Founder Arushi Kapoor, just named to Forbes exclusive 30 under 30 list, who brings over a decade of diverse experience and an invaluable visionary perspective. “Mexico City is one of the most important cultural capitals in the world today,” Arushi says of the burgeoning service. “This expansion
is both geographic and philosophical. Latin America, with its growing art scene, represents the future of global collecting, creativity, and cultural influence. Now, along with Georgina, we are building a platform that is deeply local, globally connected, and designed for the next generation of collectors.”
To celebrate the launch, the Art House team hosted an opening party and preview at Pounds’ gallery with over 1,000 attendees, a dynamic mix of artists, agents, collectors, clients, designers, and fashion figures.
Guests gathered to view the gallery’s featured exhibition, “Monsters Paradise: The Becoming of Her Divine Beast,” by artist Vanessa Raw. Raw’s large-scale paintings, hung throughout the historic neo-classical building, invite the study of the female figure among interpretations of nature, conveying both beauty and temptation through a dream-like lens. Along with Raw’s solo presentation, the evening showcased drawings, paintings and sculpture by twenty artists who have lived in or were influenced by Mexico over the past century.
The evening’s events featured a DJ and live musicians, with dinner and cocktails—creating an ebullient atmosphere. Hosted in February during Mexico City Art Week, the event served as both a cultural gathering and a strategic milestone, marking The Agency Art House’s formal entrance into the Mexico City market while setting the tone for the subsequent art fair, Zona Maco 2026 (zsonamaco.com). Many congratulations to The Agency Mexico City team and The Agency Art House team on a vibrant and exciting event!

DESIGN & LIFESTYLE TRENDS FOR SPRING & SUMMER 2026
01
NOUVEAU RICHE
EMBRACING DEPTH & DRAMA
Pastels and florals for spring? Think again. Trending interiors are leaning into full-bodied, highly textured luxury. The overall energy is extravagant yet unobtrusive, calling in an Old World, European sensibility. Key colors include decadent deep mulberries, dark chocolates, and mustard yellows—all replacing the sterile, cool greys of the last decade. Watch for the "color drenching" treatment, with walls, textiles, and furnishings being wrapped in the same moody tone. Warm woods like rich oak and walnut anchor this look in an organic, storied vibe.
with objects that actually mean something (funky framed photos, knick-knacks, souvenirs, family heirlooms).
We feel this shift as being a bit anti-Marie Kondo— keep what resonates, display what moves you, and let the "too much" of it all be a point of pride.
Taking cues from the Nouveau Riche trend, this movement takes it all a step further. The cultural mood right now is gritty, complex, and (we’ll say it) a little unhinged. In fashion, this mood comes through as uncouth and edgy, but always joyful. In interiors, it translates to wall-to-wall patterns, kooky decorative toe kicks, and shelves stacked
HOLLYWOOD COTTAGE AESTHETIC
As another offshoot of the Messiness Movement, this one feels like a big exhale. We see the clean girl era losing its manicured grip—and what's replacing it is something a little less done. Honesty has become its very own aesthetic approach. Slicked back buns and matching sets are giving way to air-dried hair, elevated sportswear with an understated, off-duty elegance (think the preppy looks of Princess Diana in the 90s), and looser-fitting separates that prioritize how something feels over how it photographs. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the rise of the Hollywood Cottage aesthetic—sun-drenched, springtime-ready interiors that spotlight slouchy slipcovered sofas and linen drapes that billow in the ocean breeze. It's elegant, but still totally lived-in.
THIS SEASON HAS OPINIONS
BY CAROLYN MEERS & MICHELE VIDARTE
Buckle up, because the trends demanding our attention right now are refreshingly rebellious and dead set on balancing high comfort with filter-free honesty. And make no mistake, the same desires driving our at-home aesthetics are igniting consumer behavior across fashion, wellness, and lifestyle. From enchanted forest-inspired patterns to nervous-system-soothing sanctuaries, read on to see what’s inspiring how we live, dress, and nest.
04
CUSHY AT THE CORE
COMFORT-CENTRIC INTERIORS
The drive to make home our sanctuary, the calm in any storm, is at an all-time high. We’re seeing a passion for visually and tactilely soft, organic, and cocooning furnishings and fabrics. Biomorphic forms are defining it: curved lounge chairs, rockers, and daybeds that envelop. It's no wonder the viral "cloud couch" and de Sede 600's snake-like sofa have seen a surge in interest—we want furniture that wraps around us and a home that holds us together.
06 WILDERKIND
THE FOREST COMES INDOORS
Layered over the comfort-core movement is the "Wilderkind" aesthetic—a nature-forward look blending woodland imagery, wildlife references, and soft organic textures that lands somewhere between realism and a Bambi-themed daydream. Fawn-inspired freckled fabrics, mossy greens, and bark browns set the tone, while crinkled cotton and knitted accessories add tactile depth. Paired with micro-prints layered across walls and textiles for a fully immersive effect, it transforms a room into something that feels grown and tended to rather than decorated.
Inspired by the 1920s, Neo Deco simplifies Art Deco down to its most alluring elements, namely fan arches, chevron wall treatments, and sculptural, soft-lined furniture that's comfortable and striking. Materials are meant to catch the eye—look for textured glass details, red marble, leather banquettes, and brushed chrome and brass. And the color palette contrasts deep reds and rich browns with radiant emerald greens and warm sand neutrals.
07 WELL, WELL SPACES THAT CALM
Right now, the most meaningful wellness upgrades aren’t new gym memberships or sleeker pieces of equipment. Instead, it’s dedicated spaces designed specifically to turn off the outside noise and calm your nervous system. At-home saunas, cold plunges, breathwork corners, or full-on wellness wings are spiking, not entirely as status symbols but as genuine tools for much-needed personal regulation. People want a space that reliably brings them back to center. In a world that continues to overstimulate us, access to a refuge (for body and mind) is a non-negotiable.
EVERY ICON NEEDS A BRAND
The Veneklasen House
Brentwood, CA
THE PROPERTY
Originally designed in 1951 by Kenneth Lind, with later contributions by Pierre Koenig and Josef Van der Kar. Thoughtfully reimagined by Chu-Gooding Architects (2019–2021), earning an AIA Los Angeles Honor Award. Post-and-beam construction with landscape by Mark Tessier.
Key features: Glass, walnut, quartzite, and stone throughout; a custom-framed walnut beam staircase; a large historic Eucalyptus tree; and a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.
THE BRAND
"The branding’s foundation is rooted in function, precision, and nuance. My first round drew from Swiss modernist and Nordic influences—strict alignment, grid-based spacing, clean letterforms. The second round kept what worked and trimmed the rest to find true simplicity.
The wordmark has small designed moments that nod to architecture and structure, with careful kerning and refined optical alignment throughout. I kept large imagery and open white space to prioritize the photography, and while the palette landed neutral, I pulled in a soft warm edge to the browns and creams to keep a sliver of that original idea present."

The David Lynch Compound Los Angeles, CA
THE PROPERTY
First designed in 1963 by Lloyd Wright (son of Frank Lloyd Wright), with a guesthouse and pool by Eric Lloyd Wright. The 2.3-acre compound comprises five structures, including the "Lost Highway House"—used in Lynch's 1997 film—plus The Grey House & Man Camp, The Crow's Nest, and The Art Loft. Features an industry screening room and workshop.
Key features: An eccentric multi-structure compound with iconic provenance.
THE BRAND
"I felt that the property’s logo needed to reflect the distinctive architecture and visual identity of the structures themselves. I drew inspiration from the tall, geometric forms found throughout the property and the repeating patterns in the surrounding landscape. I also looked to Lynch's filmography and visual language to capture the subtle surrealism and offbeat character that defines his aesthetic.
The palette and typography were chosen to reflect the bold geometry and elegance of the property—striking but simple, with plenty of white space so the photography could really take center stage."

Over the Edge
Steamboat Springs, CO
THE PROPERTY
Ski-in/ski-out mountain property sitting directly on the mountain with direct access to hiking and biking trails.
Key features: Designed around gathering, the estate is intimate yet expansive, light-filled, and timeless.
THE BRAND
"I started by looking at the landscape and how the home sits directly on the ski mountain. The surrounding ridgelines, ski runs, and sweeping slopes inspired the structure of the mark—a small icon that subtly suggests both the edge of a peak and the feeling of looking out over the valley.
The palette was pulled from the setting: cool sky blues and snowy whites for the bright alpine light, with a warm orange accent nodding to sunset on the peaks and the warmth of après-ski moments. The goal was an identity that feels both adventurous and refined."
