The goal of the in-service training was to prepare and improve teachers while also making them aware of the importance of teaching.

SVNHS has thrived over the years in order to promote progressive education that ensures exclusivity wellcollaborating with the community to address learning gaps and broaden the horizon to achieve higher goals. Learning facilities in schools have enabled staff and teachers to collaborate to create a conducive and child-friendly environment that allows students to have fun while learning.

Furthermore, three (3) schools chose not to participate in the regional validation, four (4) schools failed to maintain the required KPIs, ten (10) schools failed to maintain the Advanced Level of Practice, and ninety-seven (97) schools successfully maintained their Practices, including SVNHS.

The program aimed to spread essential knowledge of laws and policies on CPP in our country that needs to be followed especially for young people, and the following consequences if it’s violated.

“Child Protection Policy protects students in all aspects of harassment, verbal or non- verbal.”, PLT Isit stated.

Furthermore, the speaker also talked about the negative

effects of using cigarettes, drugs, marijuana, and too much alcohol in-take

Although there is a short-term positive effect of this such as mental alertness, stress reliever, and suppressing hunger, the common long-term negative effects of using these and needed to avoid are weak immune system, increased blood pressure heart rate, and lung disorders.

“People experiencing social fright, peer pressure, influence from friends, heartbreaks, and family problems, are tend to be the ones who are easy targets in tempting to indulge on this matter such as drug addiction and commit indecent crimes.”, he added.

The symposium ended with the advice of the police officers to the students and a reminder that CPP protects the under age so beware and be careful of the negative influences in our surroundings.

EXERCISING OUR FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

House Bill No. 3237, otherwise known as “An Act to Strengthen the Right of Citizens to Information held by the government”.

What’s there to be known but we can’t even see? To express our words and thoughts is essential to be acknowledged and heard by the higher-ups sitting on bigger chairs.

Conversely, the Freedom of Information Bill allows citizens to request any information about government transactions and operations, provided that it should not put into private matters of national security in jeopardy. This is knnown as the Abad Field House Bill No. 3237,

Columns of Patriotism

As the famous Filipino hero once said, Dr. Jose Rizal, “Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan.” We, the youth of today, will make or break our beloved land.

For years, our ancestors gave their blood, sweat, and tears for our country, and in those years also had their salad days which I hope are identical to the youth of today, full of innocence and burning passion.

My observations in our community make me worry about the future of our nation. Although there are still kids out there with dreams and hopes for our country, I cannot deny that most of what we see are kids who are too liberated by themselves. But amidst all these issues, we, youth, must still strive to be different from the negative stigma that floats around the idea of what youth are today. So, we should ask ourselves, how do we become young patriots? The first column is cooperation. Cooperation helps us to understand

dragging you down.

otherwise known as “An Act to Strengthen the Right of Citizens to Information held by the government”.

Knowing that information is explicit knowledge that can be obtained by investigation, observation, studies, and even instructions, this information provides factual data accordingly with numerical and written farms that can be collected through a raw process or with the use of media.

Regardless of the fact that information secured by the government would mean important matters not even accessible by a citizen, it shouldn’t be kept hidden as this information can be given insights and movements that could soothe the situation as plausibly as it seems.

Nevertheless, the bill contradicts the way how

the government kept information in a manner where restrictions are strong, making this information hard to access. This opens the eyes and minds of people in realizing that the truth will no longer be obsolete and will speak up for the mindful thoughts of the people.

The mind is the greatest asset to success. Freedom is a way of freely knowing the unknown.

“Success” is guaranteed to achieve greatness when both the mind and its freedom take place together.

What’s there we really need to know? Well, our mind seeks the unknown. We need to be free of what we can think of without restricting the eyed information.

Freeing the mind is something we can reasonably think of.

Also, respect the things that we have. Re spect for our own products, ancestors, and history. It is important that we keep in mind that what we have today is the result of our ancestor’s handwork. The handicrafts, cultures, sacrifices, and most importantly, Liberty and freedom. Let us respect the people and heroes of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

We are the foundation of our country, and if ever one of the columns collapses, then the whole country also collapses

the people we are working with. Cooperation is what makes a great team to work and serve our country. It helps us get the job done. Being an introvert is not an excuse for the choices you have chosen and so am I, an introvert. Even though, we are still able to work and collaborate with others. I believe it’s a matter of spirit, passion, and love for what you do. The second is to remain respectful and humble. Although a lot of kids have that “attitude”, it is important to remember that there will be no progress if we all race for the highest pride. The actions we do are for the better future of our country and the next incoming generations, not for that classmate of yours who keeps on

Lastly, we should passion for the things we do for our own land. The work we do for our country shouldn’t be a kid around, of course. Yet if we take it too seriously, we will feel the weight of it on our shoulders, pushing us down, then finally, drowning in disappointment.

United we stand divided we fall- with one another we can take down problems and challenges we encounter. We are the foundation of our country, and if ever one of the columns collapses, then the whole country also collapses. We are the columns of patriotism with hopes and dreams; we continue to surpass the gen eration’s battles.

Sometimes we don’t realize it, but we let social media dictate what we do.

The trends bend the norms to a point that we lose our novelty, innovativeness, and ingenuity, and how tragic that is.

A line from the Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, said, “It’s free real estate,” and that is exactly what social media is. People do what they want in that place and it is a big factor in the influences of social media on the people. This is what happens when we have too much freedom and it’s very worrying.

One example of where social medi influences its audience is when they imtitate challenges that put

powder in under 60 seconds without having to drink anything.

Don’t you know that cinnamon powder contains a substance that is not easily dissolved, and once it reaches the lungs it will stay there for a long time which can lead to chronic inflammation and scarring of the lungs. Aside from that, the cinnamon can also clog your airways especially if the powder forms into a clump.

It’s crazy how what everyone thought was a fun game is actually dangerous. But social media tries to sugarcoat it anyway, for the views, fame, and money, I believe. That’s an effect of the SocMed; greediness.

Another example is blind fanaticism and bandwagonning. I recall the Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge which is inspired by the full lips of social media elite.

Danger

This challenge needs a bottle or anything that can act as a suction that fits your lips, then you put it on your lips. The suction makes your lips swollen and plump, achieving the same volume in the lips. While it does give you the satisfaction of imitating her lips, the affects includes severe bruising, swelling, discoloration, and long term nerve damage.

Moreover, it takes a toll on someone’s self-esteem as this challenge implies that your natural lips are considered plain, unattractive, and in extreme cases, ugly.

Worst of all is misinformation affecting uniformed or easily persuaded netizens. A good example was when Rappler stereotyped Duterte as a “Dictator.” These social media posts influence and shape the mindsets of online consumers, leading to a divisive Filipino opinion on issues that requires unity.

It is of my strong opinion that social media fuels danger as its supersedes the critical thinking of Filipinos and encourages risky and divisive behaviours. When blind fanaticism and misinformation is deep rooted in social media, it is our responsibility to actively advocate against them.

As a lot of wise men say, communication is the key to a great relationship. By then, what will happen if the relationship between a teacher and his class becomes limited?

According to the DepEd Order no.49 released on November 15, 2022, teachers and students are not allowed to have a friendly-relationships outside the school, which includes social media

I believe it is not a negative thing when you actually think about it. With a relationship happening outside the school, numerous questionable things can occur. The most common issue with a friendly teacher-student relationship is favoritism. Although some remain honest with work, sometimes infatuation prevails, and it becomes the death of duty. It is somehow unfair to the students who work hard for the things they want to achieve. Another issue with a teacher-student relationship is that there would be comfortability with each other. When we are comfortable with someone, they could take advantage of that, you will be very unlucky if you trust someone who has no good intentions. What usually happens with the comfortability of someone’s presence can lead to a worse scenario of molestation or sexual harassment. I think,

Setting professional boundaries

as a woman in my time, that is the greatest, unfortunate thing that can happen to me.

I can recall an incident from Tacloban City where a student stabbed his teacher while they are drinking together with a mutual friend. It was such a tragedy for things to end up like that. It was unfortunate that I think there should be a boundary and setting professional limitations between teachers and students.

However, a good relationship between teachers and students is essential for learning. Students must feel free to communicate with their teachers in terms of their daily tasks and activities in school. Building a connection among the students is crucial to learning yet establishing authority and bound with professionalism must be practiced and strictly observed.

Setting boundaries and limitations don’t mean we no longer have the freedom to express our queries and concerns to our teachers. It is only a way of disciplining and controlling our actions so that we don’t hurdle any uncanny uncertainties that may lead us into trouble.

Bouncy Moods: Menstrual Health Management Awareness

Girls have mood swings especially when it’s their period. We jump from being happy to mad, from hungry to sleepy, and from tired to grumpy. We are leaping from one mood to another, or as we call it mood swings.

***

Do you notice that one known couple in your classroom where on the past few days they seem to be doing just fine and then BOOM they suddenly became professional mimes? All gestures and eye contact and that. And then the next day they’re all smiles and lovey-dovey? Well, it could be that the girl is in her red days and all she sees is red.

If you got a man who doesn’t

understand how menstruation works, then it will be a wild ride for both of you. But if you got yourself a man, or even better, a woman, who understands you, then they will know that all you need is a little loving. We all need a little loving sometimes.

***

One time, in the previous school that I attended, my classmate experienced extreme dysmenorrhea. She was in so much pain that she had to go home. We tried to tend to her needs but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. We didn’t have a menstrual discomfort area at that time so she can only sit on her desk and lay her head on the table. When she can no longer take it, she went home. We, females, need assistance

and help. We also need your understanding in times when we also do not understand ourselves.

***

Lately, things have been really hectic for both students and the school personnel; the school works, activities, events, and so much more. Another factor that affects us is our lives outside the school.

When we talk about all these challenges, I think, what about women? What about the women who discharge blood, feel pain in their whole body as if they’re sleeping in a bed of thorns, and have bouncy moods for a week every month? That is where the menstrual discomfort area takes place.

Thus, it is important to improve Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Services in schools to ensure that menstruation will not be a hindrance in learning

These words were officially stated by DepEd in their WinS Monitoring Results on the school year 2019-2020. This monitoring was conducted in regard to the National WinS Policy.

See how hard menstruation can be that DepEd sees it as an obstacle in learning? Menstruation is not a joke. It is basically part of the process of reproduction in humans. That is why we must help make and maintain the menstrual discomfort area neat and clean whenever the girls experience extreme pain or discomfort.

***

We should all take a break sometimes, and a simple discomfort area will do. It is enough for me and my fellow ovaries, and it is greatly appreciated because women aren’t robots. No one is. Let us help each other so that no woman stumbles down when she has a bouncy mood.

Manage

save human race

Everyday people complain about the large amount of trash that are thrown everywhere. This old and prolonging environmental issue affects and threatens the very existence of human kind.

Many people have normalize throwing garbage everywhere regardless of its results. Since then, the government has been issuing programs to be conducted nationwide to help us dispose our wastes; such is the Solid Waste Management Program.

Solid waste management helps us complete the process of collecting, treating and disposing solid wastes. It is due to the fact that our population is increasing, that our waste are increasing as well. As a result it affects many people especially those who live near slums that is very close to disposal sites.

On January 26, 2001 the Government of the Philippines on initiated this program. Republic Act No. 9003 “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000” was implemented. Due to the enrich number of waste in our country, the government strongly aims to address this growing problem in every cities and municipalities in the Philippines.

Republic Act No. 9003 “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000”

RA 9003 was first signed by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. It is sub-divided into 66 sections and one of them is commonly known as

the DENR. Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is responsible in keeping our environment clean and protect animals and their habitats. Eventually, schools are initiating and implementing this act as well by conducting programs in each schools for a better learning environment.

San Vicente National High School (SVNHS) in Butuan City was one of the chosen schools where City Environment and Natural Resources Officers (CENRO) conducted an Information Drive Program on solid waste management. CENRO continuously initiates programs in various schools to strongly implement and monitor solid waste management in order for our environment to safer, clean and conducive. They discussed about different types of pollution, 5R’s, MRF, ways of composting, and the importance, necessity, and need to dispose our wastes properly.

The one day orientation happened last January 26, 2023, a one day orientation was held at SHS Science Laboratory which participated by all class mayors in sections across all grade levels. In addition, all of the SSG (Supreme Students Government) Officers and BSP (Boy Scouts of the Philippine) Members were present as well. The presence of the school’s BSP coordinator, Mrs. Sabina D. Balbuena was also present during the orientation.

“The lecture went well and we’re encouraged by the lecture speaker to put four different types of trash bin

and to segregate our waste properly at the end of the classes every afternoon.” Arabelle Grace Catot from Grade 9 - Avogadro stated. Moreover, after the lecture, all of the representatives who attended during that time encouraged their entire class to segregate trash. Information about solid waste management was disseminated by Class Mayors who attended the orientation, thus awareness and daily inspection where made known to every student. They were also taught that segregating is important and should be made a habit for it helps to reduce the volume of garbage and increase the life span of the sanitary landfill. In addition, Executive Order 191 states that “strictly implement waste segregation and reduction at source” was introduced.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 191 : “Strictly implement waste segregation and reduction at source”

Failure to segregate our garbage, poor waste management, and irresponsible

waste disposal will cause a big impact on human health and the environment. An individual might develop diseases such as asthma, birth defects, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and many others that can reduce the life span of a human being.

But what are the ways to fix this issue? It starts with disciplining ourselves and be responsible with our waste. We can also use the 5R’s Principle to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, and Repair. It is essential for us to do our part when it comes to managing our waste. The sad truth is people rely on garbage collectors too much. They’ll think that it is fine for them to throw their trash everywhere and won’t even participate in segregating waste; which is unfair for those people who want a healthier environment and is doing their best to reduce wastes.

Some of us might think “why is it really important to manage our waste?” Managing waste can help us decrease the amount of

the water for disposal, saves space in landfills, and conserves natural resources. Thus, let us take part of this action for the sake of the next generation to be able to breathe fresh air in a cleaner and safer place.

To see our old lavish home become an abominable planet is excruciating. Let us remember that planet earth is our home. As an ant works together to make a colony, we can make a difference if we work together every day. Solid waste management will become a big step for us to prepare for a much brighter future.

Many of us usually complain and blame one another for an unhealthy environment, but let us take part in disposing our waste for the common good of every individual, every family, and every community. When each of us take part by making this happen, day by day our future’s destiny will slowly takes form. Therefore, the future of the world lies in our hands, and to make this happen we should save our environment to save our future.

LITERACY CRISIS: PREVALENT BUT CURABLE

Addressing the learning crisis to level up the equality and proficiency is very urgent for every learners to strengthen the literacy compound. Literacy should be strengthened and not ignored. Education in the Philippines has been facing a lot of complication such in reading, writing, and understanding. In addition, 5 out 10 Filipino learners have problem when it comes to reading comprehension. In year 2018,the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) reported that “The Philippines scored lowest in reading out of 79 countries in Asia.” The DepEd signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with World Vision Development Foundation (WVDF) as its program co-lead convener to establish “Brigada Pagbasa.” during Brigada Eskwela which happens before the opening of another school year. They initiated the “Brigada Pagbasa” together with the “Brigada Eskwela” as an offshoot through its External Partnership Service.

the 2 years pandemic.

“The event lasted 15 days in SVNHS, with the sup port of the Barangay San Vicente who is a literacy awardee for the past years and still active in advo cating literacy among the learners here in San Vi cente. I am also glad that the SK chairperson Mart Juniel Alfa ro was the one who initi ated and facilitated the activity on the opening of the Brigada Pagbasa in SVNHS. Overall, the program was a success because after 15 days, most of the students were able to get certificate as well as the teacher volunteers.” Anna-May Salgado, the school’s reading coordinator expressed.

San Vicente National High School (SVNHS) was able to conduct a 15 day program on “Brigada Pagbasa.” on August 1-15, 2022. To fully support th the program, Barangay San Vicente Local Government unit initiated the said activity in partnership with the Principal an Reading Coordinator of the school.” This kind of program really helped the learners from SVNHS to bridge the educational gap during the pandemic until now. The school conducted group screening test to identified the struggling readers which belong to frustration readers across Grade 7 to 11. This program was first lauched during “Brigada Eskwela” 2022. It aims to remediate the students who are categorized as a frustration readers due to

Inclusivity The “FAIR-SQUARE” LEARNING

Fortunately, even though Filipino learners are now in the middle of crisis especially during pandemic, downfalls should not be in the way on the road to succeed. There’s still so many

chances to help the society stand for the running high level of reading literacy.

The more we read, the more we’ll perceive our future, the more it will become real. Learners can also help themselves to achieve reading literacy and to be independent learners by activating their reading comprehension. If learners are more independent readers, the ignorance can be shattered into pieces. Facing this crisis might wear us out, but remember that if there is no pain, there is no gain. We may struggle day-by-day to improve and awaken ourselves to be more literate, but all of these will be worth it at the end of the day for it forms a brighter future ahead of us.

Just like the sides of a square, we are all equal. No one is above and no one is below. Everyone has a place in this world.

Inclusive is the state of being included or being made a part of something. It’s when allot of people are invited to be a part of a group. Inclusive is about honoring diversity, not ignoring it.

In RA 11650, the Department of Education’s inclusive policy, all schools whether public or private, shall ensure equitable access to quality education for every learner. Giving all students equal access to every basic educational needs regardless of their color, race, size, shape, ability and disability. “The policy of inclusion is hereby instituted in all early and basic educational schools, public or private”, it reads.

Teachers play a huge role in giving students an inclusive education.

They work together to provide differently-abled races with appropriate support to encourage their genuine and valued participation, treating each of them fairly and equally. To embrace their human diversity at the ground level of a country’s educational system.

This means that different and diverse students

can learn side by side in the same classroom. It can enhance the student’s engagement and motivations, improves innovation and enhances leadership skills and abilities, therefore creating a sense of belonging.

In San Vicente National High School, students with special needs are being given equal opportunities and being treated with fairness just like the other regular students around the campus. Witnessing a couple of scenarios in which these students are being valued and respected by my teachers, staff and fellow students gave me the idea that SVNHS provides a good learning environment for differently-abled students.

But even though San Vicente National High School strongly implements inclusive learning, there are still some cases where differently-abled students are being bullied. “Tawgon ko nilag “monggoloid”, “abnormal”, unya bira-birahon nila akong buhok... Isahay magdumog-dumog sila nako.” A grade 10 student who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder stated. The insensitive remarks of her classmates greatly affected her negatively. “Na-depress ko, naghilak ko, lonely kaayo ko, sad, na failed nako akong exams tungod nila”, she added. It’s disturbing how some people lack a sense of empathy despite already knowing that she has disability. “Some other stu-

dents, dapat tana respituhon nato, dili nato sila i-bully”, a reminder she left to us. Here, we can say that there is still a need to educate the students about this and it should be strengthened and embraced by everyone inside the school.

Another student from Grade 8, however, who apparently has difficulty in walking straight has a different experience. “Ang treatment sa akong mga classmate kay same ra sa ilaha, na mura ko’g walay kulang”, he stated. Even though he experienced such difficulties, he still accepted his reality and pursued his studies. “Fight lang, bahalag ingon ani ang kahimtang, padayun lang”, he emphasized. He is an inspiration for us to continue striving for my though it’s hard at times with all the pressures and responsibilities as a student. Coming from him we could challenge ourselves, to overcome difficulties.

To make a difference, let’s stand up for them. We can lessen their silent suffering from discrimination, bullying and stereotyping. Let us step out of our bubbles and lend a hand to them, to help them rise from the ground. We can change their point of view about life and we can unravel a better side of our world, and show them that we are one and we live as one. We all stand on the same level. We are all equal. We are all human.

A CALL and

Ignorance leads to misinformation. Misinformation leads to conflict. Conflict eventually results in chaos.

False stories or fake news are news and sto fabricated and have no verifiable facts. There are many people who make false stories and news, but here in the Philippines we commonly identify them as “Marites”, a slang which came from the catch phrase, “Mare, anong latest?” commonly used by gossip-mongers.

Fake news is everywhere nowa days, even sugarcoating a story can now be called fake news for it leads others to know false information. But there are also propagandas which spreads fake news that is being tracked by the government.

earning is not just inside the four corners of a classroom.

In a memorandum that DepEd dropped last September 15, 2022. The

public and private schools shall be subjected to the no disruption of classes

policy stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, series of 2005 title instituting measures to increase engaged time-on-task and ensure compliance. Therewith, the policy on off-campus activities.

In SVNHS (San Vicente National High School), the teachers and school staffs believe that everyone has the right to be informed. They disseminate information fast and clearly, especially for the learner’s parents. That is why they avoid spreading rumors themselves and promote proper information dissemination instead.

San Vicente National High School initiates “Infoblast,” which made the school distinct because SVNHS is the only one that has this featured online-based platform.

Info Blast helps you have an easy and convenient way of corresponding with others by sending broadcasts, providing secure information and making content available for download, making these all possible with an easy interface and an available help desk feature.

According to the Philippines Vice President and Department of Education Secretary Sarah Zimmerman Duterte, the purpose of it is to patch up the necessary academic skills that the students have to acquire in the 2 years of no face-to-face classes. Programs are now being limited and there will be an insertion of activities that are not related to academics. Students are now being held inside the four corners of their classroom, reading, writing, listening, and doing things over and over every day. Setting aside the fact that students can also learn while doing activities, learning programs, and competitions outside.

It is very helpful nowadays because it helps you connect with your clients or community members.

It was invented for over 30 years ago, but it was implemented here in the SVNHS last June 11, 2021. It is used by the school’s P.I.O (Public Information Officer) Sir Cyd Batalon. Sir Cyd uses this feature in the school’s fb page (San Vicente National High School 304769) for faster and clear information to be dispersed.

“Info Blast provides relevant information that can’t be acquired by students who have no clue. I highly encourage the Info Blast for students to know whether there is a program or an event for it gives frequent updates fast and clear. In addition, it influences students to bring what is required and what is prohibited inside the school.” Mark Tumulak Gerondio, a Grade 12 student stated.

“I am very thankful that I received updates from Info Blast for it is very helpful for a student to know important information about the school especially when their immediate announcements.” Angel Lyca Osigan, a Grade 9 student remarked.

All of this misinformation can lead to many casualties in life. For instance, a woman is called over her phone and was told that her parents got in an accident and she had to go at some place but when she arrived, she was fooled and puts her life in danger instead.

In this world full of fake news and pretensions, ignorance won’t help us solve this issue but the truth will. Let’s avoid misinformation for it’ll eventually lead us to our own destruction. Seek the truth, abide by the truth, and live with the truth.

But despite the good intentions of DepEd’s memorandum, students felt boxed and limited. “It is boring, it’s unfortunate to think that there are a lot of activities that could give us memorable experiences, but sadly it was all canceled”. A grade 10 student stated in Visayan. The majority of students in SVNHS complained about the school’s lack of events and programs. Students kept on whining about how school is being too bland and their high school life is just being a regular day. “It was better before since San Vicente has tons of activities and students got to enjoy their high school life, unlike now”. An SVNHS alumni stated in Visayan. Furthermore, not all students have the same level of academic abilities, there are learners who excel in extra-curricular activities. And the No disruption of Classes Policy halted opportunities for students to perform or join various outdoor activities. It shuts the door to discoveries of new skills and talent.

Last February 26, 2023, San Vicente National High School celebrated arts month, where a lot of students were given an opportunity to showcase their talents in dancing, acting, and crafting. People were flabbergasted at how SVNHS held such an event for students. It was mesmerizing to witness that eventful day and see the outcome of students’ hard work and efforts come to light.

Through this, students like me learned leadership, cooperation, and persistence. It’ll prove to us that not all things that we have to learn are written inside a book, but are learned by experience. That learning can be done outside the narrow-spaced box - our classroom.

Some students agree with the idea of DepEd’s memorandum. “It was good! Actually, it benefits the students a lot, it helps the students focus on their academic responsibility”, A grade 9 student stated in Visayan. It can help the learners access their studies without any distraction, they can also develop another skill and appreciate the importance of studies. It might sound boring but it can entertain you as time goes by.

In conclusion, learning is not all about a student’s academic capability, but also they should learn and grow holistically.

DIGITAL ART: A DOOR TO SELF-EXPRESSION

An average student spends most of his time playing on gadgets in a day, while others are working on a new and improve technology that is utilized to represent arts using devices such as computers, iPads, and phones.

A trace, a splash of color, and a sketch - this can create a beautiful art by using a special pen called stylus. It has been popular for over a year now and using it might improve your artistic skills and save some of your time.

When computer engineers were able to device a painting tool, they named it Digital art,. It can create various drawings, animations, digital paintings, and videos by using just the stylus pen in which every artist use for shading, coloring, and sketching.

Furthermore Digital art has been considered to be a more efficient and helpful type of art. It can inspire many people and can emphasize the beauty of art as well as the artist emotions

On 1967, Kenneth Knowlton, an American computer, artist, graphics, and mosaicist, and Leon Harmon, a researcher in mental processing who works at a bell telephone laboratory created the most realistic and

first ever design in history. They called it “computer nude” to show the accuracy of the pictures of the women’s shot.

An art enthusias myself will find it very interesting, because shading adds more lighting on the drawing, layering it helps you plan out every section of your drawing separately. Most importantly adding little and noticeable details can really represent the art that is showed. But for beginners it’s not a piece of cake to use Digital art. But there are plenty of ways that might help them improve, like drawing on a daily basis, and tracing can improve their skills day by day. Plus there are also different apps for beginners to use. For instance you could use the app called ‘Sketchbook’. It is an app that allows you to sketch and paint with the feel and freedom of drawing on a paper. The app called Pixel art also allows you to layer out your sketches separately and brush your drawings neatly. Adobe

Photoshop is a great app as well. It is a go-to-tool for aspiring students and professionals. It is used to create edits on a picture and many more.

and culture of the Philippines.

Moreover this is really helpful and useful for every students to develop fine motor skills and eye coordination. Which is why digital art is not only inspirational, but can also be an alternative avenue of expression for people who have poor traditional eyesight.

ARTISTIC. Publication Material made for the promotion and advocacy of the National Arts Month Celebration. (CBatalon)

On the whole month of February 2023 there was an art event going around at San Vicente National High School. There were many beautiful paintings, and there were also many students painting and sketching on illustration board. Everyone is capable of creating a masterpiece, every art presented on the walls was very surprising because every single one looked like the creators put their heart and soul which really represented the tradition

Digital art is also beneficial for everyone, because when you ran out of money to spend, taking digital art as a career offers many options such as 2D and 3D graphic artist, animators, visual effect designer, film production manager, etc. Developing it as a hobby may also improve your artistic skills.

Digital art also allows us to express ourselves.

Through that sensation we communicate by drawing on our unique impression and emotions, thoughts and experiences.

It’s like seeing a different view of the world through their eyes. And when you create your own art, you are letting the world see through yours.

Some artists feel the urge to vent out their frustration and feelings through art. Some artist also have the capability to turn messages into art to spread awareness

or to illustrate what they want to say.

Not only is Digital art inspirational, but it is also easy to make corrections if ever we make mistakes on the sketch, and you no longer need to pay for art supplies. It can also help you develop self-expression, helps you relieve stress, and helps you to be more creative and interactive with others.

Whenever you feel overwhelm and emotionally drained drawing can to be the mouth to express unspoken words, because it allows you to emote your sense of empathy. It can also serve you as therapy if ever you feel depress.

That is why people tend to treasure and value digital art. And the main reason why people rely on it so much, to guide them and comfort them whenever they feel like nothing or no one is there to get themselves motivated again.

This helps to expand the use of technology by letting people know the existence of digital art, the use of it and the benefits you can get from it.

In general, discovering something new like digital art may influence you into trying out more technologies. It is also helpful for our daily lives to empower others social interaction. If you live in isolation just know that you can always express yourself through art. Without art we wouldn’t have been able to see the beauty in things. 10 PAGE

Junk food has been growing in popularity with children at an alarming rate, weakening an adolescent’s immune system along the way.

Junk food, are foods or drinks with low nutritional value making them bad for a child’s health, this is according to Southgate medical on the bad effects of eating junk food. This is alarming because in Australia, a country whose population happens to be similar to ours in the Philippines, 35% of adult’s daily energy intake and 41% of children’s daily energy intake comes from junk food, it is alarming because a large number of Australia’s population take their daily nutrition from junk food. While occasional consumption of junk food won’t hurt much, eating junk food on a regular basis

In 2021 study of digital food marketing in the Philippines, found that the majority of social media posts for marketing from the country’s top 20 most popular food and beverage brands were deemed unhealthy for children. These are food and drink items that have high levels of sugar and salt based on the W.H.O (World Health Organization) nutrient profiling criteria, which restricts the advertising of such products to minors.

The health risks are overshadowed by the overall appeal of the advertisements. Which attracts children with a joyful vibe, sense of happiness, bright colors, and use of celebrities or influencers, as well as by showing moments with family and friends. This along with its taste it’s no

wonder that children ignore the risk.

Another problem is a marketing strategy called ‘health-washing’ some food and drinks are packaged as having great sources of vitamins or are made with natural ingredients, giving a faulty sense if benefits. Others are promoted using illustrations of physical activities with kids running and playing. It can influence the buyer’s perception of the product.

The irony is that actual exercise among children and teens is lacking - and together with unhealthy eating habits it is a worrying combination. For parents and caregivers, it doesn’t help that these processed food beverages are affordable, available, and accessible. It also doesn’t help that food stands outside

No Plastic is Fantastic

Our planet is suffocating on plastics every day.

It is time we should change the way we produce, consume, and dispose plastics.

Plastic is a major threat to human lives, ani-

mals and the ocean. It creates a huge impact in the world and release hazardous and poisonous air which can harm every living being on earth.

Plastic bags are non-biodegradable objects that take several years to decompose. Which is why it should be banned. Plastics can also change many habitats and natural processes, reducing ecosystems ability

to adapt to climate change. At San Vicente National High School, different and several plastics are now banned inside the school. Meanwhile students are doing their best to sneak in foods wrapped in plastic packs or cellophanes, putting plastic cups and bags inside their backpacks so that the school guard would fail to notice. Now many plastics are being thrown away inside the campus again.

the school campus promote junk food to students.

Controlled eating of junk foods will not severely affect you but regular consumption of it will.

Unlike outside San Vicente National High School campus, the food in the canteen follows the Grow, Glow, Go food pyramid. But even with the efforts of SVNHS they still cannot influence the household of the student which is why encouraging the family of the student is also important in the reduction of consumption of junk food.

Creating recipes that include fruits and vegetables can be used as a strategy

SVNHS announced the ‘Prohibition of the use of plastic inside the school campus’ in the morning of March 6, 2023 after the Flag Ceremony. In addition, Information Drive was conducted to encourage students to take part and volunteer on helping eradicate plastic waste. Teachers and visitors were also roaming around inside the classrooms to check and see if the students were maintaining their classrooms clean. It’s a major problem for both humans and animals, and the only way to prevent this pollution is to

for lowering the eating and drinking of junk food.

The world is presently facing an obesity epidemic, which put us at risk for chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes. That is why strong practices of exercise and proper diet are the driving force to reduce the junk food intake. Be a part of something that will change the life that you’ll live in the future. Eating too much junk food will only affect you and those around you. Change the future for which you will have.

Your choice will shape your destiny, and your destiny will depend on the path you take. Create the future, conquer the present. Live to see a better tomorrow, and eat healthier.

stop using more and more plastics and bringing our own containers, echo bags, jars, Tupperware and etc. to store our foods. Plastics should be banned on every places to prevent pollutions and preserve human kind. If we will not enforce this, tragedies might have happen which we will later regret. Remember -

only humans create waste which nature cannot digest.

insecure and unattractive. Hair dye has been popular for decades now, and people intend to use it to boost their confidence and self-esteem. But little did they know that it can slowly affect their hair and scalp and weakens it. Causing it to hold less of their hair color.

Hair dyeing is commonly used to change to a color regarded to be more fashionable and desirable or to cover up gray and white hair. It is also used to restore the original hair color after it has been discolored or sunbleached.

In 1907, Eguéne Schueller, the founder of L’Oréal is recognized for creating the first ever synthetic hair dye ever made. Since then, the development of synthetic dyes for hair is traced back to the 1860s. Hair salon professionals may mostly start hair dyeing by picking the chosen color, avoid mixing the colors, prep the hair and skin, and finally start applying the colors. Even when hair dyes are used correctly, they can still cause toxicity. Unfortunately, hair color damages your hair. When you dye your hair, it may irritate and inflame your neck, scalp, ears, forehead, and eyelids. Over time with repeated coloring sessions, these changes the

who used permanent hair dye regularly or every 5-8 weeks were 9% more likely to develop breast cancer than women who didn’t use it.

But on the bright side, hair dyeing is also very beneficial. It’s a beautiful color transformation for your hair, many women also noticed more shine, body, fullness, and enhanced manageability, when they color their hair. Dyeing can protect your hair from environmental hazards like pollution and wind. It also makes you feel confident when you look in the mirror and compliment yourself after dyeing your hair. But it does come with side ef -

es, cancer, and skin diseases. Various students at San Vicente National High school have been also dyeing their hair red and blonde recently to make themselves more stylish and presentable.

Back then SVNHS Back strictly implements no hair color among students, but now the school had become more considerate and lenient by allowing hair coloring on both students and teachers as a way of self-expression and

personal style. Brand new colored hair can improve your old features into something new and more alluring. However, there are also many circumstances in which it might possibly take a huge turn and damage your hair leaving it dry and looking unhealthy.

Coloring your hair is also a way to express yourself, like turning your hair red is a way to express your emotion or you simply just want to copy your favorite actor or favorite anime character’s hair color to look more like them. It is also a way to gain popularity on apps like TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter.

Dyeing one’s hair is also a coping mechanism and some may tend to dye their hair a lot to relieve stress or to gain more confidence.

Dyeing one’s hair is quite interesting. However, it might

be dangerous and not suited for others. It is fascinating to project a new ‘persona’ through the use of hair colors. But improper usage can be dangerous.

In general, hair dyeing has its pros and cons. Developing a liking for it and using it may be appealing, yet dyeing hair too much will mostly cause you some problems and irritations like rashes, loss of hair strength, and damaged hair scalp. There is nothing wrong with exploring, but there are some circumstances where you just have to wait and see. Too much hair dyeing might lose your crown of glory and may loosen your self-esteem. So, with all the trends and hairstyles that are available out there, nobody wants to walk around bald, would you?
