For over a decade, Thierry Guetta, known in the art world as Mr. Brainwash, has been at the forefront of the contemporary art scene, blending street art with pop culture. His breakthrough moment came with the critically acclaimed documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, directed by Banksy. This film traces Guettaās evolution from an obsessive documentarian of street artists to a celebrated artist in his own right.
Mr. Brainwash revolutionized the art scene with his bold and inventive style, resulting in monumental exhibitions and high-profile collaborations that have captured the attention of both critics and celebrities. His expansive practice encompasses film, celebrity culture, music, and sports, with standout projects that include designing album covers for icons like Madonna, Rick Ross, and KYGO. His work has also been featured in notable productions such as Mollyās Game, Billions, Shameless, and even within the omnipresent Kardashian empire.
Collaborations with influential brands such as Hublot, Coca-Cola, and Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee highlight Mr. Brainwashās versatile talents. His partnership with soccer legend PelĆ©, where they jointly added paint splashes to select artworks, exemplifies his collaborative ethos and creative ingenuity. Currently, Mr. Brainwash has taken over The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA, with āThe Mr. Brainwash Art Museumā popup exhibit. Through these diverse ventures, Mr. Brainwash continues to push past the boundaries of contemporary art, leaving his mark on the cultural landscape of our modern era.

The Core Fine Art is delighted to present an exclusive preview of Discovering Mr. Brainwash at the Jonathan Club, Los Angeles on September 5, 2024. This is the ļ¬rst collaboration between the art gallery and the social club.
Celebrated for his audacious blend of pop and street art, Mr. Brainwash commands a global audience and is revered by critics and celebrities alike. His meteoric rise is chronicled in the Banksy-directed documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, which showcases his years spent ļ¬lming street artist legends. As anticipation mounts for his new documentary, directed by Michael D. Ratner and produced by OBB Pictures, Mr. Brainwash is once again poised to redeļ¬ne the contemporary art scene.
Amidst the exclusive setting of the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles, Discovering Mr. Brainwash catalyzes a rich visual dialogue, considering the ways in which cultural symbols and artifacts are repurposed and reinterpreted within the currents of contemporary expression.
Set against the backdrop of the clubās Florentine Lounge, Discovering Mr. Brainwash features the artistās reinterpretation of seven oil paintings and sculptures. Here, Mr. Brainwash navigates the intersection of old and new, blending iconic works with obscure street art and pop culture imagery. This synthesis forces a collision of eras that both honors and disrupts the original piecesābreathing new life into canonical works while questioning the hierarchy and sanctity traditionally associated with them.
The Renaissance-inspired architecture of the Florentine Lounge provides an apt environment for the artistās reimagined oil paintings. Discovering Mr. Brainwash transforms the space into an interactive canvas where the artistās playful interventions spring to life. The Core Fine Art enhances this experience for Jonathan Club members by integrating the loungeās existing artwork into the show. Using digitally animated features derived from the artistās signature motifs, attendees are invited to engage directly with these installations, prompting a reassessment of how modern perspectives alter our understanding of historical artworks. By challenging the sanctity of these works while also celebrating their enduring signiļ¬cance, Discovering Mr. Brainwash becomes not just an exhibition but an exploration of the intersections between art, culture, and technology in the 21st century.
