Be sure to look through this month’s newsletter and calendar so you don’t miss anything. Check the Jadestone app and Facebook page for updates, reminders, and any last-minute additions. And remember, there are several ways to sign up for events, so get your name on the list early!

We have been working hard behind the scenes to make October extra special. You’ll notice some new activities mixed in with many of the familiar favorites everyone has come to enjoy. Whether you stop by for a morning cup of coffee, join us for a meal, try your luck at a game, or come out for one of our special events, I hope everyone finds something that makes them want to join in.

KICKING OFF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH WEAR PINK

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Jadestone family is coming together to honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, remember those we have lost, and support everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer.

Show your support by wearing pink to Jadestone events throughout October! Let’s fill our activities with pink and show just how much heart our community has.

DONATE TO THE CAUSE

Throughout October, there are three special ways you can participate and show your support:

Residents will also have the opportunity to make a donation throughout the month. Every contribution, big or small, is another way we can come together to support breast cancer awareness and make a difference.

ADD A RIBBON Stop by the clubhouse and write the name of a loved one who has been affected by breast cancer on a pink ribbon. It may be someone currently fighting, a survivor who inspires you, or someone whose memory you hold close. The ribbons will be displayed in the clubhouse throughout the month, creating a beautiful tribute filled with names, love, strength, and hope.

Be sure to check out our Breast Cancer Awareness flyer for more information, including details on participating throughout the month. Whether you add a ribbon, wear pink, donate—or do all three, your participation matters. Let’s make October a month filled with remembrance, encouragement, hope, and support. Together, the Jadestone family can make a difference.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Jadestone on Olive family is coming together to show our support, honor those we love, and raise money for an important cause—with a chance to win a $250 RENT CREDIT! Throughout October, you can earn entries into our drawing: • • • • •

Wear pink to a Jadestone event — 1 ticket Donate $5 — 1 ticket Donate $10 — 3 tickets Wear pink + donate $5 — 5 tickets Wear pink + donate $10 — 10 tickets!

Every pink shirt, every ribbon, and every donation is a reminder that we stand together with those who are fighting, those who have fought, and the families and friends who have walked beside them. Be sure to visit our Hope Wall in the clubhouse and add the name of someone you know who is currently in this fight or has been touched by breast cancer. Let’s fill our wall with names, love, encouragement, strength, and hope. All proceeds will go toward breast cancer awareness on behalf of the Jadestone on Olive family. The winner of the $250 rent credit will be drawn at our Boo Bash on October 30th! Let’s fill Jadestone with PINK this October and show just how much our community cares. Together, we can make a difference!

THE DESERT IN OCTOBER October in the Arizona desert has a special kind of beauty. While other parts of the country welcome autumn with falling leaves and chilly afternoons, our season arrives in its own unique way—with cooler mornings, softer sunlight, and the return of comfortable evenings. After the long, intense heat of summer, October feels like a fresh beginning. The mornings become more pleasant, inviting us to enjoy a cup of coffee outside, take a walk through the neighborhood, or spend time visiting with friends. As the sun sets, the desert sky often glows with brilliant shades of orange, pink, purple, and gold, giving us a spectacular display that never seems to grow old.

Starting October 1st, stop by the clubhouse and pick up a pumpkin while supplies last! Then it’s time to let your imagination run wild! Carve it, paint it, decorate it, or completely transform it into your own one-of-a-kind creation. Funny, spooky, silly, fancy—we want to see what you can dream up!

Autumn in Arizona may not look like the fall scenes pictured on postcards, but the desert has its own seasonal colors. Golden sunlight shines across the mountains, desert plants appear brighter against the blue sky, and colorful sunsets stretch across the horizon. Pumpkins, fall wreaths, and seasonal decorations add traditional shades of orange, red, and yellow to our homes and patios.

Bring your finished pumpkin back to the clubhouse to be put on display for everyone to enjoy. The Most Original Pumpkin wins a $50 gift card! The winner will be announced at our Boo Bash on October 30th at 4:00 PM!

October also brings renewed life and activity to the desert. Birds become more active, and local wildlife takes advantage of the milder temperatures. Plants that survived the summer heat begin to look refreshed, and gardeners can once again enjoy spending more time outdoors. It is a wonderful reminder of how strong and resilient the desert can be.

So, grab a pumpkin, get creative, and show us what you’ve got. We can’t wait to see the clubhouse filled with your amazing creations!

This time of year gives us more opportunities to enjoy everything our community has to offer. We can relax by the pool, take an evening stroll, gather with neighbors or simply sit outdoors and appreciate the peaceful surroundings. After months of rushing from one air-conditioned place to another, it feels wonderful to slow down and enjoy the fresh air again. October is also the beginning of a joyful season at Jadestone. Our regular activities are returning, new gatherings are being introduced, and special celebrations are just around the corner. It is a time to reconnect with neighbors we may not have seen as often during the summer and welcome back those returning for the cooler months. Living in the desert teaches us to appreciate the changing seasons in a different way. We may not see forests filled with red and gold leaves, but we experience the warmth of the sun without the harshness of summer, the coolness of early mornings and the quiet beauty of desert evenings. So, open the door, step outside, and enjoy this wonderful time of year. Take in a beautiful sunset, visit with a neighbor, and appreciate the unique beauty surrounding us. October in the desert may not look like autumn everywhere else, but here in Arizona, it feels like something truly special.

Halloween arrives every October with glowing jack-o’-lanterns, creative costumes, sweet treats, and just the right amount of mystery in the air. Although the way we celebrate has changed greatly through the years, the holiday continues to bring people together through imagination, laughter, and old-fashioned fun.

Halloween decorations have changed over time, but the traditional colors of orange and black remain popular. Orange represents the warm colors of autumn and the harvest, while black adds the mystery of nighttime. Pumpkins, bats, black cats, witches, skeletons, and ghosts all help create the playful atmosphere associated with the holiday.

The origins of Halloween can be traced back more than 2,000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This celebration marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. People believed that the boundary between the living and the spirit world became thinner at this time of year. They gathered around bonfires and wore disguises as part of the observance. Over the centuries, these customs blended with other religious and cultural traditions and eventually developed into the Halloween we recognize today.

Of course, Halloween is not only about ghosts, goblins, and things that go bump in the night. It is also an opportunity to be playful, express our creativity, and share happiness with those around us. Decorating your home, watching a classic Halloween movie, baking a seasonal treat, handing out candy, or dressing in costume can make October feel extra special. The holiday also reminds us of the joy found in simple traditions. A bowl of candy by the door, a carved pumpkin glowing after dark, or a favorite spooky movie can bring back wonderful memories. These little moments connect us to earlier years while giving us a chance to create new traditions with friends and neighbors.

Even the jack-o’-lantern has an interesting history. Before pumpkins became the holiday favorite, people in Ireland and Scotland carved faces into turnips and other vegetables. Small lights were placed inside to create glowing lanterns. When immigrants brought the tradition to America, pumpkins proved to be larger, easier to carve, and much more plentiful. The cheerful— or sometimes frightening—jack-o’-lantern soon became one of Halloween’s most recognizable symbols.

No one is ever too old to enjoy Halloween. You do not need an elaborate costume or a yard filled with decorations to join the fun. Wear a festive hat, enjoy a pumpkin treat, share a funny Halloween story, or simply spend time with people who make you smile. The best part of any celebration is being together.

The custom of dressing in costume also has deep roots. Long ago, people wore disguises during seasonal celebrations. Today, costumes allow everyone to use their imagination for an evening. Some people choose something spooky, while others prefer to be funny, glamorous, or creative. Homemade costumes often become the most memorable because they reflect the personality and sense of humor of the person wearing them.

This October, take a moment to remember your favorite Halloween traditions and create a few new memories. Enjoy the costumes, the treats, the laughter, and the touch of magic that makes this time of year so much fun. Have a safe, happy, and delightfully spooky Halloween, Jadestone family

Trick-or-treating became especially popular in the United States during the 20th century. For many of us, Halloween brings back memories of walking through the neighborhood with friends, carrying a bag or plastic pumpkin and hoping the next house would hand out a favorite candy bar. We may also remember school parties, costume parades, caramel apples, popcorn balls, and patiently waiting for the sun to set so the evening’s adventure could begin.
