HERE WE GO
The Mushroom Kingdom is being invaded by Bowser, the king of the Koopa Troopa (a race of evil turtles). He uses dark magic to turn the people of the kingdom into bricks and obstacles in the world. At the same time, Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach, the only person with the power to lift the curse.
Mario, a brave plumber, and occasionally assisted by his younger brother, Luigi, to rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of Bowser, the series' main antagonist.
Mario (and Luigi if playing two players) must traverse many dangerous lands, from lush green plains, dark caves, to Bowser's flaming castle.
On the way, Mario encounters many enemies such as Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Lakitu, Bullet Bill... and must use Power-ups (mushrooms, fire flowers, champion stars) to become stronger.
After defeating Bowser at the end of each castle, Mario usually only finds one quote from Toad:
"Thank you, Mario! But our princess is in another castle!"
Finally, at the 8th castle, Mario confronts Bowser once more and defeats him, rescuing Princess Peach, bringing peace back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
