It is a real pleasure to welcome you to our latest season at Jersey Opera House. I feel enormously privileged, as the new Chief Executive, to have been appointed at a time when the theatre is on the brink of an exciting new chapter, following the £12.5m Capital refurbishment.
Since joining the Opera House earlier this year, I have been overwhelmed by the warmth of the welcome from the people of Jersey. I have been struck by the energy, ambition and pride that surrounds this glorious theatre. There is a strong sense of momentum here, driven by a dedicated team, a passionate community, and a shared belief in the importance of live performance. This season reflects that momentum. From music, theatre and comedy to family shows and new work, our programme brings together a wide range of experiences for audiences across the island. The programme includes the superlative Sir Willard White and Tom Davis, the ever-popular Dantastic and his Summer Camp and the smooth sounds of The Magic of Motown. We are also looking forward to welcoming back the
wonderful JADC and their production of Come From Away and the thrilling Black Dog Noir by Jersey Opera House’s resident dance company, Ballet d’Jèrri. We are proud to present work that entertains, challenges and inspires, while continuing to build opportunities for local artists alongside visiting companies.
Jersey Opera House has long played a central role in the island’s cultural life, and we are committed to ensuring it continues to do so for many years to come—supporting creativity, developing partnerships, and welcoming as many people as possible through our doors.
As we look ahead, our focus is on building a resilient and ambitious future for the theatre—one that reflects both its heritage and its potential. I am excited by what lies ahead, and by the opportunity to shape the next chapter together with our audiences, artists and community.
Thank you for being part of it and we really look forward to welcoming you to Jersey Opera House.

Internationally acclaimed choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen is making his way to Jersey to sink his teeth into one of the island’s most mysterious legends — the infamous spectral hound that is said to stalk the north shore.

They say its glowing eyes and harrowing howls would appear before the worst of storms, sometimes driving unwitting smugglers to a violent doom, sometimes frightening fishermen back to the safe haven of their homes, saving them from a watery death. Angel or demon? Friend or foe? Good shepherd or harbinger of doom? The only constant is the fear that grips us as the Black Dog prowls by.
This abstract narrative will be part shadowed fairytale, part surrealist psychological thriller, inspired by folklore, island legends, and the wild landscapes of the psyche.
Black Dog Noir will be presented as a double-bill alongside Marco Goecke’s Whiteout, an audience favourite from the BDJ oeuvre. Set to the music of Bob Dylan, this abstract piece is at once comical, melancholic, uncomfortable, and joyful. A perfect door into the work of one of the most celebrated choreographers of our time.
