No. 131 True & false butterflies (Phalaenopsis) 真假蝴蝶 1. That spring, a flower of Phalaenopsis orchid bloomed on my balcony in Taichung, Taiwan. 那個春天，陽台的蝴蝶蘭開了第一朵。

Phalaenopsis comes from the Greek phalaina (moth) and opsis (likeness), alluding to the resemblance of the flowers of type species to some tropical moths (Schultes and Pease, 1963). In Taiwan, it is called "蝴蝶蘭" (蝴蝶 = butterfly; 蘭 = orchid). A few years ago, my friend gave me several pots of blooming Phalaenopsis, and some of them died after the flowers were withered. This one, which was alive, is blooming again in that spring (March) after a few years of resting. 蝴蝶蘭屬（學名： Phalaenopsis）是蘭科 （Orchidaceae）下的一個屬， 其拉丁文學名是由希臘語詞 phalaina（蛾）和opsis（觀看） 構成，因為其花外觀與某些熱帶 蛾類相似（Schultes and Pease， 1963）。 幾年前，朋友送我幾盆盛開的 蝴蝶蘭，花謝後有的整株枯掉了。 沒枯的這盆，在沉潛幾年後，那 個春天(三月)再度盛開。

5. On that day, a butterfly (Pieris canidia) was standing on a flower of white-colored butterfly-like Phalaenopsis orchid. This is so called "True & false butterflies". 那一天，來了一隻台灣紋白蝶。 白蝶停在白蝴蝶蘭花上，真是名 符其實的蝴蝶花上有蝴蝶，真假 蝴蝶。

No. 132 An impromptu shot (Pycnonotus sinensis) 即興攝影白頭翁 A Light-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus sinensis) called A-Pui came to my balcony in the morning in Taichung, Taiwan. This was an impromptu shot. I unexpectedly noted A-Pui visited my balcony and stayed on the branch of green ebony (Jacaranda mimosifolia) when I was leaving home. I took this picture with my cell phone that was the only tool I had. I could recognize her although she was far away from me. She is usually quiet, whereas A-Shou is noisy. 早上白頭翁阿肥飛來我的陽台。 這是即興攝影。當我離開家時無意中發現白頭翁阿 肥飛來我的陽台，停在藍花楹的樹枝上。 我用手機拍了這張照片，那是我手上僅有的工具。 儘管她離我很遠，但我能認出她。她通常很安靜，而 阿瘦比較吵。

No. 133 Low-key lighting: final caterpillar (Papilio demoleus) 無尾鳳蝶- 低調光(終齡幼蟲) Low-key lighting is a style of lighting for photography, film or television. Low-key lighting makes a scene look dramatic. It lends itself well to portraits, commercial shoots and shots meant to convey a feeling of sensuality and mystery. No. 135 Who enjoyed baths? (Zosterops japonicus) 誰愛洗澡？ Late winter is a good time to photograph birds on a balcony. In Taichung, the phenomenon of defoliation is not obvious in autumn. Even if bird friends visit my balcony, they are often hid by leaves. I could only hear their's sound. Until late winter or early spring, last year's old leaves did not star to fall off. This morning after watering , I sprayed the leaves with a shower head. A pair of Japanese white-eyes (Zosterops japonicus) visited my balcony just after my leaving there. I stood behind French windows to observe these two guys. Of course, I did not forget to take pictures and videos in sunlight... No. 136 Low-key lighting: caterpillar (Papilio demoleus) 無尾鳳蝶- 低調光(幼蟲) 在弱光下拍攝小昆蟲，因為通 常要手動對焦，得用點眼力。如 果覺得周遭太暗了，可以用手電 筒，或是頭燈，等要按快門前再 把光關掉或轉向。 如果有空時，能用三角架最好。 但用三角架時又要兼顧距離和角 度有點麻煩，有時候我就不用三 角架了，而是相機直接捧在手上。 但是儘量用手腕或手肘靠著附近 的物品，才可以減少相機晃動。 讓我們來看看無尾鳳蝶 （Papilio demoleus）的幼蟲在 低調光下的照片吧。

No. 138 Green lacewing (Chrysopa sp.) 蚜獅變草蛉 草蛉是完全變態昆蟲，生活史包括卵、幼蟲、蛹、 成蟲。 草蛉的卵，會以細絲立在葉子上，像是一顆氣球。 蟲孵化離開後的空殼子，頂端有開口，像花開。 草蛉的幼蟲為捕食性，食量大，專門獵食小型昆蟲， 有如一隻尖牙利齒的猛獸，又常見以蚜蟲等小昆蟲為 食，因此俗稱蚜獅，是益蟲。 蚜獅有一個特殊的習性，牠們會將行走時碰到的小 碎物黏附在自己的背上，用以偽裝自己。這些小碎物 通常為植物碎片、或吸食過的獵物屍體。因此像個拾 荒人，整天把全身家當都背在背上走來走去。 蚜獅蛻變後的成蟲，是全身綠色，帶有翅膀的，叫 草蛉。我仔細找的話，常常能在陽台發現蚜獅的蹤跡， 但很少看到成熟後的草蛉，大概都飛走了，或是隱身 在陽台綠葉中。 如果您想看剛從氣球孵出的小小蚜獅，歡迎參閱 Vol. 6, Report No.55 蚜獅怪獸已誕生。

No. 140 Low-key lighting: butterfly (Papilio demoleus) 無尾鳳蝶低調光(新生鳳蝶) 蝴蝶在分類上和蛾一樣，都是 屬於鱗翅目（學名： Lepidoptera）。顧名思義，翅 膀上各式各樣的圖案和顏色，就 是由鱗片組成的。新生的蝴蝶翅 膀沒有受過風吹日曬雨淋，最是 漂亮。 讓我們來看看無尾鳳蝶 （Papilio demoleus）在低調光 下的照片吧。

3. 無尾鳳蝶有兩對翅膀(上下翅)。 其中，不管雌雄，下翅皆無尾狀 突起，此為無尾命名的由來。

6. 蝴蝶身體前半部毛茸 茸的，很可愛，很難和 蛻變前的幼蟲聯想在一 起。其實翅膀的鱗片也 算是一種變態的、扁平 的「毛髮」。
