2022 ANNUAL REPORT
DEAR FELLOW TECHSANS,
As a continued testament to the loyalty of our alumni, we finished 2022 with 26,244 members and $3,313,675 in overall contributions. While memberships trailed 3% from 27,080 the previous year, contributions soared 12% from $2,926,096. We grew our 1923 Society membership 3% to 1,472, representing those contributing at our Gold, Diamond and Platinum levels. A minimum $1,000 gift secures membership in the society, a $19.23 weekly commitment celebrating the founding year of Texas Technological College. With special recognition, exclusive events and branded apparel for these members, we will enjoy increasing growth and engagement opportunities with the 1923 Society.
We hosted our second Legacy U, an expansion of our Legacy Club programming, allowing grandparents to host grandkids on campus for a most memorable experience. Both Legacy Club and Legacy U represent major growth initiatives that play well within our association’s mission.
The official ring tradition continues to thrive with all-time high ceremony attendance, celebrating more than 1,500 ring recipients in the United Supermarkets Arena and at post-ceremony receptions at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center.
We presented 404 scholarships in 2022, representing $526,901 in academic support. This number is in addition to the annual assistance we provide for Excellence Grants, Raider Road Shows, Summer Showcase and other initiatives. Thanks to our alumni chapter volunteers committed to generating scholarships for next-generation Techsans in their local areas.
Our alumni networks have increased and registrations continue to climb on the Techsan Connection networking platform. The TTAA continues to expand its reach and relevance with students and alumni.
We also have continued to make progress reducing the debt on the Frazier Alumni Pavilion expansion project while the expanded facility has enabled larger private bookings.
The Texas Tech Alumni Association is in a very strong position in support of the university, our students and alumni. This success is made possible with your annual support. Membership matters! The Texas Tech Alumni Association offers a discounted Young Alumni level for up to five years after graduation. New graduates also receive a complimentary one-year membership courtesy of the TTU Office of the President.

The Student Alumni Association (SAA) is a first step to creating a lifelong connection with the university and strengthening the bond between students and alumni. Throughout the year, the TTAA offers student members social, career-oriented and school-unifying events as well as opportunities to network with alumni.

The Student Alumni Board (SAB) is a student organization sponsored by the TTAA. Its members serve as ambassadors for the TTAA and the SAA and participate in service activities, help host student and alumni events on campus and participate in the Council for Advancement & Support of Education Affiliated Student Advancement Programs (CASE ASAP). New board members are recruited each fall and spring.

In 2022, the TTAA awarded a $10,000 Excellence Grant to the Tech Teach Program in the College of Education for the project “Phase ONE Initiative: Recalibrating and Reconnecting With The Reason Why We (Teacher Educators) Are Here.”

Guadalupe Medoza, a first-generation student, received the TTAA Dallas Chapter scholarship.
“Tech is the place for me, not just because of the beautiful campus, outstanding engineering program and excellent reputation, but because it is the only college that made me feel as if I am more than a number,” Mendoza said. “In the future, I hope to earn my degree in civil engineering and work with a nonprofit to build schools in low-income communities.”

OFFICIAL TEXAS TECH RING PROGRAM
After enhancement and expansion of the Official Texas Tech Ring Ceremony in 2012, the ring program tradition has continued to grow in participation each fall and spring. More than 700 ring recipients participated in the fall 2022 Official Ring Ceremony at the United Supermarkets arena and 891 in the spring. Following the ceremonies, the TTAA hosted come-and-go receptions at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center where ring recipients took photos in front of the ring sculpture, enjoyed refreshments and learned more about the TTAA.
Ring sales and the Official Texas Tech Ring Ceremony are important ways the Alumni Association gives back to the university. A portion of each ring sold assists in funding Texas Tech University First Generation Scholarships. The TTAA also gifts each ring recipient a complimentary one-year membership.

Legacy U is so valuable because it provides a really fun way for alums to reconnect with the Texas Tech community and pass on their love of our university and our traditions to the next generation.
“It was great to spend a few days on campus re-living my college experience — I even stayed in the (residence hall) with the grandparents and kids, but the more important impact of Legacy U is the bond being built between grandchildren and their grandparents. Legacy U is an experience that everyone will remember for a lifetime.”

1923 SOCIETY
In 2021, the TTAA launched the 1923 Society as a way to recognize alumni who support the association at the highest giving levels. Since its inception, membership in the 1923 Society has nearly doubled to 1,472
The 1923 Society is made up of any current TTAA member giving at the Gold, Platinum or Diamond levels. These alumni receive automatic admission into this society at no additional cost. Members of the 1923 Society receive exclusive access to events and special member-only benefits.

The TTAA Legacy Club was reimagined in late 2020 to create an exciting program for our youngest Red Raiders from birth to age 17. The club is designed to instill a love for Texas Tech and its unique traditions among children, grandchildren and other young ones of loyal TTAA members, creating “Red Raiders in training.” Annual enrollment into the Legacy Club happens in January each year. Each Legacy receives an annual gift and birthday card, as well as access to exclusive events and fun activities during the year.
TOTAL LEGACIES 2,220 LEGACY UNIVERSITY
The year 2022 welcomed the second class of Red Raiders in training at Legacy University, an intergenerational summer camp experience on Texas Tech’s campus. The three-day event engages grandparents and their grandchildren in hands-on academic activities, while celebrating the traditions that make Texas Tech unique. Participants attend academic courses where they learn about the subject and enjoy interactive educational projects and graduate with a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
