Brad, who took over Folly Gardens Veterinary Clinics almost ten years ago, explained: “Mrs O’Regan brought her two Siamese cats for treatment to our practice in Bishop’s Cleeve, and a chance conversation about health led to her having surgery to remove a tumour.” While Brad was giving the cats a thorough check up, Mrs O’Regan described her own symptoms, saying she had been suffering from stomach pains for around five years. “Although I’m not a doctor, said Brad, what Kath was describing just didn’t sound normal to me - and I advised that perhaps it was worthwhile Mrs O’Regan speaking to her GP about the symptoms.” A scan subsequently revealed that Mrs

O’Regan had a tumour on her ovary. Fortunately, after surgery, it turned out to be benign and she has now been given a clean bill of health. The fact that the tumour was removed when it was prevented a potentially more serious situation arising. “Mrs O’Regan and I are spreading the word about her case to highlight the importance of speaking to a doctor should readers feel that they are unwell, even if its just for reassurance,” said Brad. “At the end of the day, whether pet or human, the earlier a condition can be diagnosed, the better. “All the staff at Folly Gardens are delighted that Mrs O’Regan received a diagnosis and we wish her well for the future.”

One of Britain’s longest-running and best-loved TV shows, the Antiques Roadshow, will be recording in Tewkesbury this Spring. The Sunday night show, which was first broadcast in 1979 and is now in its 38th series, will arrive at Tewkesbury Abbey on Thursday 12th May. In 2015 almost 35,000 people attended an Antiques Roadshow filming day and brought fascinating finds including a jacket belonging to former US president JFK, a musical penknife valued at

VIP recognition for White Tiger Academy’s Tae Kwon-Do students The Mayor of Tewkesbury and the Gloucestershire Police & Crime Commissioner were both present at Tewkesbury’s White Tiger Academy of Tae Kwon-Do and Self Defence club’s end of year presentations last month. Mayor John Badham and Commissioner Martin Surl joined instructors and other guests to celebrate the achievements of the students over the past year. The evening started with a number of team activities where both junior and senior students worked together prior to the trophies being presented. The evening finished with the presentation of the Student of the Year trophy which was presented to Aaron Beedle. Aaron became a student at the club three years ago after firstly joining the Friday night TACT project (Tewkesbury Active Combat Training) which was supported by Martin Surl. The club’s chief instructor, Paul Wanklyn (a fifth degree Black belt) said: “The offices of both the mayor and the Gloucestershire Police & Crime Commissioner

Appeal to make town blooming marvellous Volunteers at Tewkesbury in Bloom are encouraging the town's hotels, public houses and cafes to enter the 2016 Britain In Bloom competition in a battle of a hanging baskets. Until recently only the 'town' has entered the regional competition, but in 2015 there were two individual entries from The Bell Hotel and Abbey tea rooms - who were both awarded the highest accolade by RHS judges. New Leisure Centre brings boost for local jobs Tewkesbury's new Leisure centre is well on schedule to meet its planned opening for the half term break at the end of May. When it opens there will be 40 to 50 full and parttime staff to manage the Leisure Centre, and a wide range of new facilities. The centre will have a 25 metre swimming pool, a large 20 metre training pool and water features play area, 60 station gym with weights and cardiovascular equipment, and a multi-activity room providing a range of group exercise classes. There will also be a coffee shop serving snacks and hot and cold drinks. Nick Moran, Area Manager for Places for People, the centre's management company, told us “Main contractors Willmott Dixon, Tewkesbury Borough Council and ourselves are delighted with the way work is progressing and that this is a great project happening for Tewkesbury. “There are lot of exciting new features for people to look forward to. Parking will be free, and there will be village style changing rooms for the pool, equipped with a wide range of changing and shower cubicles, together with group changing areas and full disabled access. “Details of job opportunities will be announced soon at the job centre and in the press.” Free Wi-Fi will be available throughout the building.

To start a new year of reviews, I can begin with my book of the year for 2015. This much praised novel was short listed for the Costa Prize and long listed for the Booker. With Anne Enright we are once again in Ireland and are introduced to the Madigans, where widow/mother Rosaleen starts the story off by writing her Christmas cards to her children early. She tells them of her decision to sell the family home, Aardevin and distribute the proceeds between her four children and that she wants all four home for a final festive party. We are then introduced to each of the offspring. Two boys, two girls, all with diverse careers and interests. Constance, the only one to have stayed locally, having married a local builder who has succeeded on the back of the Irish boom in the 90s. The other daughter is living in Dublin, a new mother but a disappointed actress.

The two sons have lived much more itinerant lives, each brother showing very different interests and inclinations. It is these four lives and Rosaleen's that make up five stories before the family all meet up for a very eventful Christmas filled with family relationships and other turbulent events to dramatically conclude the Madrigan's ownership of their old home. Anne Enright has a worthy reputation as a short story writer, a craft beautifully reflected in this novel, where each Madrigan provides their vignette on their lives, loves and losses, merging together to mould a perfectly constructed novel which should not disappoint. AN UNEXPECTED DELIVERY

This month’s rescue concerns not only one of the smallest mammals that we have ever dealt with, it is also one of the rarest. We have only ever dealt with one or two of these in our 31 year history, writes Caroline Gould of Vale Wildlife Rescue. We receive many calls regarding small rodents – wood mice, house mice and voles being the most common and every so often someone reports that they have a dormouse, which invariably turns out to be one of the aforementioned species instead.

We recently took a call from someone living on the Herefordshire border that had found what they said was a dormouse in their cupboard under the stairs which they discovered when the hoovering was being done. We were all convinced that it would be a wood or house mouse but when it arrived, sure enough, it was a gorgeous little dormouse. The hazel dormouse or common dormouse (Muscardinus avellanarius) is a small mammal and the only living species in the genus Muscardinus. It is 6 to 9 cm (2.4 to 3.5 in) long with a tail of 5.7 to 7.5 cm (2.2 to 3.0 in). It weighs 17 to 20 g (0.60 to 0.71 oz), although this increases to 30 to 40 grams (1.1 to 1.4 oz) just before hibernation. The hazel dormouse hibernates from October to April–May. After we had got more information from the

finders about the circumstances of his rescue, it seems that they had taken delivery of a load of firewood, brought in from a local farm and stacked outside their back door and he most likely got into the house when the door had been left open at some point. In winter, the hazel dormouse will hibernate in nests on the ground, in the base of old coppiced trees or hazel stools, under piles of leaves or under log piles as these situations are not subject to extreme variations in either temperature or humidity. As one of the UK’s only true hibernating mammals, the little dormouse was probably fast asleep when the wood was moved which was probably a good thing as keeping still would almost certainly have saved him from injury or worse. Weighing only 17 grams when he came in, we made him comfortable in his accommodation and set about trying to find some of his naturally preferred foods, not an easy task in the middle of January when most of the berries and nuts he would favour have been taken by other animals. He is therefore being offered hamster food, hazelnuts, apple, melon, blackberry, orange & sunflower hearts (amongst other things) and he will stay with us (we won’t allow him to hibernate because of his low weight) until the spring when he will

hopefully go into a soft release programme to get him back into the

TEWKESBURY DONATES TO CUMBRIA FLOOD VICTIMS The Rotary Club of Tewkesbury, supported by the Chamber of Commerce, initiated a collection in the town to support the victims of the floods in Cumbria. This was started just before Christmas with a collection point in the Town Hall plus several of the shops in the High Street. Many generous donations, large and small, have been received and the club was recently able to send a cheque for £1000 to the Cumbrian fund, organised by the Rotary Clubs in Carlisle. This amount was doubled by the matched funding available from the government and will go to help with the essentials that are required after the floods had hit the town. The residents of Tewkesbury can relate to the problems following the devastating floods and have been very willing to return the assistance given to the town back in 2007 by the Rotary Clubs in

Cumbria. Andrew Turner, secretary of Tewkesbury Rotary Club, confirmed that the opportunity to donate to the funds still exists. The collection point in the Town Hall is still open, along with One Stop in Barton Street near to the Cross. The staff of One Stop have been very supportive and the club is very grateful for their contributions. The club also allocated some of the funds collected with the Santa Sleigh to the flood victims. It is also very pleased to confirm that the sleigh will appear again next Christmas. Now that Round Table has regrettably ceased to function the Rotary Club has stepped in to look after the sleigh, and the reindeer of course, and will arrange for it to be available for use by various groups to take Santa around the town. Two local entrepreneurs are planning to launch a social enterprise project based in Tewkesbury’s High Street to enable small businesses to trade from a “community store” without the usual financial outlay and associated risks. Project spokesperson says “Being able to trade for an initial 12 week period at a fixed weekly rent will offer fledgling businesses an opportunity to start up on the high street, ascertain whether their business is viable in the longer term, and hopefully sew the seed for moving into their own premises when the time is right for them”. The other aim of the community store project is to positively benefit the community by filling an empty high street building and to supply a good variety of provisions, goods and services not currently available locally as well as offering an increased choice for local residents in their own high street. “We want the community to feel part of the project too. We are hoping to add a community tea room which will offer volunteering opportunities as well as a community meeting room. We would like to run various workshops and courses of interest to the community on a regular basis either free of charge (when we can secure a grant) or at low cost from our high street base. We will also be offering a membership package for residents to receive a regular newsletter with updates, discounts and invitations to exclusive membership events”. Local artists and crafters are also welcomed. It is planned to set up a small ‘art gallery’ inside the premises allowing local artists and craftspeople to showcase and sell their work to the general public. There will be space for around ten to fifteen small businesses to trade for a fixed period of either 3, 6 or 12 months and an opportunity to work from the shop a couple of days per month to meet customers and man the till. with John Dixon, Tewkesbury Historical Society On 7th December the peace and tranquillity of Tewkesbury was shattered by a mysterious accident which demolished the wall of these garages, facing Station Street, writes John Dixon. Nearly a month later there seems no urgency to repair such a prosaic building. Had the incident taken place in December 1960, however, there might have been consternation since the humble garage has been built on the site of Tewkesbury’s former locomotive power depot – or shed! Never a Mecca for train-spotters with its few elderly locomotives, by 1961 it was in a dilapidated state awaiting the withdrawal of passenger trains. A decade later little had changed and the former steam powered maltings overshadowed the shed as it waited for development which did not happen until 1986 when the Maltings retirement home was built. Three cheers to the architect who modelled it on the historic industrial buildings – but will it take a decade to repair the garage?

LAKEFEST CONFIRM NEXT ROUND OF HEADLINE ACTS FOR 2016 Following the news in December that Starsailor are set to headline at Lakefest 2016, the organisers have unveiled a further two headline acts. Primal Scream and We Are Scientists have been confirmed to take to the stage at the summer festival, with three further headline acts due to be confirmed in the coming months. Returning for its fifth consecutive year, the family-friendly festival will be held in the grounds of the magical Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury, on 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th August 2016. Scottish rock band, Primal Scream, originally formed in 1982. With hits including: Loaded, Movin’ on Up, Come Together, and Rocks, the band are due to release their brand new album, Chaosmo-sis, in March. This is the band’s eleventh studio album, following their critically acclaimed ‘More Light’ album. With a huge cult following, this is a monumental booking for Lakefest. We Are Scientists exploded onto the UK

music scene with one of 2005’s iconic dance rock re-cords, With Love and Squalor. Years of touring followed, as did a second album, Brain Thrust Mas-tery, that spawned now-classic nightlife anthem After Hours. Main stage slots at Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury, T in the Park, and festivals all over Europe, as well as appearances on Later with Jools Holland, all served to cement their legacy. Their fourth album TV En Francais is due to be released in March. Starsailor have enjoyed endless hits for over 15 years; notably Four to the Floor – a track that re-mains as popular now as when it was first released.

CHRISTMAS BRIDGE JOB FOR SEVERN UNIT MVS The day before Christmas Eve members of Tewkesbury based Severn Unit Maritime Volunteer Service were busy trying to clear a very large tree complete with its root system which had lodged against the historic 14th Century King John's Bridge after being washed down the River Avon Head of Unit Nic Price said “The tree was sighted several weeks before that from the M5 Motorway bridge near Bredon so we took a

boat up the river to investigate and discovered that the tree was stuck fast with some of its branches firmly dug into the bottom of the

river.” “Unfortunately when the river level rose it must have re-floated and negotiated all the bends in the river finally coming to rest between the first and second arch of

the bridge some 3.1/2 miles downstream. “We realised that this was causing an obstruction and could not be left as it would form a dam stopping any more debris from passing

under the bridge and over the weir so we set about trying to move it.” “The job proved extremely difficult but we managed to get a rope ashore and were able to roll it so it was no

longer anchored in the bed of the river. It was then manually hauled to the shore and secured well away from the bridge until such time as Avon Navigation Trust could remove it.”

Laurence had a tour of the school and houses by our Head Boy where he met all of our pupils before joining our Post16 group for tea and cakes. Then she adds I blossom on cheeks to give a natural glow and I groom to control brows and add slight definition. For the eyes Emma uses a Choco mocha pallete, sealed with I finish light. MUSEUM TALKS 2016 Winter Museum Talks had a good start and well received evening with Roger Workman (Chairman of Cotteswold Dairy) giving the history of the dairy to a very enthusiastic audience of whom at the end of the talk were presented with various products the dairy produces, bottles of milk, double cream and yoghurt. To complete this year’s winter lectures we have just two remaining. First one, Steve Goodchild will be presenting a talk on ‘The Lost and Forgotten Pubs of Tewkesbury’. The talk is on Tuesday February 2nd. at the Trinity Church Hall in Oldbury Road Tewkesbury starting at 7pm followed by light refreshments inclusive of the £3 entrance fee. Also, there will be an exhibition of Lost Pubs at the museum in until Barton Street March. The final talk for this winter session will be held on Monday February 15th, at the Trinity Hall, details as above. This will be given by Michael KeanPrice Tewkesbury’s very own ambassador, ‘Town Serjeant and Common Crier’. The talk is entitled, Where do Town Criers Come From? “For Crying Out Loud”. HEAD FOR THE HIGHER GROUND With all the rain we’ve had over the winter, I must confess I’ve got a bit fed up with trudging through seemingly endless mud, and ending up several inches taller at the end of each ramble, writes Jack B. Walker. So, for this month’s walk I decided to head for the high (and dry!) ground, and return to one of my favourite spots for a summer evening stroll The Malverns. These rolling hills offer excellent trekking country for walkers of a variety of abilities. This short route over high ground is exhilarating on clearer days, with magnificent views

mit of Herefordshire Beacon (2). To the west the view is towards Welsh hills, with Herefordshire’s famously undulating countryside in between. Looking east the panorama stretches from the Lickey Hills in the north to the Cotswolds in the south. Walk southwards along the edge of the ramparts until you come to a path (3), which descends to an open space. Here there is a circular orientation and direction structure which is worth checking out (4). Follow the path as directed to visit curiosity known as Clutter’s (or Giant’s) Cave. This may once have been used as a shepherd’s shelter, as well as being connected to pagan beliefs. An eternally popular spot for those with children! Retrace your steps to point four and follow the broad track as it skirts

around the slopes of the hill. There are various benches along this path where the views can be taken in. As the main track curves around, bear right down a steep grassy path towards the reservoir below (5). If you don’t fancy tackling the descent and prefer to return by a higher route, the track you are on will take you back to the car park. British Camp Reservoir collects water from various hill springs. It was opened in 1895 by the Duchess of Teck, granddaughter of George III and mother of Queen Mary. On reaching the side of the reservoir, bear left, keeping the fence to your right. (6). When you reach the drive leading to the Reservoir House, turn left (7), and walk up through the woods. Eventually the drive emerges at the lower end of the car park.

Removal firm donates to Tewkesbury Foodbank A year after starting up in business, a local removal company has donated a pallet of food to Tewkesbury Foodbank. Lee Owen, owner of On The Move Removals, said: “We have been running just over a year now. I’d been out of work for nine months and decided to invest in a van to try and get some income that way. “After a year of trading we have done ok and as a family wanted to give something to support a local charity. So we phoned Tewkesbury food bank and asked

EX PUPIL RETURNING TO TEACH A local resident who once attended Tewkesbury School is returning to his old school in the New Year to pass on his music playing skills. Musician and long established guitar teacher Brian Hoggard attended the High school in the 80’s. In January Brian will be returning to run a 10 week beginners guitar class. The course will suit absolute beginners as well as those who’s playing may be a little rusty. Despite the course being held at the school, all ages are welcome at the venue. Brian says: “I have run successful courses in Worcester and Pershore. When looking for a suitable venue for a Tewkesbury course, it seemed amusing to find myself returning to my

old school.” Brian continues: “I like to teach in an informal, relaxed and fun way so that is what the atmosphere will be.” By the end of the course participants will have experience of single note melodies, basic cords, strumming, harmony playing as well as a little lead guitar playing. Participants will be taught material spanning many genres from folk to rock. The course is open to all ages and will last for ten weeks with a week off for half term. The classes will be held in the school’s

BEER DRINKING IS GENUINELY THE SUBJECT OF RESEARCH! In conjunction with CAMRA, Tewkesbury Museum are putting on some special events to help commemorate the twenty-first Winter Ales Festival, on 4th to 6th February. These events are remembering the lost pubs and breweries of Tewkesbury. On Tuesday 2nd February, Steve Goodchild will be giving a presentation on ‘Lost and Forgotten Pubs of Tewkesbury’ at 7.00pm in the Trinity Church Hall. This is a Museum fund-raising event. Long-forgotten breweries, pubs, landlords and customers will be remembered through anecdotes both funny and tragic. On Thursday 4th February, to coincide with first day of the Beer

Festival, an exhibition of Lost Pubs and Breweries will open in the Museum. It will run through February and March, during Museum opening times. To add a town dimension to the Festival, an ‘I was once a pub’ walk will be set up for the weekend; Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th February. A leaflet listing places which used to be pubs, and their names, will be available from the Festival, Museum,

Tourist Office, Town Hall and pubs (that’s the ones still trading), and places which were once pubs will be encouraged to display a ‘I was once a pub’ posters, which give the name they traded under and when and why they closed. We’ve got sixty one on the list, but there are more yet to be found! There’s no prize. It’s about getting a bit of exercise and finding out something new.

MORE THEN AND NOW OF TEWKESBURY’S SHOPS Last month we started a feature based on a Tewkesbury town guide from 1902. The guide, property of local historian Derek Round, is packed with advertisements of shops and traders of the time and include photographs of the individual businesses. This has enabled us to do a then and now comparison. We would urge readers not to respond to the period advertisements shown in black and white as many are no longer here. Edward Askwith traded from 81, 82 Barton Street as a watchmaker, silver smith and optician. Today the shop is now run by Kevin Mace, Quality Butchers.

With alterations to the building over the years, the only identifiable part is the carved stone quoin on the building adjoining on the left of the picture. Next we see Greaves and Tysoe, a general grocers shop at 5 Barton Street. Today the shop is Kinky Angels Tattoo Parlour. The key identifying features are the arches above the cellars above the pavement. Then we have 15 High Street, a sanctuary/hardware store run by G. Harris and Son. Apart from the shop number, little has changed to this fine

building. Today TAG Estate Agents are custodians of this fine property. Finally we see that again little has changed in 114 years as Theoc House continue the trade as a public house.

Members of popular Tewkesbury Allrunners to raise money in 2016 London Marathon Local Ladies, Nicky Wood, Helen Guthrie, Kathy Lewis, Linda Coxshall and Helen Gould, who all run with Tewkesbury Allrunners, are pushing themselves to their running limit by entering the 2016 London Marathon on Sunday 24th April. Three charities are benefiting from their feat of endurance Whizz Kidz, a childrens mobility charity, Alzheimer’s Society and CLIC Sargent. Money is being raised in a number of ways including a quiz night at The Royal Hop Pole Hotel and a treadmill in Morrisons Foyer. Helen Gould, who is running the event on her birthday, said “We’ve started weekly training runs of 10 and 12 miles increasing the mileage each week, we’re feeling positive and running with the group and lovely friends keeps us going”.

SILURIAN CHOIR CELEBRATES WITH OWN SOLOISTS For our two concerts in the second half of last year we very fortunate to be able to use quality local soloists from within the choir. For our Mozart Concert in Pershore Abbey in October, and also our Christmas Concert in Twyning Church, appreciative audiences heard Gemma Heeks, Marie Randall, Nicholas Jones, David Thompson, Alice Crowe, Charles Renshaw, Victoria Fortin and David Coulton. It has been a feature

of our choir since its inception in 2002 to encourage our young singers and use our own soloists in our concerts. We feel that it is important to give our singers of high quality an opportunity to sing in demanding situations. We have begun this new term preparing for Pershore Abbey again

with a concert of Beethoven music on 23rd April. This concert will include Beethoven’s Mass in C, two Romances for violin and orchestra, the hallelujah Chorus from Mount of Olives and Symphony No.8 – and also local soloists.

MAKING STUFF? WE LOVE IT, SAY CRAFTY MUMS When Ruth Adcock signed up for craft sessions in Tewkesbury, she wasn’t sure what to expect. Three months later, the sessions organised by Community Family Care have been such a success that they have won funding to continue for another term. And the parents who attend are over the moon. For Ruth who has two children, aged 9 and 11, Tuesday afternoons at the Tewkesbury Youth Centre are about more than making snowmen out of a sock (although her snowman was pretty cool!). “We get out of the house and do something completely different,” she said. Annette Gresty agreed. “We go and pick up our kids and feel so much better. It’s good for our self-esteem, it’s very sociable and has cemented friendships,” she said. The crafts on offer include jewellery making, sand art and creating cards and scrapbooks. Rae Edwards, Family

making a picture out of buttons and card. “This gives me an escape for two hours. Sometimes I arrive feeling really wound up and doing something simple like rubbing sand has an incredible effect,” she said. Community Family

THEFTS FROM VEHICLES Over the last few weeks we seem to have had a spate of thefts from vans, writes Police Sergeant Henry Wright of Tewkesbury Police. Unusually two of these were actually at the site where the tradesmen were working. I appreciate that checking all the doors can be time consuming if the vehicle does not have central locking but it only takes seconds for a thief to enter a van and make off with a power drill or other expensive piece of equipment. Replacing tools is expensive and time consuming it will probably increase your insurance premium at the next renewal. Another expensive problem is the theft of spare wheels from vans which has been a major problem nationally. Spare wheel theft is becoming an everincreasing problem and, with the cost of a van spare wheel averaging £200, it can be a very profitable business for thieves. Even when vehicle owners have alarms, these are generally only triggered when the vehicle is entered - not when the spare wheel is stolen

Advice for vehicle owners •Where possible, park in your garage. • Alternatively, park in a way that restricts access to your spare wheel. • Park in areas easily observed by neighbours and other members of the public. •Consider painting or spraying the vehicle registration on the spare wheel and tyre. This may deter offenders as wheels and tyres which are obviously identifiable in this way are harder to sell on and therefore less valuable to an offender. If you are a tradesman who works away from home and you use travel lodge type accommodation be very wary as the car parks of these locations are particular favourites of thieves. Security at these premises varies consid-

To end on a more positive note vehicle crime is not as prevalent as it was and most thefts are avoidable by taking some very simple measures.

Simple Measures The followi n g guidelines should help prevent you and your vehicle from becoming a victim. • Never leave possessions in your vehicle. If you must, lock them in the boot. Always take corresponpersonal dence, cash, credit or debit cards with you. Never leave any documentation pertaining to the vehicle, service record, registration document etc. • Remove all signs of Sat Navs in the car. e.g. cradle and suction marks on windscreen. • No matter how briefly you are going to be away from your car, you must

remember to lock all doors, close the sunroof and secure the boot. • Always fit and set security devices. • Remember to always remove the ignition key when you park, even if your car is on the drive or when you are filling up with fuel at a garage. • Don't forget to remove mobile phones and detachable entertainment systems, if fitted. Take note of the model and serial numbers of these items and property mark them. • Consider having your windows and headlamps security etched. • When driving, keep all valuables out of site or locked in the boot. • When parking away from home try to use a supervised car park. Ensure that the area is well lit and that access is safe, as you may be returning to your vehicle in darkness. • In the cold weather DO NOT leave your vehicle unattended to defrost with the engine running. If your vehicle is stolen your insurance may be invalid. Leaving a vehicle unattended with an engine running is also an offence.

Falconer flies in for museum talks Tewkesbury’s John Moore Museum will host stage another of its popular ‘live animal’ events for the February Half Term. Visitors can meet experts from Midlands-based JRCS Falconry, who will be bringing along a Golden Eagle, a peregrine falcon, a buzzard, an eagle owl, a barn owl and a little owl. A falconer will be revealing facts about these fascinating creatures, who will be in the museum to answer all questions about birds of prey and the art of falconry in general. There will be two sessions - both on Saturday 13th February - from 10.00am until 1.00pm and from 2.00pm until 5.00pm. Tickets for ‘Birds of Prey Day’ are £3 for adults, £2 for children, £2.50 for students and seniors of £8 for a family ticket. The Crescendo Big Band have released their programme of local performances for 2016. This popular swing band will be back performing their monthly Sunday concerts at the Gupshill from 28th February right through until 29th May. March Tewkesbury travel to the Forest of Dean to take on Berry Hill. Tewkesbury RFC has been working hard to improve its facilities at the Moats, and was proud to unveil its new changing rooms at the end of last year. The new £380,000 facility was officially opened by rugby legend Phil Vickery. The changing rooms are now located at the club house, away from the flood plain, and will provide flexibility for the club to extend its activates.

MARATHON DATE FIXED This year’s Tewkesbury Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 15th May. The event will start at 10.00am from Lincoln Green Lane. Entrants must be at least 17 years of age for the fast, flat race which takes place in the countryside around Tewkesbury.
