A
previously unknown group from Peterborough has gotten into the play for natural property on the city’s far west side. Ontario Conservation Accelerator just purchased a wide swath of land along Matchette Road and Sprucewood Ave, from a numbered company associated with the Coco Group, which at one time was planning to redevelop the old Windsor Raceway site. The purchase does not include the oval track itself. The non-profit purchased the almost 50-acre (20.2 hectare) slice for $10 million in May. The property is adjacent to several protected natural areas, including Ojibway Park and across the street from the Ojibway Prairie Provincial Nature Reserve. Continued on page 4
