But it’s not always been that way and I’ve had to work hard to be where I am today. I was overweight throughout school but never unhappy, except for PE lessons which I dreaded all week long. Exercise had no part in my life and became something that I’d resigned to other people. I reached my heaviest weight in the summer of 2001: I was 12 years old and 14st! I was often tired and always had terrible skin and as school became harder, I learnt to deal with my size by hiding in big, dark clothes. of exercise and extra drinking calories saw the scales tip ever closer to another stone on. It wasn’t until I moved to the Netherlands in 2010 that I began to take control of my weight with exercise. When I came home, my Mum told me she’d been going to a gym too, one that only took 30 minutes and incorporated both cardio and strength training. It sounded too good to be true but when I saw the results her and my Aunt had made with Curves, I knew I had to have a go myself. I’ll admit I was sceptical; I was now a healthy weight and didn’t see how 30 minutes 3 times a week could help me. I signed up for 6 weeks and lost 5” and 3lbs in my first month! I’m still losing inches now! I get to see great results and lovely ladies change their lives everyday.
