Sinai Cinema Presents Among Neighbors Today at 1:00pm

Sunday, February 1 9:30am-4:30pm Rise Against Hunger is a global effort to end hunger and empower communities. We are so excited to once again host this incredible social action project at Temple Sinai on February 1, where we will pack at least 25,000 meals for those in need throughout the world. Every member of our community, from age 1-105, will have an opportunity to participate in one of our 90 minute shifts, competing to see which group can pack the most meals. Bring your friends and join us for this temple-wide Mitzvah! Sunday, January 11, 2026 • 1:00pm in the Simcha Room Combining magical realism and evocative hand-drawn animation with revelatory interviews and verité footage, Among Neighbors examines the story of a small, rural town where Jews and Polish Catholics lived side by side for centuries before World War II. The film brings the Polish response to the Holocaust to life through the last living eyewitnesses, revealing both love and betrayal as it zeroes in on one of the last living Holocaust survivors from the town, and an aging eyewitness who saw Jews murdered there — not by Nazis, but by her own Polish neighbors. Among Neighbors will open in theatres in late January.

Sinai Stitches is a group that knits and crochets items for charity. ALL are welcome! If you would like to learn how to knit, please reach out to be matched with one of the ladies for one-on-one lessons. Conversational Hebrew

next class: Wednesday, January 21 at 7:00pm Shalom! My name is Galia Shahin, and I will be teaching Conversational Hebrew for Adults. I am Israeli born and raised and have been teaching Hebrew for over twenty years. In every class, we are going to review the Hebrew alphabet and learn to read words and short sentences, utilizing the Hebrew vowels. In addition, we are going to engage in conversational Hebrew, learning words and phrases for everyday use. If you are traveling to Israel with Rabbi White, want to listen to Israeli news, or simply want to converse like a Tzabar, come join us and let’s learn Hebrew! Morah Shahin, who is one of our wonderful Religious School teachers, will be at the helm for 18 one-hour sessions, on assorted Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm. War and its Aftermath: An Israeli Expert’s Insight on Today’s Middle East Dr. Harel Chorev in conversation with Jeffrey Sklar

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3 • 7:30PM In this timely and incisive discussion, Dr. Harel Chorev—a senior researcher at the Moshe Dayan Center, CNN and media commentator, and renowned historian of the Middle East—offers an analysis of how war shapes the social and political landscapes of the region long after the last shot is fired. Drawing on two decades of research and his deep understanding of the Palestinian society and the evolving role of cyberspace, Dr. Chorev explores the hidden forces that drive post-conflict transformation. From the shifting alliances in Gaza and the West Bank to the ripple effects of normalization agreements and digital activism, this talk unpacks the complex aftermath of war in the Middle East. With a unique blend of historical insight and contemporary relevance, Dr. Chorev provides a nuanced Israeli perspective on the region’s most pressing challenges— and the possibilities for its future. Dr. Harel Chorev is a Research Fellow and Head of the Middle Eastern Network Analysis Desk at the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University. He is an expert on Palestinian society and politics and he has written widely on terrorism, social media influence, and other issues, including in the landmark 2019 book Networks of Power in Palestine: Family, Society, and Politics Since the Nineteenth Century. A frequent media commentator and lecturer, he is an alumnus of Tel Aviv University, having earned a PhD in 2011.

who will talk to us about life’s transitions and the challenges men face. Dr. Stewart Lipner is a psychologist whose work has focused on helping individuals lead fuller, more meaningful lives. His therapeutic approach is grounded in collaboration and in the belief that lasting change comes not only from understanding old patterns of feeling, thinking, and relating, but also from creating new experiences that open the door to freedom, vitality, and growth. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lipner served as director of Psychological Services at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, mentoring and supervising many behavioral health professionals. Dr. Lipner is transitioning to semi-retirement, splitting his time between private practice and fun.
