Business Exams All persons employed or seeking employment in office positions are invited to take one or more of the NATIONAL BUSINESS ENTRANCE TESTS to be given at Palomar College on Thursday 1 May 19, from 9 a.m. to j p.m. Prepared by the Joint Co~nittee on Test of the National Office Manage~ ent Association and the United Business Education As sociation, these are tests of clerical ability designed to measure efficiency of performance in typewriting, stenography, bookkeeping, machine calculation, and general clerical work. Each test is two hours in length and not more than two may be taken. The times are as follows: bookkeeping or typewriting, 10 to 12; stenography, machine calculation, or general clerica~ 1 to 3. Individuals desiring to make application must do so not later, than May 2 and send with the aplication a remittance of $1 for each skill test Success in any test is evidenced by a Certificate of Achievement, awarded by NOHA. This is a helpful aid to securing a position or job promotion as many employers consider it more valuable than school grades. ThSl TSL[';SCO P2 can be an effective mediuo for voicing student opinion. Its prima ry purpose is to serve the student body, Mr. Gray added. He hopes that students interested in wr~ting will si gn up next year. Those interested in doing advertising a¡r e also welcomed hecause much of the revenue received by the paper comes from its advertisers. The ASB pays for the rest.
Next Friday and Saturday, l<iay 8 and 9, the Palomar A Cappella Choir, with the choirs from fourteen other junior colle ges will 6ourney to the East Los Angeles Junior College to a combined choir music festival. The Pal omar Choir will co mpete with other schools Friday, singing the selecti on, "C ome Soon." Conducting the comeined choirs in an all-day rehearsal and evening concert on Saturday, will be the well-known Roger Waegner, h~ad of the Los Angeles Bureau of Music, and conductor of the famed \'laegner Chorale. This festiv a l is an af termath of t he San Diego County JV1usic Festival at Grossmont High Scho ol on at Wednesday, Apri 1 22, which Dr. C. Hirst, director of Sacred I>!usi c at the University of Southern California. At that fest tival, the students were shown something about the intense concentration needed in the rehearsa ls of profession al groups. Also traveling to Los Angeles, May 8 and 9, will be seven members of the Palomar Junior College Band to participate in the com bined orchestra t o
be directed by James Guthrie, director of the San Bernardino Symphony Chorus . Those students who will make known the instrumental talents of this great campus will be: John Brode with the French Horn; Donal John, trombone; John Troutman, tuba; Mary Kay Gibson, ~d Schaffroth, and possibly John Trexel on the drums.
Mr. Gray alSJ has a full-time job at Escondido Union Hi gh School, where he teaches English and journalism.
