Technohull had the pleasure of showcasing a fine selection of its most iconic models at both the 3rd and 4th Olympic Yacht Show, offering visitors and brand enthusiasts the opportunity to experience firsthand the exceptional craftsmanship, luxury, and performance the brand is renowned for. In 2023, Technohull made a remarkable impression with a display of ten boats, including its striking flagship model, the Alpha 50. In 2024, the brand continued its strong presence, unveiling the Alpha 50 inboard version alongside the brand-new Alpha 40 and the all-time favorites Omega 47 and 38 Grand Sport, both featuring a sleek, redesigned hardtop. Both years, a GT7 was prominently showcased at the EKO Marine stand, further enhancing Technohull’s presence at the event.

MENNYACHT OPEN DAYS

13-15 OCTOBER 2023

MennYacht’s Technohull Open Days 2023, took place in the heart of Croatia’s picturesque Opatija between 13th-15th October. The event at ACI Marina Ičići showcased a captivating blend of maritime luxury and high-octane excitement, leaving guests in absolute awe. Technohull’s finest high performance models, including the GT7, GTX, the Explorer 40 and the Omega 47, took center stage in a series of thrilling sea trials. But the weekend wasn’t just about the waves. On terra firma guests were treated to sleek Mercedes cars on display and enjoyed fine wines, and gourmet food at Mala Riba. The turnout was overwhelming, and the atmosphere was one of camaraderie, luxury, and excitement, making for an unforgettable maritime spectacle.

ATHENS BOAT SHOW

Technohull made a remarkable return to the Athens Boat Show, with an extensive presence that captured significant attention. With an impressive lineup of five boats on display -a GT7, two GTX models with different configurations, an Explorer 40, and an Omega 47- the brand showcased its innovative and pioneering profile, highlighting its commitment to cuttingedge design, premium quality, and exquisite craftsmanship. The Bosphorus Boat Show Land Fair, the largest boat fair in Turkey, with more than 1,500 participating brands and 500 boats on display in a 100,000 sqm area, was held with great success between 17-24 February 2024. Technohull, reaffirming its leading position in the Turkish market, attended with five different models on display, which were proudly presented by Bodrum Marine Group and Sasko Yachting. GT7, GTX, 38 Grand Sport, Explorer 40S and Omega 47 attracted significant attention from visitors and enthusiasts alike, who had the opportunity to step aboard and discover each model’s features, and learn more about their high performance luxury character.

At the Miami Boat Show, the premier event that brings together the best in boating and yachting, offering an unparalleled showcase of the industry’s latest innovations and luxury vessels, Technohull in cooperation with KMB Yachting, its official representative in the United States made waves with the display of two standout models: the Explorer 40S and the Omega 47. As expected, both models captivated attendees with their sleek design, highperformance capabilities, and luxurious features, showcasing Technohull’s expertise in delivering the ultimate boating experience.

PALM BEACH BOAT SHOW

Less than a month after Miami Boat Show, Alpha 50, Technohull’s new flagship model made its highly anticipated debut in the United States at the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show. The first Alpha 50 to arrive in the US was unveiled in striking black, featuring triple Mercury V12 600 hp engines and a SeaKeeper stabilization system. Alpha 50 was accompanied by Explorer 40S and Omega 47 which were also on display after garnering great succes at Miami.

4-8 APRIL 2024

Nautika Belgrade, the specialized event for boats, equipment, water sports, and outdoor gear, took place in Belgrade, Serbia between 4-8 April 2024. In this year’s show, that featured exclusive yachts, speedboats and sailboats, Technohull and MennYacht Group, the shipyard’s official representative in the area, participated with a stunning GTX with hardtop.

INTERNAUTICA 2024

Since 1996, Internautica has been a key event for the international yachting community, blending tradition and innovation. The 2024 edition at Marina Portorož was a stunning celebration of luxury and innovation against the marvelous Adriatic backdrop, reinforcing the event’s status as a must-attend event, celebrating maritime heritage. Renowned as the oldest and most important Boat Show in the Adriatic, Internautica once again showcased the finest in yachting. Technohull participated this year, showcasing Omega 47 and GTX. The show, as expected, went beyond boats, with luxury brands joining the exhibition, while culinary delights and fine wines were added to the experience.

The 2024 Internautica Boat Show also marked MennYacht Group’s 30th anniversary. An exclusive extraordinary event with 500 guests, was held in the historic Grando old salt warehouse to celebrate the group’s three-decade “Unforgettable Voyage”.

LIMASSOL BOAT SHOW

Technohull Cyprus had the pleasure of participating in the 2024 Limassol Boat Show, held at Limassol Marina from May 23-26, 2024. In the exclusive VIP area, with an impressive stand, Technohull showcased the legendary 38 Grand Sport and the ultimate cruiser GTX. Visitors had the opportunity to step aboard and experience firsthand how luxury, cutting-edge design, and performance seamlessly come together. The Limassol Boat Show is undoubtedly the most popular and successful event of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean, attracting over 35,000 visitors and placing Cyprus prominently on the global yachting map. The show draws interest from across Europe, Asia, and beyond. Following the event, private sea trials were arranged, allowing customers to experience the Technohull range in absolute privacy, creating unforgettable memories.

VENICE BOAT SHOW

Held in the historic Arsenale, the Venice Boat Show is one of the main international exhibitions in the sector, offering an unforgettable experience against a breathtaking backdrop for sea lovers and boat enthusiasts. With around 270 exhibitors and more than 300 boats on the water, this year’s event was yet again in the center of attention of the yachting industry. Technohull participated for a third year in a row with the legendary 38 Grand Sport and the versatile GTX, leaving a lasting impression once again.

How often when you think of sailing, yachts and memorable summer events your mind goes to the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast? Yes, there really is an amazing event happening there that will intrigue any lover of sailing and luxury. An event that is spectacular, prestigious and memorable - Poker Run organized by Yacht Club Sozopol and Best Boats Only. This year the event, which has completely changed the yachting culture in Bulgaria, marked its 6th anniversary and as it was expected, it was an adventure that is still talked about. On 20th of July participants and guests enjoyed a beautiful cruising experience but also had the opportunity to explore the newest models from Porsche, as the brand was the official sponsor to this year’s event, and the watches of Swiss brand Ulysse Nardin which chose Poker Run to present its collection.

TRIP: FROM AYIA NAPA MARINA TO KASTELLORIZO, GREECE

JULY 2024

In July 2024, Technohull Cyprus organized an exciting 300+ miles journey from Ayia Napa Marina in Cyprus to the Greek island of Kastellorizo, featuring two Technohull GTX and one Explorer 40. Kastellorizo is a popular destination for boat owners in Cyprus, not only because of its proximity to the island but mostly because it offers a challenging open sea crossing with almost 160 miles route in open seas and diverse weather conditions. The first leg of the trip took the team along the western coast of Cyprus to Latsi in Pafos. Despite a forecast of 5-6 Beaufort winds, the Technohulls’ superior seakeeping abilities made the

journey absolutely enjoyable. After a thrilling ride through some rough seas, the group reached the picturesque port of Kastellorizo, known for its colorful houses, serene atmosphere, and rich history.  Cruising and exploring the surrounding islands was a pleasurable experience as the GTX and the Explorer 40 are the ultimate all around day boats, ideal for cruising at any speed and also for relaxing on board. The return journey blessed with perfect weather, allowed the team to cruise back to Cyprus at speeds of 45-55 knots, creating unforgettable memories of speed, adventure, and Mediterranean beauty.

Volcanic Retreat

At Sky Lagoon, it takes more than just a dip in the geothermal waters to revitalize the body. It’ s a whole ritual the Icelanders have been following for centuries.

Where the sea meets the sky, the Sky Lagoon ends — the new luxury spa with the artificial lagoon at Karsnes harbor in southeastern Iceland. Built from volcanic rock as local architectural tradition dictates, it appears to teeter on the verge of a high cliff, giving the impression that you are at the edge of the world while being just a few kilometers from Reykjavik.

at sky Lagoon, the entire experience is centered on the centuries-old culture the Icelanders have developed in order to rejuvenate their energy, both body and spirit, by harnessing geothermal energy. And it’s not just about a dip in the hot springs. This is a revered ritual. The traveler will first relax in the warm mineral-rich water (38°C) of the infinity pool (70 meters long and 1.20 meters deep), breathing in the clean air from the Atlantic. After diving into the icy water for the necessary shock to the body, he or she will then move to the sauna, in a space with a gigantic glass opening, for a breathtaking view of the ocean. next, he WiLL slowly walk through the corridor with the cold mist, ending up at the skin exfoliation treatment that will prepare him for the hammam. The ritual will end with a good shower that will wash away all worries, as the locals say. But the journey doesn’t stop here. The experience concludes at the restaurant or café by tasting marinated herring or salmon slices on rye bread and local award-winning beers at the Gelmir bar, located in a cave by the edge of the pool.

Sculptures undertake to raise public awareness about coral survival in a fascinating underwater museum.

the intrepid traveler who has chosen to explore the Great Barrier Reef in north Queensland will don a mask and fins or a diving suit, dive into the ocean to a depth of 17 meters and swim into Australia’s first Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA). Inside an 165-ton biomorphic steel structure, more than 20 sculptures made of purpose-built concrete featuring coral gardeners await. This is the imposing Coral Greenhouse, inspired by the British Jason de Caires Taylor, which has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest underwater cyclone-resistant Class 4 structure. The eco artist has imagined colonies of mussels, corals or sponges on his sculptures, which will turn

the art into a living testimony to the need to save underwater life. with the same philosophy, he designed and anchored the Ocean Sentinels, the guardians of the ocean, in another part of the seabed. Eight hybrid statues dedicated to Australian scientists who have worked to protect reef life. The one non-submersible sculpture took the form of a young Aboriginal girl from the Wulgurukaba tribe, and appears to be standing on the water overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Powered by solar energy, the Ocean Siren changes color depending on the water temperature to warn experts of warming seas.

Helmut Newton Legacy

He revolutionized fashion photography in the 20th century with his sensual style, presenting provocative images that remain a benchmark today, challenging the establishment.

In hIs lIfe, the German-Jewish visionary, or King of Kink, did not hesitate in the face of anything, considering that the greatest challenge was the one he had set for himself. Helmut Newton apprenticed at 16 next to the famous photographer Yva. He left Nazi Berlin to temporarily immigrate to Australia. Upon returning to Europe, from the 60s until the 90s he would challenge the biggest international magazines -Elle, Vogue, Queen and later Esquire, Interview, Vanity Fair- with his provocative view on fashion photography. He would dare night shots, street photography, black and white film, or Polaroid. Big brands -Courreges, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Mugler- will trust him despite

his excesses, like when he photographed at a cheap hotel for sex workers, because that’s how he had imagined the shot. In the 80s he would undress his models to give nude photography his own sensual dimension, challenging the feminists of the time with the Big Nudes. He would ignore the comments that judged him as a misogynist, because he knew he loved women. With his famous portraits he would not just capture the features of the face, but comprehend the personality of the model. More than 100 years after his birth, Helmut Newton’s legacy is unsurpassed photographs, which do not belong in any category because they are a category in themselves: elegant, subversive, sassy.

Views of Time in Color

Camera clicks not only involve inspiration but also advances in technology.

On the OccasiOn of the landmark exhibition “Seeing Time in Color” at the Centre Pompidou-Metz, curator Sam Stourdzé, director of Villa Médicis, identified three fundamental challenges for the evolution of photography: image reproduction, encapsulating time, and fixing color. Archival photographic plates from the restoration of Italian Renaissance masterpieces, recreated especially for the exhibition, rare seascapes by Gustave Le Gray, previously unpublished autochrome plates from Albert Kahn’s collection, NASA’s first photographs from space, and more, record technological finds we now take for granted.

hOwever, from the early 20th century and the sculptor Constantin Brancusi who reproduced his works photographically in order to interpret them, to Harold Edgerton, the MIT engineering professor who fixed time with the stroboscopic flash in the 1950s, to Saul Leiter and Helen Levitt who in the 1970s pioneered the importance of color, photography manages to reinvent itself according to the technology of the time. Which justifies the concern of visual artist Constance Nouvel, who wonders: “Actually, what will happen to art when painting begins to depict photographs?”

HIDDEN DEPTHS

“Cave diving requires teamwork and respect for others, especially when the conditions become unpredictable”, points out Giorgos Vandoros, with almost 30 years of experience.

The UnderWonder series features cave divers filming and being filmed as they dive into the unknown, bringing an incredible sight from Greece’s underwater tunnels to your screens.

seriously, how many of us are aware that the idyllic Lake of Vouliagmeni hides a secret? The underwater cave boasts the largest room in Europe and ranks among the largest globally. Cave divers plunged into its 800-meter-long dark tunnel on behalf of the UnderWonder series, making a discovery that was brought to us on the screens. Venturing deeper than the previous expedition’s 125-meter dive in, they discovered an opening in the cave ceiling that led to a vertical natural well, filled with unique stalactites. This is the beginning and end of the 4-episode Cosmote TV series, which takes us on a tour to the equal number of underwater caverns in Greece. In addition to Lake Vouliagmeni, the series

i.e., at a depth of 40 meters, notes Giorgos Vandoros. From that point on, darkness and the unknown reign supreme. In this hostile environment for humans, cave divers test limits and endurance that require not just carefully checked special equipment but also patience, composure, and passion.

in the second episode, the team dives into Amphitrite Cave in Paros in order to take samples for research on the morphology of the Cyclades in ancient times, before the sea levels rose. In the popular and enchanting cave of Diros, to which the third episode is dedicated, two special permits were needed to allow the submersibles. The cave divers’ limited time may have

travels to Amphitrite in Paros, Diros in the Peloponnese, and the Elephant Cave in Crete.

the underwater camera followed a group of cave divers led by the experienced instructor Giorgos Vandoros to make unique images accessible to everyone, under the direction of filmmaker Kostas Karydas. The hybrid of terrestrial and underwater shots, as described by the director, took three years to accomplish, and was produced by Andreas Kouris, an avid cave diver himself. The underwater shots are signed by cave diver and cinematographer Carolin Negrin, the only woman in the group. Doctor of Geology and Speleology Vassilis Giannopoulos contributed to the enrichment of each episode with 3D maps and animations illustrating the location, form, and conditions that prevailed in the caves each era. And the adventure will begin on land with research, recording of information, and detailed organization, as in the underwater caves there is life as far as the light can see,

A mystical experience, according to Kostas Karydas, who likens the white room with the chandeliers formed by the stalactites to a Tim Burton set. In fact, Carolin Negrin will add another item to the list, stating that “you need to have a good relationship with yourself to withstand the quiet and solitude during decompression”.

An extra 1.500 square meter space dedicated to new CNC machines has been recently added to the facility, to complement the range and enhance Technohull’s capacity.

Vacuum infusion is a state-of-the-art environmentally friendly process that ensures that the resin is evenly distributed, minimizing excess material and air pockets.

At the new Iris, chef Anika Madsen is searching for new sustainable ingredients, experimenting with Norwegian flavors and serving high-end dishes, already earning a Michelin star.

What’s it like to sample a crafty menu sitting inside an art installation floating in the world’s third largest fjord? “It’s like going to the moon. I’ve never experienced anything like it”, opera singer Mari Eriksmoen will declare, and her video on Tik Tok will get 8.7 million views. It is Iris, the new revelation of food critics and gourmet travelers, a rather unusual restaurant. To visit it, one has to go from the city of Bergen to the town of Rosendal in western Norway, and then travel by electric boat on the lake wearing a windbreaker and raincoat. On arrival, you will climb aboard the Salmon Eye which floats on the Hardanger fjord, despite its 1,200 tons and 9,000 metal plates on its surface. The scenic art installation was made possible thanks to Eide Fjordbruk, the Norwegian sustainable salmon production company, and marks both the local market’s stance and chef Anika Madsen’s desire to seek out only fresh ingredients from local farmers or fishermen, using them in imaginative ways. The chef, awarded in Denmark for her technique in the preparation of seafood and vegetables, starts the evening with an informative video on

sustainable seafood production techniques so as to raise awareness. And the audience is just 24 people, because only so many can take part each evening in the five-hour culinary ritual which includes 18 dishes and incredible views of the mountains and sea.

With the motto “nature in the windows and nature on the plates”, Anika has tasty surprises in store, explaining to fellow diners at each change of dish her experimentation with each new ingredient she discovers. Cuttlefish tagliatelle with seaweed, celeriac and strawberry butter sauce or grilled salmon with cream made from seaweed, mushroom roots sprinkled with insect protein, a dish she has not accidentally dubbed “Feeding the future”. “At Iris, we tell stories about flavors, aromas and ingredients”, the chef notes. And it seems that her stories appeal both to the experts -for she has already earned a Michelin star even though the restaurant opened its doors in 2023- and to the world, as confirmed by seat reservations that have already been booked for the next three months.

The word folly also means madness and it fits perfectly with Malek Alqadi’s venture in the off-grid heart of the Mojave Desert. The Jordanian architect has designed an eco-conscious resort in the most otherworldly part of California, for travelers who, when they talk about seclusion, they mean it. Folly Mojave Suites projects like an ancient temple in a lunar landscape, positively predisposing anyone who consciously decides to find themselves away from the distractions of the city. Architecture, nature, and the off-the-grid desert form an atmosphere of sanctuary for veterans and novices alike.

while designing The resorT, Alqadi was influenced by the wondrous archaeological site near Petra that he explored as a child, but also by the technological challenges of the project.

In the spectacular Folly Mojave, the traveler is isolated in the otherworldly environment of the California desert and lacks nothing of urban civilization.

“The idea was to bridge the gap between ancient architecture and modern technological reality”, he notes, while at the same time wanting to include in Folly Mojave Suites everything the modern traveler needs. To that end, he and his team traveled from Los Angeles, where they live and work, to the Mojave Desert until they found the right location. Once they did, they camped there for a long time in order to complete in the middle of nowhere a resort that comes straight out of a future setting.

wiTh simple low-key architecture, the three self-contained suites do not disturb the stunning landscape, which seems to “integrate them” during the day. Constructed of blackened steel accents, burned natural timbers and concrete, with geometric lines and huge openings, for direct contact with nature,

they are dressed in desert colors to blend in perfectly with the environment. All three are named after the four elements of nature, since the latter plays a prominent role at Folly Mojave. The Water suite is perhaps the most special, with its rooftop hosting a large bed for those who prefer to sleep under the starry sky. It features huge openings, a well-designed kitchen, comfortable bed, shower and luxurious details.

The oTher T wo, Stone & Fire and Wind, have the same equipment but, in their case, the large openings have been replaced with large windows, providing security for those who need it. Inside, rustic elements, minimal furniture and light fixtures make up the decor. Clearly, more emphasis was placed on materials, architecture and natural finds, such as the large stone

that serves as a decorative feature within the suite. The lack of power is compensated by a solar microgrid, developed with the help of technology. As for the water, it comes from the Folly Mojave’s well. In fact, a dedicated system purifies it so it can be reused to water the scarce greenery.

A shorT disTAnce from the suites is a fourth building, the Mara Pavilion, inspired by the palm tree oasis of the same name. Here guests can watch movies, enjoy massages, holistic treatments, yoga classes, sauna, or take a dip in the temperature-controlled pool. And the experience ends with dinner at a selected spot in the desert, reached by jeep or on foot. Who said that self concentration in a breathtaking landscape doesn’t need amenities?

For Marc Newson, design is a means to problem-solving. And in fact, the renowned designer has solved numerous ones by including some of the best-known and prestigious brands in the mix, like Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Ford, Nike, Apple, and Gagosian Gallery, to name a few.

An industriAl designer doesn’t reinvent the wheel, claims 61-year-old Newson, one of the most influential designer-artists of our times. He certainly redefines it, though. That’s what the talented Australian-born artist -who has left nearly nothing outside his creative portfolio- did by designing for multiple sectors products ranging from watches, cars, furniture, airplanes, shoes, bottles, yachts, to public toilets!

By the Age of just 25, Marc Newson was already involved with industrial design. He had graduated from the University of Sydney’s Fine Art School, where he majored in jewelry design and sculpture, primarily for crafting objects. A tendency he had cultivated along with his Greek grandpa from his mother’s side, with whom he used to craft when he was little. He makes the start with the Lockheed Lounge, a challenging project that took six months to form, thus creating industrial design history. His

sculpture-like chaise longue made of thin plates of aluminum with rivets would be appreciated by many big brands and trigger his illustrious career. A career marked with high-profile collaborations, including Apple, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Ford, Ferrari, Nike, Knoll, Montblanc, Gagosian Gallery, and Quantas Airways, among many. Different collaborations, different products, different requirements, all with a common thread: Newman’s belief that the process remains always the same.

“design is A meAns to proBlem-solving, regardless whether it’s about a pen or a helicopter”. What always guides Newson’s mind is the scale and nature, which he considers to be the finest designer. Everything, from Apple watches to the award-winning Ford concept car and the Kelvin40 Jet Fondation Cartier airplane, is characterized by organic forms and futuristic vibes.

A personAl style which he sets aside when taking on a project so as not to overpower his clients. Marc Newson believes that designers are not brands in and of themselves. In his philosophy, he incorporates influences from various cultures in his oeuvre since he has traveled all over the world, having lived in Paris and Tokyo before moving to London. His works have gotten international distinctions and are included in the

permanent collections of museums the world over -from Centre Pompidou, MOMA to Smithsonian or the V & A, etc.- and have been auctioned at record prices. He saw the 10th out of 10 in total of his Lockheed Lounge (1988) sell for £2.5 million in 2015 and has raised $46 million in support of charities in another event. Still, the talented Mr. Newson remains humble and prefers to spend his summers in Ithaca, Greece.

The bespoke collaboration between the legendary Maserati and the historic Marchesi Antinori is inspired by a red wine and a lot of passion. The result? The first 100% electric GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello convertible.

When you add to the equation the iconic Maserati, celebrating 110 years of the Trident, on the one hand, and the historic Marchesi Antinori which has been producing wine for 600 years in Tuscany, on the other, you have a unique result. Literally. The first fully electric GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello convertible, released in a single copy, was auctioned off at a charity gala in Napa Valley. It was designed to celebrate the 50th birthday of Tignanello, the wine that shook up the Italian wine industry in the 1970s being the first red wine blending untraditional red Cabernet varieties. A wine that was misunderstood at first, especially in its homeland, only to later make it onto lists of the world’s best reds and international accolades.

Its productIon became the inspiration for the sophisticated modifications and nuances of the one-off convertible, which perfectly combines innovation, tradition, advanced technology, and craftsmanship with the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program. As Klaus Busse, head of design, notes, “we create experiences for Trident customers by designing bespoke cars that make the driving experience even more sublime and distinctive, just as an outstanding wine can be at the table”. walked through the vineyards and explored the cellars to form a complete picture, before moving on to the design of the Folgore Tignanello GranCabrio, which in its mechanical part retains the unmistakable strengths of the GranCabrio.

the chestnut body was painted with a special paint and metallic finish in a burgundy shade, imitating the colors of Tuscan hills at sunset. The dashboard is made of dark wood, in honor of the winery’s oak barrels, and phrases from the label have been laser-engraved on it. On the neck warmers one can see the Tignanello sun embroidered inside the Maserati trident. On the central tunnel the dates of the first and last harvests during the 50 years of the wine’s history have been engraved. The four regular seats are upholstered with an innovative fabric, recalling with burgundy and silver stripes the rows of vines and the metal elements of the barrels. Vegea has the texture of leather and is used for the first time by Maserati. Matte black for the wheels, glossy black for the brake discs, black also for the soft top that folds up in 14 seconds. The appearance and performance of the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello confirm that the two companies share the same passion for a strong identity, innovative spirit and respect for tradition.

Casa Maria Luigia, that reaps laurels for its tastes, interior, works of art and its 32,000 vinyl records collection. But the tireless creator also believes in social justice. He started Food for Soul nonprofit organization, and in 2015 he opens the first Refettorio. Today his social kitchens cook for the underprivileged in 13 cities around the world, from Naples to San Francisco, and he organizes cooking classes for children with special needs. How does it feel to ride 21-meter-high waves the size of the White House? Euphoria! Says the ultimate waterman of our time, Kai Lenny. .

Kai Lenny never shies away from a wave, no matter how big it is. He charges in, rides it, and emerges victorious, making surfers around the world delirious. The precision, speed, and times he achieves have earned him sweeping international awards in big wave surfing, kitesurfing, and paddleboarding, breaking records, and being the youngest athlete to be inducted into the Surfer’s Hall of Fame at the age of 27. In his case, it does not appear at all unreasonable that at the age of 32 he has his own television series “Life of Kai” (Red Bull channel), writes books, presides over a foundation that financially supports children who wish to engage in the sport (Positively Kai Foundation), and his net worth amounts to 7 million dollars.

Kai was born in the 90s, a time that glorified water sports. In fact, he was fortunate to grow up, as he frequently says, on the southern shore of Maui, Hawaii, with the waves in his backyard. With his parents hooked on surfing, his first encounter with the board at the tender age of five was fateful. Before he was ten, he was already riding a kite with notable surfers Laird, Dave Kalama, Robbie Nash, Gerry Lopez, and Derrick Doener observing and

instructing him. Friends of his parents, they were his superheroes who taught him how to survive in the ocean and keep his head down in the face of success.

aside from taLent, his daily practice, perseverance in pushing boundaries, passion for the sea, and his physical stamina have earned him two WSL Big Wave Awards overall wins and have helped him defeat seasoned athletes at the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge 2020, held at Portugal’s famous Praia do Norte beach. The bigger the wave, the greater the challenge for Kai, since fear is a source of power for him.

“ the moment your life is at stake, it’s only natural to be afraid, but instead of thinking about what might happen, you focus on what you want, and you charge forward instead of backing down.” Even when his helmet broke and he hit his head, he didn’t back down. He returned undeterred, intervening in the design to make helmets for big wave surfing safer. Kai recently became a father of twin girls and is already dreaming of the moment he will teach them to ride the waves. For this multifaceted athlete, surfing is a source of life inspiration, and he wants to introduce the younger generation to it.

Kai believes that surfing and snowboarding have things in common. Instead of waves, you tame mountain peaks with your adrenaline pumping, but as he admits, he’s never been that good in snow.
