His career volume totals more than $54 million with a projected volume of $24 million for 2021. “Since last year, I realized that time is my most valuable asset,” Kyle said. “When I operate my business on a strict schedule, I’m so much more efficient. Of course, I still handle urgent matters that come up, but that is also factored into my daily planning.” Since appearing in Real Producers, Kyle’s confidence has blossomed, enabling him to work at his highest level. “If you’re not operating at your best every day, you’re doing a disservice to yourself, to fellow professionals, and most of all, to your clients,” he explained. “The biggest change that I’ve made since I was featured in the magazine has been my focus on being a top-producing listing agent.” While Kyle revised his approach to production and sales, his mentality has remained the same: There’s never failure, only learning opportunities. “I got into this business because everyone is basically on the same playing field with the same amount of room for growth,” he said. “The more experiences you encounter, the more prepared you are for the future.”
Since launching his career nearly six years ago at RE/MAX Dream Properties, Kyle has been awarded RE/MAX Dream Properties Top Producer four years in a row. He was inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame, which is an international award, and achieved Top Producer in both commissions and transactions for RE/MAX realproducersmag.com

As high school sweethearts, Kyle’s wife, Brianna, has consistently been his biggest supporter. His parents were also very influential and guided him through various life events. “My dad taught me so much about helping people, especially if I was ever in a position to do so,” he shared. “My mom explained to me that life isn’t always fair and to define my success by how hard I work.” Additionally, Kyle said his broker, Lisa Hall — who has mentored him since he launched his career — has been instrumental in showing him the benefits of giving more than what’s expected. “When the priority is serving others, good things will happen,” he added.

Kyle sees himself as his only true competition and works hard to go beyond his comfort zones to reach new goals. “If I keep my blinders on and do my best to outwork my last goal, I will continuously grow and succeed,” he said. “I am my harshest critic, and therefore, I am always trying to challenge myself.” In May of 2020, Kyle’s father-in-law passed away, which deeply impacted the way he looked at life. “That experience reminded me to take a step back and appreciate the small, beautiful things in life,” he said. Kyle’s desire to help others is evident in his support to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals where he donates a portion of his earnings from every real estate transaction. Additionally, Kyle and his wife sponsor a family each year at Christmas, which has become a joyous tradition as a couple. Kyle and Brianna have a 4-year-old daughter, Madelyn Grace. As a family, their favorite thing to do together is traveling and experiencing new places. Beyond setting and accomplishing new goals, establishing solid relationships has been the key to Kyle’s success. “Real estate is a relationship business,” he said. “We all know the value of our client relationships, but equally important are the relationships we have with other agents and our partners. The Real Producers network has helped enable that environment, which has been amazing. After serving as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1999 to 2006, Jacque Gorris got into the mortgage lending business to continue fulfilling his desire to serve his community and the people within it. “Detroit is a beautiful city full of hope and progress,” Jay explained. “My team and I view progress over perfection as a benchmark for success.” In 2016, Jay started his real estate career with Arterra Realty and has joined forces with Good Company Realty as team leader of Jay Taylor & Associates. Since that time, he has achieved a career volume of over $50 million — $17 million of which he obtained last year. He was awarded Rookie of the Year and Top Producer by his brokerage. Prior to entering the world of real estate, Jay worked in the nonprofit sector, first as a high school math teacher in Nebraska, then at SpringHill Camps in Evart, Michigan, as a camp director and finally, a pastor of a church in Traverse City. “I wanted to step into a sales role since I always excelled in that arena,” Jay shared. “I thought about selling cars or pharmaceuticals; however, I kept coming back to the idea of selling homes — it offered the greatest opportunities to me, and synced up perfectly with my personality and the direction I wanted to grow.” Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, Jay was raised in a bilingual, multinational home with a childhood filled with traveling. “I learned at an early age how wonderfully wide open the world is,” he said. After earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska, Jay moved to Detroit. “I felt a pull to Detroit, and since moving here, it has shaped my journey in life and my career path.”

This past year, he grew his team to five agents and two administrative assistants. “Collectively, we are incredibly knowledgeable about Detroit,” Jay said. “Half of our team lives in the city of Detroit, and they offer authentic, firsthand knowledge of the area and a unique understanding of homebuying and selling trends. Additionally, we strive to be as multicultural as the city we serve.”
Jay is happiest when he’s helping families and individuals avoid common pitfalls and mistakes in the homebuying process. “One of the reasons I love my job is that I get to help people during stressful times in their lives,” he said. “My goal is to ease the uncertainty that can arise in any transaction and to aid in the strategies of wealth building.” Despite the unavoidable, seasonal swings of real estate, which can create months of bust followed by months of boom, Jay has always worked hard to maintain a high level of professionalism and consistency. “Our clients deserve first-class service no matter what’s going on in the marketplace,” he explained. “I have intentionally built a team of fulltime agents who share this same philosophy, and as a result, we have been very successful in maintaining current relationships and future referrals.” Jay defines success as having freedom. “I am successful when I am free from the burden of earning, from 30 • February 2022
the worry of failure and from the boredom of obligation,” he said. “My future goal is beyond being financially independent: I also want my team to thrive on their own. And furthermore, my biggest goal is to be a positive contributor to my community, leaving it a better place than I found it.” Apart from real estate, Jay is actively involved with the Detroit Branch NAACP, the local LGBTQ community and the Ruth Ellis Center. “I believe in helping those who have been marginalized by society,” he said. “Everyone deserves a fair and equitable chance.” When he’s not working, Jay and his wife, Liz, enjoy spending time with their sons Isaac, 8, Levi, 5, and Paxton, 4. As a family they love going to skate parks, hanging out with neighbors and traveling. Jay is also an avid snowboarder, golfer and motorcyclist. “My family motto is ‘we don’t live normal lives,’ and I feel that I approach real estate with the same unique and original methods,” Jay said. “I enjoy collaborating and sharing best practices with my team and other agents, and I especially love bringing new opportunities to my clients.” @realproducers

Trisha Dork, broker, CEO and owner of Elite Realty believes her purpose in life is to serve and strengthen others with the help of her family and work. When it comes to her brokerage, her mission is to inspire and grow her team so they can strengthen and serve the community. Through the help of her team, Trisha put together an Elite Cares program as a vehicle to fulfill her personal and professional purpose and mission. Every year, the brokerage chooses between seven to 10 charities, foundations or causes to partner with and/or support. Their initiatives help causes such as breast cancer, Vista Maria victims of human trafficking and veterans. Additional efforts include sponsoring local youth football or baseball teams and local families during the holidays. “We look for every opportunity to make a difference in the community,” Trisha said. Each new year, Trisha begins her philanthropic effort at home with her husband, Dave, their son, Trent, and daughter, Angelina. As a family, they decide what buckets they want to fill together. This includes ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, serving dinners at Grace Centers 32 • February 2022

of Hope, filling backpacks for kids and running races such as the Run 2 Save Our Youth. This year, Trisha set a goal to compete in 52 different competitions to raise awareness for each cause. As the daughter of a single mother, Trisha and her two other siblings grew up extremely poor. She watched her mother work tirelessly to save money and provide basic necessities for the family. “I remember one Thanksgiving when someone knocked at our door and left a box of food,” Trisha recalled. “As kids, we were so excited to get the package, never realizing we were the in-need family.” Over the years, Trisha never forgot the impact that simple gesture had on her life. Her mother was also instrumental in creating her awareness and importance of taking care of others. Since she was 10 years old, Trisha has been serving and giving back to various organizations. “My mom used to sign me up for lady’s aide at our church, and I began serving at all the church functions, clearing dishes at holiday meals, setting realproducersmag.com
tables for funerals and packing boxes of food for families in need,” she said. Trisha’s life has always been driven by the act of helping others. When she opened Elite in 2013, her office manager, Kim, suggested delivering food boxes for families in need. “Oh, my heart was so full,” Trisha said. “As a team, we bonded over the spirit of giving, so we decided to keep it going year after year. It’s been absolutely amazing to see how many lives we’ve touched.” At Elite, it’s all hands on deck to make the world a better place — beginning at home, in the office, among their clients and within the community. Trisha’s partner Andy is great at getting creative when the team runs out of ideas. Kim is the organizer and has fantastic skills at making sure all the volunteers, logistics and details are in place, whereas Trisha is constantly searching out new organizations to partner with and local families who need help.
“We are very intentional about serving our community all year,” Trisha explained. “Many like to give back during the holidays when everyone is all warm and fuzzy, but the truth is, the world needs help all year, every day. As a team, we find ways to do big and small things every month of the year.” Trisha relies heavily on social media and grassroots efforts to promote and support the group’s missions. “We always try to get as many people involved in every event,” she said. “Social media is a great vehicle to drive our message. When we reach more people, different types of projects come to our attention. For example, pet lovers were excited to donate earlier this year when we supported P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue, and fitness people love to join us for 5k races that support any organization. Having lots of different causes that speak to different people open up opportunities for everyone to get involved.” Wayne County Real Producers • 33

Her rare blood disorder, Factor V Leiden, caused a blood clot, and doctors ultimately had to perform brain surgery and remove a piece of her skull, leaving her in a coma for months. With Trisha’s brother by Nicole’s side and after 12 brain surgeries and a spinal operation, the couple faced over a million dollars in medical bills and no source of income. In response, Trisha, her family and the Elite Cares team rallied together to host a spaghetti dinner and raffle, raising over $10,000. Nicole has since recovered and is still working through rehabilitation to regain feeling and strength in her left side.
“MANY LIKE TO GIVE BACK DURING THE HOLIDAYS WHEN EVERYONE IS ALL WARM AND FUZZY, BUT THE TRUTH IS, THE WORLD NEEDS HELP ALL YEAR, EVERY DAY. AS A TEAM, WE FIND WAYS TO DO BIG AND SMALL THINGS EVERY MONTH OF THE YEAR.” When most people were isolating and canceling events in 2020, the Elite team found creative ways to continue serving and giving back. They sent Halloween candy to troops, set out pumpkins for kids in the community, did 5k team runs, had a bottle drive for Autism awareness, collected cans for Goodfellows and continued their Thanksgiving and Christmas programs. In 2021, the team is set to expand their efforts and complete nine Elite Cares programs. “I am incredibly proud of what the Elite family has done over the past eight years,” Trisha said. “It’s amazing to witness how many lives we’ve changed and the communities we’ve served. I also love that we’ve gotten our kids involved because I know we are creating a huge ripple effect full of kindness and service that will carry on for decades to come.” 34 • February 2022
Because of the massive charitable-based work Elite Realty has done, their brokerage has become synonymous with community service, which has established a solid client base that’s built on trust. “We don’t just sell houses: We change lives,” Trisha said proudly. Trisha has charitable work as a cornerstone in her life, and she shows no sign of stopping. “I am a mom of two, own four businesses, go to college at the University of Michigan and still find time to compete in 52 competitions, give back and participate in charity events every month, and involve everyone in my sphere to join me on this crazy ride,” she said. “I believe, if it matters to you, you can make it happen. I push my family and agents to dig a little deeper and do a little more because everything you need is already inside you, and if you believe it, you absolutely can achieve it.” @realproducers

February is American Heart Month. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is a leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, responsible for more than one in four deaths annually. While this statistic is dire, heart disease can be prevented – and even reversed – with healthy choices regarding diet, exercise, and maintaining health conditions. Doctors’ time-tested advice of controlling blood pressure and cholesterol still holds true; however, these less conventional techniques can be used cooperatively to help make hearts healthier and stronger. Get Enough Sleep. Getting enough good-quality
sleep has innumerable benefits, from aiding in weight loss to improving memory. Studies have shown a marked increase in heart disease in those who sleep less than six hours per night, as sleeping too little can disrupt underlying health conditions and biological processes. Experts say seven to nine hours of sleep is ideal for heart health. And, consistency is key; maintaining a reliable sleep schedule regulates the body's internal clock and can help you fall asleep and wake more easily.

Drink Some Java. The probable benefits of regular coffee consumption are pretty compelling. For example, caffeine, especially derived by drinking filtered, black coffee, boosts energy levels, which can help sharpen mental acuity and enhance mood, and lowers inflammation levels, which are a precursor to many concerning health conditions. Interestingly, habitual coffee drinking has been linked to lower levels of cardiovascular disease, particularly in women. Floss. This seemingly inconsequential chore our
parents and dentists nag over can play a surprising role in heart health. Beyond just improving smiles, flossing daily reduces inflammation and improves gum health, which, in turn, prevents the introduction of harmful bacteria into the bloodstream. Healthy gums are directly correlated to a slower progression of plaque buildup on artery walls. Don’t Forget to Laugh. As the old saying goes, “Laughter is the best medicine.” Laughter has many emotional and physical benefits, including reducing stress, easing pain and depression symptoms, and boosting our immune system. It also has been shown to expand blood vessels by more than 20 percent, allowing for markedly better circulation and blood flow in the heart.
