Manual Handling Certified Trainers

Hospital employees were shown the best lifting and moving techniques that will prevent injuries to themselves and others during a three-day master class held on une 18-20, 2019 at Cheshire Hall edical Centre. an Crawford, anual Handling Practitioner of Centaur, a company based in the nited ingdom, conducted the training and has been providing expert sessions at InterHealth Canada - Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital for several years. The objective of the course was to further expand the number of health care practitioners certified as manual handling trainers within the organi ation. During the recent session, eight new employees became trainers and three previous trainers underwent refresher sessions. The departments represented included human resources, facilities management, nursing, education, physiotherapy and physicians. In a health care setting, employees are often required to lift patients inside and outside of a bed or chair and it is essential to understand and apply the safest techniques. 14

The conference offers over 200 educational sessions, which are based on the SHRM Competency Model to provide education for HR professionals at every stage of their career.
The annual event features internationally renowned speakers that offer fresh perspectives and inspiring stories to provide a deeper understanding of a broad range of HR topics and workplace issues.

Nephrologist at TCI Hospital, Dr. Vancelee Forbes participated in a panel discussion on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Methodist Church in Blue Hills to conduct a presentation on the Kidneys and its functions.

InterHealth Canada donates a trophy to the top science student of public and private high schools across the country during graduation season on an annual basis. In late une, staff were preparing to mobilise some of this years trophy deliveries. InterHealth Canada extended congratulations to the ten award recipients and school leavers in general as they venture into the next step on their journey. During the second quarter of the year, the company also provided a monetary donation to Food For Thought, a local non-profit organi ation. The donation will fund breakfast for 10 children on every school day for an entire year.

The team won its first medal ever in CA IFTA swimming a silver in the 0m backstroke by ohan hearer at the CA IFTA swim competition held on April 19-22, 2019 in arbados. Creating an on-site wellness program is important since the majority of an employee s time is spent at the workplace. Whether an employee is fixated at a computer screen or a roving floor worker, it is important to have ergo eyes. This expression simply means seeing the world through the lens of fundamental ergonomic principles.
The sessions were held across both medical centres and focused on work station stretches. The mental health and wellbeing of employees is critical to health care facilities, which are dependent on people for service delivery. In keeping with the company s commitment to staff welfare, the organisation also hosted a family beach day to promote work life balance on une 10, 2019.
During the month of ay, the rehabilitation department held a wellness session with a soca twist to encourage movement, stretching and postural awareness among employees. The musculoskeletal system is often referred to as the human body s movement system, and it is designed to move. The sessions were called Work That .
