BAGHDAD WALK is structured around four interconnected components. The program begins with a series of workshops in contemporary art practices and artivism, engaging emerging Iraqi artists and activists. It then transitions into a production phase in which participants develop their concepts into works conceived for presentation in public space. The project culminates in a two-day group exhibition and guided art walk across the city of Baghdad, followed by a one-month documentation exhibition at Bait Tarkib. This year’s BAGHDAD WALK unfolded along Abu Nawas and Haifa Street.
Twenty-two presentations, bringing together twenty-five artists and activists, engaged seven key topics: water scarcity, the impact of oil, gas flaring, noise pollution, the depletion of green spaces, war remnants, and salt. These issues were explored through the overarching perspective of nature, women, and sustainability.
