PRINCIPLES IN ACTION: CUSTOMER FOCUS 6
You Are What You Do | Walk the Walk
We received the following email via our website from an individual who had a positive encounter with a Taplin employee and wanted to share.
Great job to Billy Brady and Matias Carvajal from the UI division for delivering exceptional customer service and representing Taplin in such a positive way!
āWanted to let you know how professional, polite, and respectful your employee was that I encountered yesterday in Stockbridge, MI. Your crew was locating utilities on my block and needed access to the back yard.
One of the locate crew knocked on the door, explained the work being performed, and asked for alternate means to access the backyard after noticing that the closest gate didnāt appear to be in the best condition. I offered the gate on the other side of the house.
When finished, all gates were closed and latched. I appreciate people like this because I have dogs. Others that enter my yard donāt always secure the gates when done. Iāve also had people go over the fence and damage it.
I hope you ā re able to identify and recognize the crew that was out yesterday.ā

Saturday Thoughts
āSo, if you ever find yourself wondering about the culture of this company, hereās a tidbit that may help.
Yesterday afternoon, there was an unfamiliar car parked in front of our 5100 building After a few minutes, our owner headed over to investigate Standing in the rain, he spent about 20 minutes talking with, and more importantly listening to a total stranger. The details arenāt the story here, suffice it to say heās had some tragic life events leading to a more difficult life than anyone deserves.
He was invited to apply for work, an opportunity to improve his circumstances Whether that happens or not remains to be seen But again, not the story
We are all employed by a company, led by a person who lives what he believes, and takes to heart the vision of āfamilyā heās worked to create. Not every day will be easy, weāll all stumble at times and be challenged to be better and do better. We are all working hard for the benefit of the company, but the success of each individual is how we get there The example that Steve demonstrated yesterday is something we can all be a part of Each of us has the power to help build others in one way or another, becoming part of the bigger picture And thatās what matters ā

Making an IMPACT
Making an effort to help out a coworker, offering feedback to improve processes, taking on tasks outside of your comfort zone, and being a positive presence are all ways to make a meaningful impact at work
MONEY _ AVING TIP!
If you have a Taplin medical insurance coverage plan, you may or may not know this. But, our health insurance plan meets requirements for āqualified health coverageā on auto insurance policies under Michiganās No-Fault law
If you arenāt already utilizing this money-saving feature, you can contact the customer service number on the back of your insurance card (do NOT contact HR, you have to contact the insurance company yourself) and request a āQualified Health Coverageā letter. You can then submit the letter to your auto insurance provider and potentially receive a discount on your auto policy!
